| 1 | The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying, | La parola dell'Eterno mi fu rivolta, dicendo: |
| 2 | Son of man, set thy face against the Ammonites, and prophesy against them; | Figlio d'uomo, volgi la tua faccia verso i figli di Ammon e profetizza contro di loro. |
| 3 | And say unto the Ammonites, Hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou saidst, Aha, against my sanctuary, when it was profaned; and against the land of Israel, when it was desolate; and against the house of Judah, when they went into captivity; | Di' ai figli di Ammon: Ascoltate la parola del Signore, dell'Eterno: Così dice il Signore. l'Eterno: Poiché tu hai detto: "ah, ah", contro il mio santuario quando è stato profanato, contro il paese d'Israele quando è stato desolato e contro la casa di Giuda quando è andata in cattività, |
| 4 | Behold, therefore I will deliver thee to the men of the east for a possession, and they shall set their palaces in thee, and make their dwellings in thee: they shall eat thy fruit, and they shall drink thy milk. | perciò ecco, io ti do in possesso dei figli dell'est, ed essi metteranno i loro accampamenti in mezzo a te e stabiliranno in mezzo a te le loro dimore; essi mangeranno i tuoi frutti e berranno il tuo latte. |
| 5 | And I will make Rabbah a stable for camels, and the Ammonites a couching place for flocks: and ye shall know that I am the LORD. | Io farò di Rabbah un recinto per cammelli e del paese dei figli di Ammon un ovile per le pecore; allora riconoscerai che io sono l'Eterno. |
| 6 | For thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast clapped thine hands, and stamped with the feet, and rejoiced in heart with all thy despite against the land of Israel; | Per questo così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Poiché tu hai battuto le mani e pestato i piedi e hai gioito nel cuore con tutto il tuo disprezzo per il paese d'Israele. |
| 7 | Behold, therefore I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and will deliver thee for a spoil to the heathen; and I will cut thee off from the people, and I will cause thee to perish out of the countries: I will destroy thee; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD. | perciò ecco, io stendo la mia mano contro di te e ti darò come bottino alle nazioni, ti sterminerò dai popoli e ti farò sparire dal numero dei paesi; ti distruggerò, così riconoscerai che io sono l'Eterno. |
| 8 | Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because that Moab and Seir do say, Behold, the house of Judah is like unto all the heathen; | Così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Poiché Moab, e Seir dicono: Ecco, la casa di Giuda è come tutte le altre nazioni |
| 9 | Therefore, behold, I will open the side of Moab from the cities, from his cities which are on his frontiers, the glory of the country, Bethjeshimoth, Baalmeon, and Kiriathaim, | perciò ecco, io aprirò il fianco di Moab dal lato delle città, dal lato delle città che stanno ai suoi confini, lo splendore del paese, Beth-Jescimoth, Baalmeon e Kirjathaim. |
| 10 | Unto the men of the east with the Ammonites, and will give them in possession, that the Ammonites may not be remembered among the nations. | Lo darò quindi in possesso ai figli dell'est, assieme ai figli di Ammon, affinché i figli di Ammon non siano più ricordati fra le nazioni. |
| 11 | And I will execute judgments upon Moab; and they shall know that I am the LORD. | Così eseguirò i miei giudizi su Moab ed essi riconosceranno che io sono l'Eterno. |
| 12 | Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because that Edom hath dealt against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and hath greatly offended, and revenged himself upon them; | Così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Per ciò che Edom ha fatto contro la casa di Giuda, compiendo vendetta, e perché si è reso grandemente colpevole vendicandosi di essa, |
| 13 | Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also stretch out mine hand upon Edom, and will cut off man and beast from it; and I will make it desolate from Teman; and they of Dedan shall fall by the sword. | così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Io stenderò la mia mano contro Edom ne sterminerò uomini e bestie e lo renderò una desolazione; da Theman fino a Dedan cadranno per la spada. |
| 14 | And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel: and they shall do in Edom according to mine anger and according to my fury; and they shall know my vengeance, saith the Lord GOD. | Compirò la mia vendetta su Edom per mezzo del mio popolo d'Israele, che tratterà Edom secondo la mia ira e secondo il mio furore; così essi conosceranno la mia vendetta dice il Signore, l'Eterno. |
| 15 | Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge, and have taken vengeance with a despiteful heart, to destroy it for the old hatred; | Così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Poiché i Filistei sono stati vendicativi e hanno compiuto vendetta col cuore pieno di disprezzo per distruggere, mossi da un'antica inimicizia, |
| 16 | Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will stretch out mine hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethims, and destroy the remnant of the sea coast. | perciò così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Ecco, io stenderò la mia mano contro i Filistei, sterminerò i Kerethei e distruggerò il resto della costa del mare. |
| 17 | And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them. | Compirò su di loro una grande vendetta con castighi furiosi; e riconosceranno che io sono l'Eterno, quando compirò su di loro la mia vendetta. |
