| 1 | Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, | Or en la neuvième année, au dixième jour du dixième mois, la parole de l'Eternel me fut adressée, en disant: |
| 2 | Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day. | Fils d'homme, écris-toi le nom de ce jour, de ce propre jour; car en ce même jour le Roi de Babylone s'est approché contre Jérusalem. |
| 3 | And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set it on, and also pour water into it: | Mets donc en avant une similitude à la maison rebelle, et leur dis: Ainsi a dit le Seigneur l'Eternel: mets, mets la chaudière, et verse de l'eau dedans. |
| 4 | Gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones. | Assemble ses pièces dans elle, toutes les bonnes pièces, la cuisse, et l'épaule, et la remplis des meilleurs os. |
| 5 | Take the choice of the flock, and burn also the bones under it, and make it boil well, and let them seethe the bones of it therein. | Prends la meilleure bête du troupeau, et fais brûler des os sous la chaudière, fais-la bouillir à gros bouillons, et que les os cuisent dans elle. |
| 6 | Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it. | Car ainsi a dit le Seigneur l'Eternel: malheur à la ville sanguinaire, à la chaudière dans laquelle est son écume, et de laquelle l'écume n'est point sortie; vide-la pièce après pièce; et que le sort ne soit point jeté sur elle. |
| 7 | For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust; | Parce que son sang est au milieu d'elle, qu'elle l'a mis sur la pierre sèche, et qu'elle ne l'a point répandu sur la terre pour le couvrir de poussière. |
| 8 | That it might cause fury to come up to take vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered. | J'ai mis son sang sur une pierre sèche, afin qu'il ne soit point couvert, pour faire monter la fureur, et pour en prendre vengeance. |
| 9 | Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great. | C'est pourquoi ainsi a dit le Seigneur l'Eternel: malheur à la ville sanguinaire; j'en ferai aussi un grand tas de bois à brûler. |
| 10 | Heap on wood, kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and spice it well, and let the bones be burned. | Amasse beaucoup de bois, allume le feu, fais cuire la chair entièrement, et la fais consumer, et que les os soient brûlés. |
| 11 | Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed. | Puis mets sur les charbons ardents la chaudière toute vide, afin qu'elle s'échauffe, et que son airain se brûle, et que son ordure soit fondue au dedans d'elle, et que son écume soit consumée. |
| 12 | She hath wearied herself with lies, and her great scum went not forth out of her: her scum shall be in the fire. | Elle m'a travaillé par des mensonges, et sa grosse écume n'est point sortie d'elle; son écume s'en ira au feu. |
| 13 | In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee. | Il y a de l'énormité en ta souillure; car je t'avais purifiée, et tu n'as point été nette; tu ne seras point encore nettoyée de ta souillure, jusqu'à ce que j'aie satisfait ma fureur sur toi. |
| 14 | I the LORD have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord GOD. | Moi l'Eternel j'ai parlé, cela arrivera, et je le ferai; et je ne me retirerai point en arrière, je n'épargnerai point, et je ne serai point apaisé. On t'a jugée selon ton train, et selon tes actions, dit le Seigneur l'Eternel. |
| 15 | Also the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, | Et la parole de l'Eternel me fut adressée, en disant: |
| 16 | Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet neither shalt thou mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down. | Fils d'homme, voici, je vais t'ôter par une plaie ce que tes yeux voient avec le plus de plaisir; mais n'en mène point de deuil, et ne pleure point, ne fais point couler tes larmes. |
| 17 | Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the tire of thine head upon thee, and put on thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men. | Garde-toi de gémir, et ne mène point le deuil qu'on a accoutumé de mener sur les morts; laisse ton bonnet sur ta tête, et mets tes souliers à tes pieds, et ne cache point la lèvre de dessus, et ne mange point le pain des autres. |
| 18 | So I spake unto the people in the morning: and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded. | Je parlai donc au peuple le matin, et ma femme mourut le soir; et le lendemain matin je fis comme il m'avait été commandé. |
| 19 | And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so? | Et le peuple me dit: ne nous déclareras-tu point ce que nous signifient ces choses-là que tu fais? |
| 20 | Then I answered them, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying, | Et je leur répondis: la parole de l'Eternel m'a été adressée, en disant: |
| 21 | Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword. | Dis à la maison d'Israël: ainsi a dit le Seigneur l'Eternel: voici, je m'en vais profaner mon Sanctuaire, la magnificence de votre force, ce qui est le plus agréable à vos yeux, ce que vous voudriez qu'on épargnât sur toutes choses; et vos fils et vos filles, que vous aurez laissés, tomberont par l'épée. |
| 22 | And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men. | Vous ferez alors comme j'ai fait; vous ne couvrirez point vos lèvres, et vous ne mangerez point le pain des autres. |
| 23 | And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away for your iniquities, and mourn one toward another. | Et vos bonnets seront sur vos têtes, et vos souliers à vos pieds; vous ne mènerez point de deuil, ni ne pleurerez; mais vous fondrez à cause de vos iniquités, et vous gémirez les uns avec les autres. |
| 24 | Thus Ezekiel is unto you a sign: according to all that he hath done shall ye do: and when this cometh, ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD. | Et Ezéchiel vous sera pour un signe; vous ferez selon toutes les choses qu'il a faites; et quand cela sera arrivé, vous connaîtrez que je suis le Seigneur l'Eternel. |
| 25 | Also, thou son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their minds, their sons and their daughters, | Et quant à toi, fils d'homme, au jour que je leur ôterai leur force, la joie de leur ornement, l'objet le plus agréable à leurs yeux, et l'objet de leurs coeurs, leurs fils et leurs filles; |
| 26 | That he that escapeth in that day shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears? | En ce même jour-là quelqu'un qui sera échappé ne viendra-t-il pas vers toi pour te le raconter? |
| 27 | In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: and thou shalt be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am the LORD. | En ce jour-là ta bouche sera ouverte envers celui qui sera échappé, et tu parleras, et ne seras plus muet; ainsi tu leur seras pour un signe, et ils sauront que je suis l'Eternel. |
