| 1 | Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, | La parola dell'Eterno mi fu rivolta nel nono anno, nel decimo mese, il decimo giorno del mese, dicendo: |
| 2 | Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day. | Figlio d'uomo, scrivi la data di oggi, proprio di questo giorno. Il re di Babilonia ha deciso di assediare Gerusalemme oggi stesso. |
| 3 | And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set it on, and also pour water into it: | Proponi una parabola a questa casa ribelle, e di' loro: Così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Metti su la pentola, mettila su e versaci dentro acqua. |
| 4 | Gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones. | Raccogli in essa i pezzi di carne, tutti i pezzi buoni, la coscia e la spalla; riempila con ossa scelte. |
| 5 | Take the choice of the flock, and burn also the bones under it, and make it boil well, and let them seethe the bones of it therein. | Prendi il meglio del gregge, quindi ammucchiavi sotto la legna, falla bollire gagliardamente, affinché in essa bollano anche le sue ossa. |
| 6 | Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it. | Perciò, così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Guai alla città sanguinaria, alla pentola in cui c'è sporcizia, e la cui sporcizia non se ne va. | 9 | Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great. | Perciò così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Guai alla città sanguinaria! Anch'io farò un gran rogo. |
| 10 | Heap on wood, kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and spice it well, and let the bones be burned. | Ammassa la legna, accendi il fuoco, fa' cuocere bene la carne, mescola le spezie e lascia che le ossa brucino. |
| 11 | Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed. | Poi metti la pentola vuota sui carboni, perché si riscaldi e il suo bronzo diventi rovente affinché la sua impurità si dissolva in mezzo ad essa, e la sua sporcizia sia consumata. |
| 12 | She hath wearied herself with lies, and her great scum went not forth out of her: her scum shall be in the fire. | Essa mi ha stancato con le sue menzogne; la sua grande sporcizia non se ne va; la sua sporcizia andrà a finire nel fuoco. |
| 13 | In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee. | C'è dissolutezza nella tua impurità. Io infatti ho cercato di purificarti, ma tu non sei pura; non sarai più purificata dalla tua impurità, finché non abbia sfogato su di te il mio furore, |
| 14 | I the LORD have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord GOD. | Io, l'Eterno, ho parlato, la cosa avverrà, io la compirò; non indietreggerò, non avrò compassione, non mi pentirò. Sarai giudicata secondo la tua condotta e secondo le tue azioni, dice il Signore, l'Eterno. |
| 15 | Also the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, | La parola dell'Eterno mi fu rivolta dicendo: |
| 16 | Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet neither shalt thou mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down. | Figlio d'uomo, ecco, io ti porterò via con un sol colpo la delizia dei tuoi occhi; ma tu non far cordoglio, non piangere e non versare alcuna lacrima. |
| 17 | Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the tire of thine head upon thee, and put on thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men. | Gemi in silenzio, non fare il lutto per i morti, cingiti il capo col turbante, mettiti i sandali ai piedi, non coprirti la barba e non mangiare il pane delle persone in lutto. |
| 18 | So I spake unto the people in the morning: and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded. | Al mattino parlai al popolo e alla sera mia moglie morì; la mattina dopo feci come mi era stato comandato. |
| 19 | And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so? | Il popolo allora mi chiese: Non ci spiegherai che cosa significa per noi quello che fai?. |
| 20 | Then I answered them, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying, | Io risposi loro: La parola dell'Eterno mi è stata rivolta, dicendo: |
| 21 | Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword. | Di' alla casa d'Israele: Così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Ecco io profanerò il mio santuario, l'orgoglio della vostra forza, la delizia dei vostri occhi, il diletto della vostra anima; e i vostri figli e le vostre figlie che avete lasciato cadranno di spada. |
| 22 | And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men. | E voi farete come ho fatto io: non vi coprirete la barba e non mangerete il pane delle persone in lutto. |
| 23 | And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away for your iniquities, and mourn one toward another. | Avrete i vostri turbanti in capo, i vostri sandali ai piedi; non farete cordoglio e non piangerete, ma vi struggerete per le vostre iniquità e gemerete l'uno con l'altro. |
| 24 | Thus Ezekiel is unto you a sign: according to all that he hath done shall ye do: and when this cometh, ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD. | Così Ezechiele sarà per voi un segno; voi farete in tutto come ha fatto lui. Quando queste cose accadranno, riconoscerete che io sono il Signore, l'Eterno. |
| 25 | Also, thou son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their minds, their sons and their daughters, | E tu, figlio d'uomo, il giorno in cui porterò loro via la loro fortezza, la gioia della loro gloria, il diletto dei loro occhi, la brama della loro anima, i loro figli e le loro figlie, |
| 26 | That he that escapeth in that day shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears? | in quel giorno un fuggiasco verrà da te per dartene la notizia. |
| 27 | In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: and thou shalt be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am the LORD. | In quel giorno la tua bocca si aprirà col fuggiasco; allora parlerai e non sarai più muto, e sarai per loro un segno. Allora riconosceranno che io sono l'Eterno. |
