| 2 | "Fils de l'homme, mets par écrit le nom de ce jour, de ce propre jour-ci : le roi de Babylone s'est jeté sur Jérusalem en ce jour même. | Son of man, write thee the name of the day, [even] of this selfsame day: the king of Babylon drew close unto Jerusalem this selfsame day. |
| 3 | Propose une parabole à la maison rebelle et dis-leur : Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh : Dresse la chaudière, dresse-la et verses-y de l'eau. | And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Set on the caldron, set it on, and also pour water into it: |
| 4 | Amasses-y ses morceaux, tous les bons morceaux, la cuisse et l'épaule, remplis-la des meilleurs os. | gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones. |
| 5 | Prends ce qu'il y a de mieux dans le troupeau, entasse aussi les os sous la chaudière; fais-la bouillir à gros bouillons, et que les os qui sont dedans cuisent aussi. | Take the choice of the flock, and also a pile [of wood] for the bones under [the caldron]; make it boil well; yea, let the bones thereof be boiled in the midst of it. |
| 6 | C'est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh : Malheur à la ville de sang, chaudière dans laquelle il y a du vert-de-gris, et de laquelle le vert-de-gris n'est pas sorti! Vide-la morceaux par morceaux, sans tirer au sort. | Wherefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe to the bloody city, to the caldron whose rust is therein, and whose rust is not gone out of it! take out of it piece after piece; No lot is fallen upon it. |
| 7 | Car le sang qu'elle a versé est au milieu d'elle; elle l'a mis sur la roche nue; elle ne l'a pas répandu sur la terre, pour le couvrir de poussière. | For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the bare rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust. |
| 8 | Afin d'exciter le courroux, afin de tirer vengeance, j'ai fait verser le sang qu'elle a répandu sur la roche nue, pour qu'il ne fût pas couvert. | That it may cause wrath to come up to take vengeance, I have set her blood upon the bare rock, that it should not be covered. |
| 9 | C'est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh : Malheur à la ville de sang! Moi aussi, je dresserai un grand monceau de bois. | Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great. |
| 10 | Amasse le bois, allume le feu, fais fondre la chair, fais bouillir la bouillie, et que les os soient consumés par le feu. | Heap on the wood, make the fire hot, boil well the flesh, and make thick the broth, and let the bones be burned. |
| 11 | Puis pose la chaudière vide sur ses charbons, afin qu'elle s'échauffe, que son airain s'embrase et que sa souillure se fonde au milieu d'elle, que son vert-de-gris soit consumé. | Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that it may be hot, and the brass thereof may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the rust of it may be consumed. |
| 12 | Efforts inutiles! Sa masse de vert-de-gris ne s'en va pas, son vert-de-gris résiste au feu. | She hath wearied [herself] with toil; yet her great rust goeth not forth out of her; her rust [goeth not forth] by fire. |
| 13 | Dans ta souillure il y a une énormité; puisque je t'ai purifiée et que tu n'es pas devenue pure, tu ne seras jamais plus purifiée de ta souillure, jusqu'à ce que j'aie fait reposer sur toi mon courroux. | In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have cleansed thee and thou wast not cleansed, thou shalt not be cleansed from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my wrath toward thee to rest. |
| 14 | Moi, Yahweh, j'ai parlé; cela arrivera et je le ferai; je ne lâcherai point, je n'épargnerai point, je ne me repentirai point. On te jugera selon tes voies, et selon tes forfaits, --oracle du Seigneur Yahweh." | I, Jehovah, have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it: I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord Jehovah. |

| 16 | "Fils de l'homme, voici que je vais t'enlever par un coup soudain les délices de tes yeux; tu ne te lamenteras point, tu ne pleureras point, et tes larmes ne couleront pas. | Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet thou shalt neither mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down. |
| 17 | Soupire en silence; ne fais pas le deuil des morts; ceins ta tête de ton turban et mets ta chaussure à tes pieds; ne te voile pas la barbe et ne mange pas le pain de consolation." | Sigh, but not aloud, make no mourning for the dead; bind thy headtire upon thee, and put thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men. |
| 18 | Je parlai au peuple le matin, et ma femme mourut le soir; le lendemain matin, je fis ce qui m'avait été ordonné. | So I spake unto the people in the morning; and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded. |
| 19 | Et le peuple me dit : "Ne nous expliqueras-tu pas ce que signifie pour nous ce que tu fais là ?" | And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so? |
| 20 | Je leur dis : "La parole de Yahweh m'a été adressée en ces termes : | Then I said unto them, The word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, |
| 21 | Dis à la maison d'Israël : Ainsi parte le Seigneur Yahweh : Voici que je vais profaner mon sanctuaire, l'orgueil de votre force, les délices de vos yeux et l'amour de vos âmes; et vos fils et vos filles que vous avez quittés tomberont par l'épée. | Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left behind shall fall by the sword. |
| 22 | Vous ferez alors ce que j'ai fait : vous ne vous couvrirez pas la barbe et vous ne mangerez pas le pain de consolation. | And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men. |
| 23 | Vos turbans resteront sur vos têtes et vos chaussures à vos pieds; vous ne vous lamenterez pas et vous ne pleurerez pas; mais vous vous consumerez dans vos iniquités, et vous gémirez l'un auprès de l'autre. | And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away in your iniquities, and moan one toward another. |
| 24 | Ezéchiel sera pour vous un emblème : selon tout ce qu'il a fait vous agirez, quand cela arrivera, et vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur Yahweh." | Thus shall Ezekiel be unto you a sign; according to all that he hath done shall ye do: when this cometh, then shall ye know that I am the Lord Jehovah. |
| 25 | "Et toi, fils de l'homme, le jour où je leur ôterai ce qui fait leur force, leur gloire et leur joie, les délices de leurs yeux et le désir de leurs âmes, -- leurs fils et leurs filles, -- | And thou, son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their heart, their sons and their daughters, |
| 26 | en ce jour-là, un fugitif viendra vers toi pour en apporter la nouvelle. | that in that day he that escapeth shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears? |
| 27 | En ce jour-là, ta bouche s'ouvrira à l'arrivée du fugitif; tu parleras et ne seras plus muet, et tu seras pour eux un emblème; ils sauront que je suis le Seigneur Yahweh." | In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him that is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: so shalt thou be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am Jehovah. |
