| 2 | Fils d'homme, il y avait deux femmes, filles d'une même mère; | Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother: |
| 3 | et elles se prostituèrent en Égypte, elles se prostituèrent dans leur jeunesse: là leurs mamelles furent froissées, là les seins de leur virginité furent pressés. | and they played the harlot in Egypt; they played the harlot in their youth; there were their breasts pressed, and there was handled the bosom of their virginity. |
| 4 | Et leurs noms étaient: Ohola, l'aînée, et Oholiba, sa soeur; et elles étaient à moi, et elles enfantèrent des fils et des filles. Et leurs noms: Samarie est Ohola, et Jérusalem, Oholiba. | And the names of them were Oholah the elder, and Oholibah her sister: and they became mine, and they bare sons and daughters. And as for their names, Samaria is Oholah, and Jerusalem Oholibah. |
| 5 | Et Ohola, étant à moi, se prostitua et se passionna pour ses amants, pour les Assyriens, ses voisins, | And Oholah played the harlot when she was mine; and she doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians [her] neighbors, |
| 6 | vêtus de bleu, gouverneurs et chefs, tous beaux jeunes hommes, cavaliers montés sur des chevaux; | who were clothed with blue, governors and rulers, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding upon horses. |
| 7 | et elle se livra à ses prostitutions avec eux, tous l'élite des fils d'Assur; et, avec tous ceux pour lesquels elle se passionna, avec toutes leurs idoles, elle se rendit impure. | And she bestowed her whoredoms upon them, the choicest men of Assyria all of them; and on whomsoever she doted, with all their idols she defiled herself. |
| 8 | Et elle n'abandonna pas ses prostitutions qui datent de l'Égypte, car ils avaient couché avec elle dans sa jeunesse, et ils avaient pressé les seins de sa virginité, et avaient versé sur elle leur prostitution. | Neither hath she left her whoredoms since [the days of] Egypt; for in her youth they lay with her, and they handled the bosom of her virginity; and they poured out their whoredom upon her. |
| 9 | C'est pourquoi je la livrai en la main de ses amants, en la main des fils d'Assur pour lesquels elle s'était passionnée. | Wherefore I delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians, upon whom she doted. |
| 10 | Ils découvrirent sa nudité, prirent ses fils et ses filles, et la tuèrent elle-même par l'épée; et elle devint renommée parmi les femmes, et ils exécutèrent des jugements sur elle. | These uncovered her nakedness; they took her sons and her daughters; and her they slew with the sword: and she became a byword among women; for they executed judgments upon her. |
| 11 | Et sa soeur Oholiba vit cela, et se corrompit plus qu'elle dans ses amours passionnées; et ses prostitutions furent plus grandes que les débauches de sa soeur. | And her sister Oholibah saw this, yet was she more corrupt in her doting than she, and in her whoredoms which were more than the whoredoms of her sister. |
| 12 | Elle se passionna pour les fils d'Assur, gouverneurs et chefs, ses voisins, vêtus magnifiquement, cavaliers montés sur des chevaux, tous beaux jeunes hommes. | She doted upon the Assyrians, governors and rulers, [her] neighbors, clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding upon horses, all of them desirable young men. |
| 13 | Et je vis qu'elle s'était rendue impure: elles suivaient toutes deux la même voie. | And I saw that she was defiled; they both took one way. |
| 14 | Et elle avait ajouté à ses prostitutions, et elle avait vu des hommes dessinés sur le mur, des images de Chaldéens tracés au vermillon, | And she increased her whoredoms; for she saw men portrayed upon the wall, the images of the Chaldeans portrayed with vermilion, |
| 15 | portant des ceintures sur leurs reins, avec des tiares flottantes sur leurs têtes, tous ayant l'aspect de grands seigneurs, à la ressemblance des fils de Babel, de la Chaldée, pays de leur naissance; | girded with girdles upon their loins, with flowing turbans upon their heads, all of them princes to look upon, after the likeness of the Babylonians in Chaldea, the land of their nativity. |
| 16 | et elle se passionna pour eux en les voyant de ses yeux, et envoya des messagers vers eux en Chaldée. | And as soon as she saw them she doted upon them, and sent messengers unto them into Chaldea. |
| 17 | Et les fils de Babel vinrent vers elle dans le lit des amours, et la rendirent impure par leur prostitution, et elle se rendit impure avec eux; puis son âme se détacha d'eux. | And the Babylonians came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their whoredom, and she was polluted with them, and her soul was alienated from them. |
| 18 | Et elle découvrit ses prostitutions, et elle découvrit sa nudité; et mon âme se détacha d'elle, comme mon âme s'était détachée de sa soeur. | So she uncovered her whoredoms, and uncovered her nakedness: then my soul was alienated from her, like as my soul was alienated from her sister. |
| 19 | Et elle multiplia ses prostitutions, se souvenant des jours de sa jeunesse, où elle s'était prostituée dans le pays d'Égypte; | Yet she multiplied her whoredoms, remembering the days of her youth, wherein she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt. |
| 20 | et elle se passionna pour ses concubinaires, dont la chair est comme la chair des ânes, et dont le flux est comme le flux des chevaux. | And she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses. |
| 21 | Tu te rappelas l'infamie de ta jeunesse, lorsque les Égyptiens pressaient tes seins à cause des mamelles de ta jeunesse. | Thus thou calledst to remembrance the lewdness of thy youth, in the handling of thy bosom by the Egyptians for the breasts of thy youth. |
| 22 | C'est pourquoi, Oholiba! ainsi dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Voici, je réveille contre toi tes amants, desquels ton âme s'est détachée, et je les ferai venir contre toi de tous côtés: | Therefore, O Oholibah, thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will raise up thy lovers against thee, from whom thy soul is alienated, and I will bring them against thee on every side: |
| 23 | les fils de Babel, et tous les Chaldéens, Pekod et Shoa et Koa, tous les fils d'Assur avec eux, tous beaux jeunes hommes, gouverneurs et chefs, grands seigneurs et gens de renom, tous montés sur des chevaux. | the Babylonians and all the Chaldeans, Pekod and Shoa and Koa, [and] all the Assyrians with them; desirable young men, governors and rulers all of them, princes and men of renown, all of them riding upon horses. |
| 24 | Et ils viendront contre toi avec des armes, des chars et des roues, et avec un rassemblement de peuples; ils se placeront contre toi, tout autour, avec le bouclier et l'écu et le casque; et je leur commettrai le jugement, et ils te jugeront selon leurs jugements. | And they shall come against thee with weapons, chariots, and wagons, and with a company of peoples; they shall set themselves against thee with buckler and shield and helmet round about; and I will commit the judgment unto them, and they shall judge thee according to their judgments. |
| 25 | Et je mettrai ma jalousie contre toi, et ils agiront envers toi avec fureur: ils te couperont le nez et les oreilles; et ce qui restera de toi tombera par l'épée. Ils prendront tes fils et tes filles, et ce qui restera de toi sera dévoré par le feu. | And I will set my jealousy against thee, and they shall deal with thee in fury; they shall take away thy nose and thine ears; and thy residue shall fall by the sword: they shall take thy sons and thy daughters; and thy residue shall be devoured by the fire. |
| 26 | Et ils te dépouilleront de tes vêtements, et prendront les objets dont tu te pares; | They shall also strip thee of thy clothes, and take away thy fair jewels. |
| 27 | et je ferai cesser en toi ton infamie et ta prostitution qui date du pays d'Égypte; et tu ne lèveras plus tes yeux vers eux, et tu ne te souviendras plus de l'Égypte. | Thus will I make thy lewdness to cease from thee, and thy whoredom [brought] from the land of Egypt; so that thou shalt not lift up thine eyes unto them, nor remember Egypt any more. |
| 28 | Car ainsi dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Voici, je te livre en la main de ceux que tu hais, en la main de ceux dont ton âme s'est détachée; | For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will deliver thee into the hand of them whom thou hatest, into the hand of them from whom thy soul is alienated; |
| 29 | et ils agiront envers toi avec haine, et prendront tout ton travail, et te laisseront nue et découverte; et la nudité de tes débauches, et ton infamie, et tes prostitutions, seront découvertes. | and they shall deal with thee in hatred, and shall take away all thy labor, and shall leave thee naked and bare; and the nakedness of thy whoredoms shall be uncovered, both thy lewdness and thy whoredoms. |
| 30 | Ces choses t'arriveront, parce que tu t'es prostituée après les nations, parce que tu t'es rendue impure par leurs idoles. | These things shall be done unto thee, for that thou hast played the harlot after the nations, and because thou art polluted with their idols. |
| 31 | Tu as marché dans le chemin de ta soeur; et j'ai mis sa coupe dans ta main. | Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister; therefore will I give her cup into thy hand. |
| 32 | Ainsi dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Tu boiras la coupe de ta soeur, profonde et large; tu seras en risée et en raillerie, car elle contient beaucoup. | Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Thou shalt drink of thy sister`s cup, which is deep and large; thou shalt be laughed to scorn and had in derision; it containeth much. |
| 33 | Tu seras remplie d'ivresse et de chagrin; ce sera une coupe d'étonnement et de désolation, la coupe de ta soeur Samarie. | Thou shalt be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, with the cup of thy sister Samaria. |
| 34 | Tu la boiras, et tu la suceras, et tu en rongeras les têts, et tu te déchireras les seins; car j'ai parlé, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel. | Thou shalt even drink it and drain it out, and thou shalt gnaw the sherds thereof, and shalt tear thy breasts; for I have spoken it, saith the Lord Jehovah. |
| 35 | C'est pourquoi, ainsi dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Parce que tu m'as oublié et que tu m'as jeté derrière ton dos, toi aussi porte ton infamie et tes prostitutions. | Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy lewdness and thy whoredoms. |
| 36 | Et l'Éternel me dit: Fils d'homme, jugeras-tu Ohola et Oholiba? Déclare-leur leurs abominations. | Jehovah said moreover unto me: Son of man, wilt thou judge Oholah and Oholibah? then declare unto them their abominations. |
| 37 | Car elles ont commis adultère, et il y a du sang à leurs mains; elles ont commis adultère avec leurs idoles; et même leurs fils qu'elles m'avaient enfantés, elles les leur ont consacrés pour être dévorés. | For they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands; and with their idols have they committed adultery; and they have also caused their sons, whom they bare unto me, to pass through [the fire] unto them to be devoured. |
| 38 | Elles m'ont fait encore ceci: elles ont rendu impur mon sanctuaire en ce jour-là, et elles ont profané mes sabbats; | Moreover this they have done unto me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my sabbaths. |
| 39 | quand elles avaient égorgé leurs fils à leurs idoles, elles venaient ce même jour dans mon sanctuaire, pour le profaner; et voici, elles ont fait ainsi au milieu de ma maison. | For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and, lo, thus have they done in the midst of my house. |
| 40 | Et bien plus, elles ont envoyé vers des hommes venant de loin, auxquels un messager avait été envoyé; et voici, ils sont venus, ceux pour lesquels tu t'es lavée, tu as peint tes yeux et tu t'es parée d'ornements; | And furthermore ye have sent for men that come from far, unto whom a messenger was sent, and, lo, they came; for whom thou didst wash thyself, paint thine eyes, and deck thyself with ornaments, |
| 41 | et tu t'es assise sur un lit somptueux devant lequel était dressé une table, et tu as placé sur elle mon encens et mon huile. | and sit upon a stately bed, with a table prepared before it, whereupon thou didst set mine incense and mine oil. |
| 42 | Et il y avait en elle le bruit d'une multitude à l'aise; et, vers la foule des hommes, on fit venir du désert des buveurs, qui leur mirent des bracelets aux mains et une couronne de beauté sur la tête. | And the voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with men of the common sort were brought drunkards from the wilderness; and they put bracelets upon the hands of them [twain], and beautiful crowns upon their heads. |
| 43 | Et j'ai dit de celle qui était usée par l'adultère: Maintenant commettra-t-elle ses prostitutions, elle aussi? | Then said I of her that was old in adulteries, Now will they play the harlot with her, and she [with them]. |
| 44 | Et on est venu vers elle comme on vient vers une femme prostituée. Ainsi ils sont venus vers Ohola et vers Oholiba, femmes criminelles. | And they went in unto her, as they go in unto a harlot: so went they in unto Oholah and unto Oholibah, the lewd women. |
| 45 | Et des hommes justes, eux, les jugeront du jugement des femmes adultères et du jugement de celles qui versent le sang; car elles sont adultères, et il y a du sang à leurs mains. | And righteous men, they shall judge them with the judgment of adulteresses, and with the judgment of women that shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands. |
| 46 | Car ainsi dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel: On fera monter contre elles un rassemblement d'hommes, et on les livrera à la vexation et au pillage; | For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will bring up a company against them, and will give them to be tossed to and fro and robbed. |
| 47 | et le rassemblement les lapidera avec des pierres, et ils les transperceront avec leurs épées; ils tueront leurs fils et leurs filles, et ils brûleront leurs maisons par le feu. | And the company shall stone them with stones, and despatch them with their swords; they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire. |
| 48 | Et je ferai cesser l'infamie dans le pays; et toutes les femmes seront enseignées, et ne feront pas selon votre infamie. | Thus will I cause lewdness to cease out of the land, that all women may be taught not to do after your lewdness. |
| 49 | Et ils mettront vos infamies sur vous, et vous porterez les péchés de vos idoles; et vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur, l'Éternel. | And they shall recompense your lewdness upon you, and ye shall bear the sins of your idols; and ye shall know that I am the Lord Jehovah. |
