| 1 | Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, | La parola dell'Eterno mi fu rivolta, dicendo: |
| 2 | Now, thou son of man, wilt thou judge, wilt thou judge the bloody city? yea, thou shalt shew her all her abominations. | Ora, figlio d'uomo, non giudicherai tu, non giudicherai la città sanguinaria? Falle dunque conoscere tutte le sue abominazioni |
| 3 | Then say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD, The city sheddeth blood in the midst of it, that her time may come, and maketh idols against herself to defile herself. | Poi di Così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: La città versa il sangue nel suo mezzo per far venire il suo tempo; inoltre fa idoli contro se stessa per contaminarsi. |
| 4 | Thou art become guilty in thy blood that thou hast shed; and hast defiled thyself in thine idols which thou hast made; and thou hast caused thy days to draw near, and art come even unto thy years: therefore have I made thee a reproach unto the heathen, and a mocking to all countries. | Per il sangue che hai versato ti sei resa colpevole e ti sei contaminata per gli idoli che hai fatto. Hai fatto avvicinare i tuoi giorni e sei giunta al termine dei tuoi anni, perciò ti renderò il vituperio delle nazioni e lo scherno di tutti i paesi. |
| 5 | Those that be near, and those that be far from thee, shall mock thee, which art infamous and much vexed. | Quelli che sono vicini e quelli che sono lontani da te si faranno beffe di te o contaminata di fama e piena di disordine. |
| 6 | Behold, the princes of Israel, every one were in thee to their power to shed blood. | Ecco i principi d'Israele: ognuno ha usato il suo potere per versare il sangue in te. |
| 7 | In thee have they set light by father and mother: in the midst of thee have they dealt by oppression with the stranger: in thee have they vexed the fatherless and the widow. | In te si disprezza il padre e la madre in mezzo a te si opprime lo straniero, in te si maltratta l'orfano e la vedova. |
| 8 | Thou hast despised mine holy things, and hast profaned my sabbaths. | Tu hai disprezzato le mie cose sante e hai profanato i miei sabati. |
| 9 | In thee are men that carry tales to shed blood: and in thee they eat upon the mountains: in the midst of thee they commit lewdness. | In te c'è gente che calunnia per versare sangue, in te c'è chi mangia sui monti, in mezzo a te si commettono scelleratezze. |
| 10 | In thee have they discovered their fathers' nakedness: in thee have they humbled her that was set apart for pollution. | In te si scopre la nudità del padre, in te si umilia la donna durante la sua impurità. |
| 11 | And one hath committed abomination with his neighbour's wife; and another hath lewdly defiled his daughter in law; and another in thee hath humbled his sister, his father's daughter. | Uno commette abominazione con la moglie del suo prossimo, l'altro contamina d'incesto la sua nuora un'altro ancora in te umilia sua sorella, figlia di suo padre. |
| 12 | In thee have they taken gifts to shed blood; thou hast taken usury and increase, and thou hast greedily gained of thy neighbours by extortion, and hast forgotten me, saith the Lord GOD. | In te si ricevono regali per versare il sangue, tu esigi interesse ad usura, hai realizzato guadagni dal prossimo con inganno e hai dimenticato me, dice il Signore l'Eterno. |
| 13 | Behold, therefore I have smitten mine hand at thy dishonest gain which thou hast made, and at thy blood which hath been in the midst of thee. | Ma ecco io batto le mani per il disonesto guadagno che hai fatto e per il sangue versato che è in mezzo a te. |
| 14 | Can thine heart endure, or can thine hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with thee? I the LORD have spoken it, and will do it. | Potrà reggere il tuo cuore o potranno rimanere forti le tue mani nei giorni in cui agirò contro di te? Io l'Eterno, ho parlato e lo farò. |
| 15 | And I will scatter thee among the heathen, and disperse thee in the countries, and will consume thy filthiness out of thee. | Io ti disperderò fra le nazioni, ti disseminerò per i paesi ed eliminerò da te la tua immondizia. |
| 16 | And thou shalt take thine inheritance in thyself in the sight of the heathen, and thou shalt know that I am the LORD. | Tu profanerai te stessa agli occhi delle nazioni e riconoscerai che io sono l'Eterno. |
| 17 | And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, | La parola dell'Eterno mi fu rivolta, dicendo: |
| 18 | Son of man, the house of Israel is to me become dross: all they are brass, and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of the furnace; they are even the dross of silver. | Figlio d'uomo, la casa d'Israele è diventata per me tutta scorie: sono tutti bronzo, stagno, ferro e piombo in mezzo a una fornace; sono diventati scorie d'argento. |
| 19 | Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye are all become dross, behold, therefore I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. | Perciò così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Poiché siete tutti diventati tante scorie, ecco io vi radunerò in mezzo a Gerusalemme. |
| 20 | As they gather silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the midst of the furnace, to blow the fire upon it, to melt it; so will I gather you in mine anger and in my fury, and I will leave you there, and melt you. | Come si raduna argento, bronzo, ferro piombo e stagno in mezzo alla fornace e si soffia su di essi il fuoco per fonderli così nella mia ira e nel mio furore vi radunerò, vi metterò là e vi fonderò |
| 21 | Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you in the fire of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst therof. | Vi radunerò e soffierò su di voi col fuoco della mia ira e voi sarete fusi in mezzo ad essa. |
| 22 | As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall ye be melted in the midst thereof; and ye shall know that I the LORD have poured out my fury upon you. | Come l'argento è fuso in mezzo alla fornace così voi sarete fusi in mezzo alla città; e riconoscerete che io l'Eterno, ho riversato su di voi il mio furore. |
| 23 | And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, | La parola dell'Eterno mi fu nuovamente rivolta, dicendo: |
| 24 | Son of man, say unto her, Thou art the land that is not cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation. | Figlio d'uomo, di' a Gerusalemme: Tu sei una terra che non è stata purificata o bagnata da pioggia in un giorno di indignazione. |
| 25 | There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof. | La cospirazione dei suoi profeti nel suo mezzo è come un leone ruggente che sbrana la preda, essi divorano la gente, si appropriano di tesori e cose preziose, accrescono le vedove in mezzo ad essa. |
| 26 | Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them. | I suoi sacerdoti violano la mia legge e profanano le mie cose sante; non distinguono fra santo e profano, non fanno conoscere la differenza tra l'impuro e il puro e distolgono i loro occhi dai miei sabati, per cui io sono profanato in mezzo a loro. |
| 27 | Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain. | I suoi capi in mezzo ad essa sono come lupi che dilaniano la preda per versare sangue e distruggere anime per realizzare un ingiusto guadagno. |
| 28 | And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord GOD, when the LORD hath not spoken. | I suoi profeti intonacano per loro con malta che non regge avendo visioni false e proferendo divinazioni bugiarde per loro, e dicono: Così dice il Signore, l'Eterno mentre l'Eterno non ha parlato. |
| 29 | The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully. | Il popolo del paese pratica l'oppressione, compie rapine, maltratta il povero e il bisognoso e opprime lo straniero violando la giustizia. |
| 30 | And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. | Io ho cercato fra loro un uomo che costruisse un muro e stesse sulla breccia davanti a me in favore del paese, perché io non lo distruggessi, ma non l'ho trovato. |
| 31 | Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD. | Perciò io riverserò su di loro la mia indignazione, li consumerò col fuoco della mia ira e farò ricadere sul loro capo la loro condotta, dice il Signore, l'Eterno. |
