| 2 | Son of man, set thy face toward Jerusalem, and drop [thy word] toward the sanctuaries, and prophesy against the land of Israel; | Figlio d'uomo, rivolgi la faccia verso Gerusalemme, parla apertamente contro i luoghi santi e profetizza contro il paese d'Israele; |
| 3 | and say to the land of Israel, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, and will draw forth my sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked. | e di' al paese d'Israele: Così dice l'Eterno: Ecco io sono contro di te. Io estrarrò la mia spada dal suo fodero e reciderò da te giusti e malvagi. |
| 4 | Seeing then that I will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north: | Poiché voglio recidere da te giusti e malvagi, la mia spada uscirà dal suo fodero contro ogni carne dal sud al nord. |
| 5 | and all flesh shall know that I, Jehovah, have drawn forth my sword out of its sheath; it shall not return any more. | Così ogni carne riconoscerà che io l'Eterno, ho estratto la mia spada dal suo fodero e non vi rientrerà più. |
| 6 | Sigh therefore, thou son of man; with the breaking of thy loins and with bitterness shalt thou sigh before their eyes. | Perciò tu, figlio d'uomo, gemi con i lombi rotti e gemi con dolore davanti ai loro occhi. |
| 7 | And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt say, Because of the tidings, for it cometh; and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it cometh, and it shall be done, saith the Lord Jehovah. | E avverrà che quando ti domanderanno: "Perché gemi?" risponderai: "Per la notizia che sta per giungere ogni cuore si struggerà, tutte le mani s'indeboliranno, tutti gli spiriti verranno meno e tutte le ginocchia si scioglieranno come acqua". Ecco la cosa giunge e si compirà, dice il Signore, l'Eterno. |

| 9 | Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith Jehovah: Say, A sword, a sword, it is sharpened, and also furbished; | Figlio d'uomo, profetizza e di Così dice il Signore. Di Una spada, una spada è affilata e anche lucidata. |
| 10 | it is sharpened that it may make a slaughter; it is furbished that it may be as lightning: shall we then make mirth? the rod of my son, it contemneth every tree. | affilata per fare un gran massacro e affilata per lampeggiare. Potremo forse rallegrarci? Voi disprezzate lo scettro di mio figlio come se fosse un qualsiasi legno. |
| 11 | And it is given to be furbished, that it may be handled: the sword, it is sharpened, yea, it is furbished, to give it into the hand of the slayer. | Il Signore l'ha data a lucidare per impugnarla, la spada è affilata e lucidata per darla in mano di chi uccide. |
| 12 | Cry and wail, son of man; for it is upon my people, it is upon all the princes of Israel: they are delivered over to the sword with my people; smite therefore upon thy thigh. | Grida e urla, figlio d'uomo, perché sarà usata contro il mio popolo, contro tutti i principi d'Israele, essi saranno consegnati in potere della spada insieme al mio popolo. | 14 | Thou therefore, son of man, prophesy, and smite thy hands together; and let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of the deadly wounded: it is the sword of the great one that is deadly wounded, which entereth into their chambers. | Perciò tu, figlio d'uomo, profetizza e batti le mani, lascia che la spada raddoppi e triplichi i suoi colpi: è la spada del massacro, è la spada del grande massacro, che li circonda da ogni lato. |
| 15 | I have set the threatening sword against all their gates, that their heart may melt, and their stumblings be multiplied: ah! it is made as lightning, it is pointed for slaughter. | Ho rivolto la punta della spada contro tutte le loro porte perché il loro cuore si strugga e molti cadano. | 19 | Also, thou son of man, appoint thee two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come; they twain shall come forth out of one land: and mark out a place, mark it out at the head of the way to the city. | Tu, figlio d'uomo, traccia due strade, per le quali passi la spada del re di Babilonia, partiranno ambedue dallo stesso paese. Metti un indicatore stradale, mettilo all'inizio della strada che porta alla città. |
| 20 | Thou shalt appoint a way for the sword to come to Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and to Judah in Jerusalem the fortified. | Traccia una strada per la quale la spada vada a Rabbah, città dei figli di Ammon, e un'altra perché vada in Giuda, contro Gerusalemme, città fortificata. |

| 23 | And it shall be unto them as a false divination in their sight, who have sworn oaths unto them; but he bringeth iniquity to remembrance, that they may be taken. | Ma per essi questo sarà come una falsa divinazione agli occhi di quelli che hanno fatto loro giuramenti. Ma egli si ricorderà della loro iniquità, perché siano presi. |
| 24 | Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye have made your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are uncovered, so that in all your doings your sins do appear; because that ye are come to remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand. | Perciò così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Poiché avete fatto ricordare la vostra iniquità, essendo le vostre trasgressioni messe a nudo e i vostri peccati palesati in tutte le vostre azioni; poiché siete stati ricordati, sarete presi dalla mano del nemico. |
| 25 | And thou, O deadly wounded wicked one, the prince of Israel, whose day is come, in the time of the iniquity of the end, | E tu, o corrotto e malvagio principe d'Israele, il cui giorno è giunto al tempo della punizione finale |
| 26 | thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Remove the mitre, and take off the crown; this [shall be] no more the same; exalt that which is low, and abase that which is high. | così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Deponi il turbante, togliti la corona; le cose non saranno più le stesse: ciò che è basso sarà innalzato e ciò che è alto sarà abbassato. |
| 27 | I will overturn, overturn, overturn it: this also shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it [him]. | Devastazione, devastazione, io la compirò. Ed essa non sarà più restaurata, finché non verrà colui a cui appartiene il giudizio e al quale io la darò. |
| 28 | And thou, son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah concerning the children of Ammon, and concerning their reproach; and say thou, A sword, a sword is drawn, for the slaughter it is furbished, to cause it to devour, that it may be as lightning; | E tu, figlio d'uomo, profetizza e di Così dice il Signore, l'Eterno, riguardo ai figli di Ammon a e riguardo al loro obbrobrio e di' la spada, la spada è sguainata, è lucidata per il massacro, per divorare, per lampeggiare. |
| 29 | while they see for thee false visions, while they divine lies unto thee, to lay thee upon the necks of the wicked that are deadly wounded, whose day is come in the time of the iniquity of the end. | mentre hanno per te false visioni e fanno a te divinazioni bugiarde, per metterti sul collo dei malvagi uccisi, il cui giorno è giunto al tempo della punizione finale. |
| 30 | Cause it to return into its sheath. In the place where thou wast created, in the land of thy birth, will I judge thee. | Rimetti la spada nel suo fodero. Io ti giudicherò nel luogo stesso dove fosti creata, nel paese della tua origine. |
| 31 | And I will pour out mine indignation upon thee; I will blow upon thee with the fire of my wrath; and I will deliver thee into the hand of brutish men, skilful to destroy. | Riverserò su di te la mia indignazione, soffierò contro di te nel fuoco della mia ira e ti consegnerò in mano di uomini brutali, artefici di distruzione. |
| 32 | Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt be no more remembered: for I, Jehovah, have spoken it. | Sarai preda del fuoco, il tuo sangue sarà sparso in mezzo al paese; non sarai più ricordata, perché io, l'Eterno, ho parlato. |
