| 1 | And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth [month], the tenth [day] of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of Jehovah, and sat before me. | Or avvenne nel settimo anno, il dieci del quinto mese, che alcuni degli anziani, d'Israele, vennero a consultare l'Eterno e sedettero davanti a me. |

| 3 | Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Is it to inquire of me that ye are come? As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will not be inquired of by you. | Figlio d'uomo, parla agli anziani d'Israele e di' loro: Così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Siete venuti per consultarmi? Com'è vero che io vivo, non mi lascerò consultare da voi, dice il Signore, l'Eterno. |
| 4 | Wilt thou judge them, son of man, wilt thou judge them? Cause them to know the abominations of their fathers; | Vuoi giudicarli, vuoi giudicarli, figlio d'uomo? Fa' loro conoscere le abominazioni dei loro padri, |
| 5 | and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: In the day when I chose Israel, and sware unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I sware unto them, saying, I am Jehovah your God; | e di' loro: Così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: il giorno in cui scelsi Israele e alzai la mano in giuramento ai discendenti della casa di Giacobbe, e mi feci loro conoscere nel paese d'Egitto, alzai la mano in giuramento a loro, dicendo: "Io sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO" |
| 6 | in that day I sware unto them, to bring them forth out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands. | In quel giorno alzai la mano giurando loro di farli uscire dal paese d'Egitto e di condurli in un paese che avevo esplorato per loro dove scorre latte e miele, la gloria di tutti i paesi. |
| 7 | And I said unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt; I am Jehovah your God. | Quindi dissi loro: Ognuno getti via le abominazioni che sono davanti ai suoi occhi e non contaminatevi con gli idoli d'Egitto. Io sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO. |
| 8 | But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me; they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt. | Ma essi si ribellarono, contro di me e non vollero ascoltarmi nessuno d'essi gettò via le abominazioni che erano davanti ai suoi occhi e non abbandonò gli idoli d'Egitto. Allora decisi di riversare su di loro il mio furore e di sfogare su di loro la mia ira in mezzo al paese d'Egitto. |
| 9 | But I wrought for my name`s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, among which they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt. | Tuttavia io agii per amore del mio nome, perché non fosse profanato davanti alle nazioni in mezzo alle quali si trovavano, agli occhi delle quali mi ero fatto loro conoscere, per farli uscire dal paese d'Egitto. |
| 10 | So I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness. | Così li feci uscire dal paese d'Egitto e li condussi nel deserto. |
| 11 | And I gave them my statutes, and showed them mine ordinances, which if a man do, he shall live in them. | Diedi loro i miei statuti e feci loro conoscere i miei decreti, osservando i quali l'uomo vivrà per essi. |
| 12 | Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am Jehovah that sanctifieth them. | Inoltre diedi loro i miei sabati, affinché fossero un segno fra me e loro, perché conoscessero che io, sono l'Eterno che li santifico. |
| 13 | But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they rejected mine ordinances, which if a man keep, he shall live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly profaned. Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them in the wilderness, to consume them. | Ma la casa d'Israele si ribellò contro di me nel deserto; non camminarono secondo i miei statuti e rigettarono i miei decreti, osservando i quali l'uomo vivrà per essi, e profanarono grandemente i miei sabati. Così io decisi di riversare su di loro il mio furore nel deserto, per consumarli. |
| 14 | But I wrought for my name`s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them out. | Tuttavia io agii per amore del mio nome, perché non fosse profanato davanti alle nazioni, agli occhi delle quali io li avevo fatti uscire dall'Egitto. |
| 15 | Moreover also I sware unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands; | Alzai perfino la mano nel deserto, giurando loro che non li avrei fatti entrare nel paese che avevo loro dato, dove scorre latte e miele, la gloria di tutti i paesi, |
| 16 | because they rejected mine ordinances, and walked not in my statutes, and profaned my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols. | perché avevano rigettato i miei decreti, non avevano camminato secondo i miei statuti e avevano profanato i miei sabati, perché il loro cuore andava dietro ai loro idoli. |
| 17 | Nevertheless mine eye spared them, and I destroyed them not, neither did I make a full end of them in the wilderness. | Tuttavia il mio occhio li risparmiò dalla distruzione e non li sterminai interamente nel deserto. |
| 18 | And I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their ordinances, nor defile yourselves with their idols. | Dissi quindi ai loro figli nel deserto: "Non camminate secondo gli statuti dei vostri padri, non osservate i loro decreti e non contaminatevi con i loro idoli. |
| 19 | I am Jehovah your God: walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them; | Io sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO, camminate secondo i miei statuti, osservate i miei decreti e metteteli in pratica, |
| 20 | and hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am Jehovah your God. | santificate i miei sabati e siano un segno fra me e voi, affinché conosciate che io sono l'Eterno il vostro DIO" |
| 21 | But the children rebelled against me; they walked not in my statutes, neither kept mine ordinances to do them, which if a man do, he shall live in them; they profaned my sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness. | Ma i figli si; ribellarono contro di me; non camminarono secondo i miei statuti e non osservarono i miei decreti per metterli in pratica, osservando i quali l'uomo vivrà per essi; profanarono i miei sabati, e così io decisi di riversare su di loro il mio furore e di sfogare su di loro la mia ira nel deserto. |
| 22 | Nevertheless I withdrew my hand, and wrought for my name`s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them forth. | Tuttavia io ritirai la mia mano ed agii per amore del mio nome, perché non fosse profanato davanti alle nazioni, agli occhi delle quali li avevo fatti uscire dall'Egitto. |
| 23 | Moreover I sware unto them in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the nations, and disperse them through the countries; | Alzai però la mano nel deserto, giurando loro che li avrei dispersi fra le nazioni e li avrei disseminati per tutti i paesi, |
| 24 | because they had not executed mine ordinances, but had rejected my statutes, and had profaned my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers` idols. | perché non mettevano in pratica i miei decreti, ma rigettavano i miei statuti, profanavano i miei sabati, e i loro occhi erano rivolti agli idoli dei loro padri. |
| 25 | Moreover also I gave them statutes that were not good, and ordinances wherein they should not live; | Perciò diedi loro statuti non buoni e decreti per i quali non potevano vivere; |
| 26 | and I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through [the fire] all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am Jehovah. | e li contaminai con i loro stessi doni, in quanto facevano passare per il fuoco ogni loro primogenito, per ridurli alla desolazione affinché riconoscessero che io sono l'Eterno. |
| 27 | Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: In this moreover have your fathers blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me. | Perciò figlio d'uomo, parla alla casa d'Israele e di' loro: Così dice il Signore, l'Eterno. I vostri padri mi hanno oltraggiato anche in questo, comportandosi infedelmente con me: |
| 28 | For when I had brought them into the land, which I sware to give unto them, then they saw every high hill, and every thick tree, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering; there also they made their sweet savor, and they poured out there their drink-offerings. | dopo che li ebbi introdotti nel paese, per il quale avevo alzato la mano e giurato, essi volsero lo sguardo ad ogni alto colle e a ogni albero frondoso e là offrirono i loro sacrifici e là presentarono le loro offerte provocanti; là pure misero i loro profumi di odor soave e là versarono le loro libazioni. |
| 29 | Then I said unto them, What meaneth the high place whereunto ye go? So the name thereof is called Bamah unto this day. | Allora dissi loro: Che cos'è l'alto luogo al quale voi andate?. Così si è continuato a chiamarlo alto luogo fino al giorno d'oggi. |
| 30 | Wherefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Do ye pollute yourselves after the manner of your fathers? and play ye the harlot after their abominations? | Per questo di' alla casa d'Israele: Così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Volete contaminarvi seguendo le vie dei vostri padri e prostituirvi ai loro idoli esecrandi? |
| 31 | and when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, do ye pollute yourselves with all your idols unto this day? and shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will not be inquired of by you; | Quando infatti offrite i vostri doni e fate passare per il fuoco i vostri figli, vi contaminate fino al giorno d'oggi con tutti i vostri idoli. Perciò non mi lascerò consultare da voi, o casa d'Israele. Com'è vero che io vivo, dice il Signore, l'Eterno, io non mi lascerò consultare da voi. |
| 32 | and that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, in that ye say, We will be as the nations, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone. | E non avverrà affatto ciò che vi viene in mente, quando dite: "Noi saremo come i gentili, come le famiglie degli altri paesi, che rendono un culto al legno e alla pietra". |
| 33 | As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, surely with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out, will I be king over you: | Com'è vero che io vivo, dice il Signore, l'Eterno, io regnerò su di voi con mano forte, con braccio disteso e con furore scatenato. |
| 34 | and I will bring you out from the peoples, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out; | Vi farò uscire di mezzo ai popoli e vi radunerò dai paesi nei quali siete stati dispersi con mano forte, con braccio disteso e con furore scatenato, |
| 35 | and I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there will I enter into judgment with you face to face. | e vi condurrò nel deserto dei popoli, e là eseguirò il mio giudizio su di voi, faccia a faccia. |
| 36 | Like as I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I enter into judgment with you, saith the Lord Jehovah. | Come ho eseguito il mio giudizio sui vostri padri nel deserto del paese d'Egitto, così eseguirò il mio giudizio su di voi, dice il Signore, l'Eterno. |
| 37 | And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant; | Vi farò passare sotto la verga e vi riporterò nei vincoli del patto. |
| 38 | and I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me; I will bring them forth out of the land where they sojourn, but they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am Jehovah. | Separerò di mezzo a voi i ribelli, e quelli che sono infedeli verso di me; li farò uscire dal paese dove dimorano, ma non entreranno nel paese d'Israele; allora riconoscerete che io sono l'Eterno. |
| 39 | As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Go ye, serve every one his idols, and hereafter also, if ye will not hearken unto me; but my holy name shall ye no more profane with your gifts, and with your idols. | Voi dunque, casa d'Israele, così parla il Signore, l'Eterno: Andate, servite ognuno i vostri idoli; ma in seguito mi darete ascolto e non profanerete più il mio santo nome con i vostri doni e con i vostri idoli. |
| 40 | For in my holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord Jehovah, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them, serve me in the land: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the first-fruits of your oblations, with all your holy things. | Poiché sul mio monte santo, sull'alto monte d'Israele, dice il Signore, l'Eterno, là tutta la casa d'Israele, tutti quanti saranno nel paese, mi servirà; là io mi compiacerò di loro, là richiederò le vostre offerte e le primizie dei vostri doni insieme a tutte le vostre cose consacrate. |
| 41 | As a sweet savor will I accept you, when I bring you out from the peoples, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you in the sight of the nations. | Io mi compiacerò di voi come di un profumo di odore soave, quando vi avrò fatti uscire di mezzo ai popoli e vi avrò radunati dai paesi nei quali siete stati dispersi; e sarò santificato in voi agli occhi, delle nazioni. |
| 42 | And ye shall know that I am Jehovah, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country which I sware to give unto your fathers. | Voi riconoscerete che io sono l'Eterno, quando vi condurrò nella terra d'Israele, nel paese per il quale avevo alzato la mano e giurato di dare ai vostri padri. |
| 43 | And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have polluted yourselves; and ye shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed. | Là ricorderete la vostra condotta e tutte le azioni con le quali vi siete contaminati e proverete disgusto di voi stessi per tutte le malvagità che avete commesso. |
| 44 | And ye shall know that I am Jehovah, when I have dealt with you for my name`s sake, not according to your evil ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord Jehovah. | Così riconoscerete che io sono l'Eterno, quando agirò con voi per amore del mio nome e non secondo la vostra condotta malvagia né secondo le vostre azioni corrotte, o casa d'Israele dice il Signore, l'Eterno. |
| 45 | And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, | La parola dell'Eterno mi fu rivolta dicendo: |
| 46 | Son of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop [thy word] toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the field in the South; | Figlio d'uomo. rivolgi la faccia verso il sud, parla apertamente contro il sud e profetizza contro la foresta della campagna, il Neghev, |
| 47 | and say to the forest of the South, Hear the word of Jehovah: Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burnt thereby. | e di' alla foresta del Neghev: Ascolta la parola dell'Eterno. Così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Ecco, io accendo in te un fuoco che divorerà in te ogni albero verde e ogni albero secco; la fiamma ardente non si spegnerà e ogni faccia dal sud al nord sarà bruciata. |
| 48 | And all flesh shall see that I, Jehovah, have kindled it; it shall not be quenched. | Ogni carne vedrà che io, l'Eterno, l'ho acceso; non si spegnerà. |
| 49 | Then said I, Ah Lord Jehovah! they say of me, Is he not a speaker of parables? | Allora dissi: Ah, Signore, Eterno essi dicono di me: Costui non parla forse in parabole? |
