| 1 | La septième année, au cinquième mois, le dix du mois, quelques-uns des anciens d'Israël vinrent consulter Yahweh et s'assirent devant moi. | And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth [month], the tenth [day] of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of Jehovah, and sat before me. |
| 2 | Et la parole de Yahweh me fut adressée en ces termes : | And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, |
| 3 | "Fils de l'homme, parle aux anciens d'Israël et dis-leur : Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh : Est-ce pour me consulter que vous êtes venus ? Je suis vivant : je ne me laisserai point consulter par vous, --oracle du Seigneur Yahweh. | Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Is it to inquire of me that ye are come? As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will not be inquired of by you. |
| 4 | Les jugeras-tu, les jugeras-tu, fils de l'homme ? Fais-leur connaître les abominations de leurs pères, | Wilt thou judge them, son of man, wilt thou judge them? Cause them to know the abominations of their fathers; |
| 5 | et dis-leur : Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh : Le jour où j'ai choisi Israël et où j'ai levé ma main pour la postérité de Jacob, où je me suis fait connaître à eux dans le pays d'Egypte, et où j'ai élevé ma main pour eux en disant : | and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: In the day when I chose Israel, and sware unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I sware unto them, saying, I am Jehovah your God; |
| 6 | Je suis Yahweh, votre Dieu, en ce jour-là j'ai levé ma main pour eux en leur jurant de les faire sortir du pays d'Égypte et de les amener dans un pays que j'avais exploré pour eux, où coulent le lait et le miel; c'était le joyau de tous les pays. | in that day I sware unto them, to bring them forth out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands. |
| 7 | Et je leur dis : Rejetez chacun les idoles infâmes de vos yeux, ne vous souillez pas par les abominations de l'Égypte. | And I said unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt; I am Jehovah your God. |
| 8 | Je suis Yahweh, votre Dieu. Mais ils se révoltèrent contre moi et ne voulurent pas m'écouter; ils n'abandonnèrent pas les abominations de l'Egypte. Je pensai à répandre sur eux mon courroux, à épuiser sur eux ma colère au milieu du pays d'Égypte. | But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me; they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt. |
| 9 | Mais j'agis à cause de mon nom, afin qu'il ne fût pas profané aux yeux des nations parmi lesquelles ils se trouvaient, à la vue desquelles je m'étais fait connaître à eux, pour les faire sortir du pays d'Égypte. | But I wrought for my name`s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, among which they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt. |
| 10 | Je les fis sortir du pays d'Egypte et je les conduisis au désert. | So I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness. |
| 11 | Je leur donnai mes préceptes et leur fis connaître mes ordonnances, par lesquelles l'homme qui les pratique aura la vie. | And I gave them my statutes, and showed them mine ordinances, which if a man do, he shall live in them. |
| 12 | Je leur donnai aussi mes sabbats pour servir de signe entre moi et eux, pour qu'ils connussent que je suis Yahweh qui les sanctifie. | Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am Jehovah that sanctifieth them. |
| 13 | Mais la maison d'Israël se révolta contre moi dans le désert; ils ne suivirent pas mes lois et rejetèrent mes ordonnances, par lesquelles l'homme qui les pratique vivra, et ils profanèrent extrêmement mes sabbats. Je pensai à reporter sur eux mon courroux dans le désert, pour les exterminer. | But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they rejected mine ordinances, which if a man keep, he shall live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly profaned. Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them in the wilderness, to consume them. |
| 14 | Mais j'agis à cause de mon nom, afin qu'il ne fût pas profané aux yeux des nations à la vue desquelles je les avais fait sortir. | But I wrought for my name`s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them out. |
| 15 | Et même je levai ma main contre eux dans le désert, leur jurant de ne pas les faire entrer dans le pays que je leur avais donné, où coulent le lait et le miel, | Moreover also I sware unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands; |
| 16 | et cela parce qu’ils rejetèrent mes préceptes et ne suivirent point mes ordonnances; et parce qu'ils avaient profané mes sabbats; car leur coeur suivait leurs idoles infâmes. | because they rejected mine ordinances, and walked not in my statutes, and profaned my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols. |
| 17 | Mais mon oeil eut pitié d'eux, pour ne pas les détruire; et je ne les exterminai pas dans le désert. | Nevertheless mine eye spared them, and I destroyed them not, neither did I make a full end of them in the wilderness. |
| 18 | Je dis à leurs fils dans le désert : Ne suivez pas les observances de vos pères, ne gardez pas leurs coutumes et ne vous souillez pas par leurs infâmes idoles. | And I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their ordinances, nor defile yourselves with their idols. |
| 19 | Je suis Yahweh, votre Dieu; suivez mes préceptes, observez mes ordonnances et pratiquez-les; | I am Jehovah your God: walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them; |
| 20 | et sanctifiez mes sabbats, pour qu'ils soient un signe entre moi et vous, afin que vous sachiez que je suis Yahweh, votre Dieu. | and hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am Jehovah your God. |
| 21 | Mais les fils se révoltèrent contre moi; ils ne suivirent pas mes préceptes et n'observèrent pas, en les mettant en pratique, mes ordonnances, par lesquelles l'homme qui les pratique vivra; et ils profanèrent mes sabbats. Je pensai à répandre mon courroux sur eux, à épuiser sur eux ma colère dans le désert. | But the children rebelled against me; they walked not in my statutes, neither kept mine ordinances to do them, which if a man do, he shall live in them; they profaned my sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness. |
| 22 | Mais j'ai détourné ma main et j'ai agi à cause de mon nom, afin qu'il ne fut pas profané aux yeux des nations à la vue desquelles je les avais fait sortir. | Nevertheless I withdrew my hand, and wrought for my name`s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them forth. |
| 23 | Même je levai ma main contre eux dans le dessert, leur jurant de les disperser parmi les nations et de les répandre dans les pays, | Moreover I sware unto them in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the nations, and disperse them through the countries; |
| 24 | parce qu'ils n'avaient pas pratiqué mes ordonnances, qu'ils avaient rejeté mes préceptes et profané mes sabbats, et que leurs yeux avaient suivi les idoles infâmes de leurs pères. | because they had not executed mine ordinances, but had rejected my statutes, and had profaned my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers` idols. |
| 25 | Et même je leur donnai des préceptes qui n'étaient pas bons, et des ordonnances par lesquelles ils ne pouvaient pas vivre. | Moreover also I gave them statutes that were not good, and ordinances wherein they should not live; |
| 26 | Et je les souillai par leurs offrandes, quand ils faisaient passer par le feu tout premier-né, et cela pour les ravager, afin qu'ils connussent que je suis Yahweh. | and I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through [the fire] all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am Jehovah. |
| 27 | C'est pourquoi parle à la maison d'Israël, fils de l'homme, et dis-leur : Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh : Encore en ceci vos pères m'ont outragé; en ce qu'ils ont été infidèles envers moi. | Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: In this moreover have your fathers blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me. |
| 28 | Quand je les fais fait entrer dans le pays que j'avais juré, la main levée, de leur donner, partout où ils ont vu une colline élevée et un arbre touffu, ils y ont offert leurs sacrifices et présenté leurs offrandes qui excitaient ma colère; ils y ont apporté leurs parfums d'agréable odeur et y ont répandu leurs libations. | For when I had brought them into the land, which I sware to give unto them, then they saw every high hill, and every thick tree, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering; there also they made their sweet savor, and they poured out there their drink-offerings. |
| 29 | Et je leur dis : qu'est ce que le haut lieu où vous allez ? Et il fut appelé haut lieu, jusqu'à ce jour. | Then I said unto them, What meaneth the high place whereunto ye go? So the name thereof is called Bamah unto this day. |
| 30 | C'est pourquoi dis à la maison d'Israël : Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh : Quoi! Vous vous souillez à la manière de vos pères, et vous vous prostituez après leurs abominations! | Wherefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Do ye pollute yourselves after the manner of your fathers? and play ye the harlot after their abominations? |
| 31 | En présentant vos offrandes, en faisant passer vos enfants par le feu, vous vous souillez avec toutes vos infâmes idoles jusqu'à aujourd'hui, et moi, je me laisserai consulter par vous, maison d'Israël ? Je suis vivant, -- oracle du Seigneur Yahweh : je ne me laisserai pas consulter par vous. | and when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, do ye pollute yourselves with all your idols unto this day? and shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will not be inquired of by you; |
| 32 | Et elle ne se réalisera pas la pensée qui monte à votre esprit, quand vous dites : Nous serons comme les nations, comme les autres familles des pays, servant le bois et la pierre. | and that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, in that ye say, We will be as the nations, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone. |
| 33 | Je suis vivant, --oracle du Seigneur Yahweh : à main forte, à bras étendu, à courroux répandu je régnerai sur vous! | As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, surely with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out, will I be king over you: |
| 34 | Je vous ferai sortir du milieu des peuples, et je vous rassemblerai des pays où vous avez été dispersés à main forte, à bras étendu et à courroux répandu. | and I will bring you out from the peoples, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out; |
| 35 | Et je vous mènerai au désert des peuples, et là j'entrerai en jugement avec vous face à face. | and I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there will I enter into judgment with you face to face. |
| 36 | Comme je suis entré en jugement avec vos pères dans le désert du pays d'Egypte, ainsi j'entrerai en jugement avec vous, --oracle du Seigneur Yahweh. | Like as I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I enter into judgment with you, saith the Lord Jehovah. |
| 37 | Et je vous ferai passer sous la houlette et je vous amènerai sous la discipline de l'alliance. | And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant; |
| 38 | Et je séparerai d'avec vous les rebelles et ceux qui se sont détachés de moi; je les tirerai du pays où ils sont étrangers, mais ils ne viendront pas au pays d'Israël, et vous saurez que je suis Yahweh. | and I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me; I will bring them forth out of the land where they sojourn, but they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am Jehovah. |
| 39 | Et vous, maison d'Israël, ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh : Allez servir chacun vos idoles! Mais, après cela, certainement vous m'écouterez et vous ne profanerez plus mon saint nom par vos offrandes et vos infâmes idoles. | As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Go ye, serve every one his idols, and hereafter also, if ye will not hearken unto me; but my holy name shall ye no more profane with your gifts, and with your idols. |
| 40 | Car sur ma montagne sainte, sur la haute montagne d'Israël, --oracle du Seigneur Yahweh, -- là toute la maison d'Israël, tout ce qu'il y a dans le pays me servira. Là je prendrai plaisir en eux; là je rechercherai vos offrandes et les prémices de vos dons en tout ce que vous me consacrerez. | For in my holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord Jehovah, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them, serve me in the land: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the first-fruits of your oblations, with all your holy things. |
| 41 | Je prendrai plaisir en vous comme en un parfum d'agréable odeur, quand je vous aurai fait sortir d'entre les peuples et que je vous aurai rassemblés des pays où vous êtes dispersés; et je me sanctifierai en vous aux yeux des nations. | As a sweet savor will I accept you, when I bring you out from the peoples, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you in the sight of the nations. |
| 42 | Et vous saurez que je suis Yahweh, quand je vous aurai amenés dans la terre d'Israël, au pays que j'ai juré, la main levée, de donner à vos pères. | And ye shall know that I am Jehovah, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country which I sware to give unto your fathers. |
| 43 | Là vous vous souviendrez de vos voies et de tous les crimes par lesquels vous vous êtes souillés; et vous vous prendrez vous-mêmes en dégoût pour toutes les mauvaises actions que vous avez commises. | And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have polluted yourselves; and ye shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed. |
| 44 | Et vous saurez que je suis Yahweh quand j'agirai envers vous à cause de mon nom, et non selon vos voies mauvaises et vos crimes détestables, maison d'Israël, --oracle du Seigneur Yahweh. | And ye shall know that I am Jehovah, when I have dealt with you for my name`s sake, not according to your evil ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord Jehovah. |
| 45 | La parole de Yahweh me fut adressée en ces termes : | And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, |
| 46 | "Fils de l'homme, tourne ta face dans la direction de Théman; fais découler ta parole vers le sud, et prophétise contre la forêt de la campagne du midi; | Son of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop [thy word] toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the field in the South; |
| 47 | et dis à la forêt du midi : Ecoute la parole de Yahweh! Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh : Voici que je vais allumer au milieu de toi un feu, et il dévorera en toi tout arbre vert et tout arbre sec; la flamme dévorante ne s'éteindra point, et toute face sera brûlée par elle, du midi au septentrion. | and say to the forest of the South, Hear the word of Jehovah: Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burnt thereby. |
| 48 | Et toute chair verra que c'est moi, Yahweh, qui l'ai allumée, et elle ne s'éteindra pas. | And all flesh shall see that I, Jehovah, have kindled it; it shall not be quenched. |
| 49 | Et je dis : "Ah! Seigneur Yahweh, ils disent de moi : Est-ce qu'il ne parle pas en paraboles ?" | Then said I, Ah Lord Jehovah! they say of me, Is he not a speaker of parables? |
