| 2 | And say, What is thy mother? A lioness: she lay down among lions, she nourished her whelps among young lions. | Che cos'era tua madre? Una leonessa: stava accovacciata tra i leoni, allevava i suoi piccoli in mezzo ai leoncelli. |
| 3 | And she brought up one of her whelps: it became a young lion, and it learned to catch the prey; it devoured men. | Fece crescere uno dei suoi piccoli che divenne un leoncello; imparò a sbranare la preda e divorò uomini. |
| 4 | The nations also heard of him; he was taken in their pit, and they brought him with chains unto the land of Egypt. | Anche le nazioni sentirono parlare di lui; egli fu preso nella loro fossa e lo condussero incatenato nel paese d'Egitto. |
| 5 | Now when she saw that she had waited, and her hope was lost, then she took another of her whelps, and made him a young lion. | Quando essa vide che l'attesa si protraeva e la sua speranza era perduta, prese un altro dei suoi piccoli e ne fece un leoncello. |

| 7 | And he knew their desolate palaces, and he laid waste their cities; and the land was desolate, and the fulness thereof, by the noise of his roaring. | Venne a conoscere i loro luoghi desolati e devastò le loro città; il paese con tutto quello che conteneva fu desolato al rumore del suo ruggito. |
| 8 | Then the nations set against him on every side from the provinces, and spread their net over him: he was taken in their pit. | Ma contro di lui vennero le nazioni da tutte le regioni circostanti, tesero su di lui la loro rete e fu preso nella loro fossa. |
| 9 | And they put him in ward in chains, and brought him to the king of Babylon: they brought him into holds, that his voice should no more be heard upon the mountains of Israel. | Lo misero incatenato in una gabbia e lo condussero al re di Babilonia; lo condussero in una fortezza, perché la sua voce non fosse più udita sui monti d'Israele. |
| 10 | Thy mother is like a vine in thy blood, planted by the waters: she was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters. | Tua madre era simile a una vite piantata vicino alle acque; era rigogliosa e aveva molti rami per l'acqua abbondante. |
| 11 | And she had strong rods for the sceptres of them that bare rule, and her stature was exalted among the thick branches, and she appeared in her height with the multitude of her branches. | Aveva rami robusti idonei per scettri reali, nella sua altezza sovrastava sul folto dei rami ed appariva nella sua elevatezza per la moltitudine dei suoi rami. |
| 12 | But she was plucked up in fury, she was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up her fruit: her strong rods were broken and withered; the fire consumed them. | Ma fu sradicata con furore e gettata a terra; il vento dell'est ne seccò il frutto i suoi forti rami furono strappati via e seccarono, il fuoco li divorò. |
| 13 | And now she is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty ground. | Ora è piantata nel deserto in un suolo arido ed assetato; |
| 14 | And fire is gone out of a rod of her branches, which hath devoured her fruit, so that she hath no strong rod to be a sceptre to rule. This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation. | un fuoco è uscito da una verga dei suoi rami e ne ha divorato il frutto; in essa non c'è più alcun ramo robusto idoneo per scettri reali. Questa è una lamentazione ed è diventata una lamentazione. |
