| 3 | Elle éleva l'un de ses petits, et ce fut un jeune lion; il apprit à déchirer sa proie; il dévorait des hommes. | And she brought up one of her whelps: he became a young lion, and he learned to catch the prey; he devoured men. |
| 4 | Les nations entendirent parler de lui; il fut pris dans leur fosse. Elles le conduisirent, avec des crochets aux mâchoires; au pays de l'Egypte. | The nations also heard of him; he was taken in their pit; and they brought him with hooks unto the land of Egypt. |
| 5 | Et la lionne vit qu'elle attendait en vain, et que son espoir était perdu; elle prit un autre de ses petits, et en lit un lion. | Now when she saw that she had waited, and her hope was lost, then she took another of her whelps, and made him a young lion. |
| 6 | Il marcha au milieu des lions, et ce fut un jeune lion; il apprit à déchirer sa proie; il dévorait des hommes. | And he went up and down among the lions; he became a young lion, and he learned to catch the prey; he devoured men. |
| 7 | Il connut leurs veuves, et il ravagea leurs villes; le pays et ce qu'il contenait fut épouvanté du bruit de son rugissement. | And he knew their palaces, and laid waste their cities; and the land was desolate, and the fulness thereof, because of the noise of his roaring. |
| 8 | Alors les peuples des contrées d'alentour dressèrent contre lui et étendirent sur lui leurs filets, et il fut pris dans leur fosse. | Then the nations set against him on every side from the provinces; and they spread their net over him; he was taken in their pit. |
| 9 | Ils le mirent dans une cage, avec des crochets aux mâchoires, et le conduisirent au roi de Babylone; et ils le conduisirent dans des forteresses, afin qu'on n'entendît plus sa voix sur les montagnes d'Israël. | And they put him in a cage with hooks, and brought him to the king of Babylon; they brought him into strongholds, that his voice should no more be heard upon the mountains of Israel. |
| 10 | Ta mère était comme une vigne, au temps de ta prospérité; elle était plantée au bord de, eaux; elle donna du fruit et poussa du feuillage, à cause des eaux abondantes. | Thy mother was like a vine, in thy blood, planted by the waters: it was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters. |
| 11 | Elle avait des branches vigoureuses, pour des sceptres de souverains, et sa taille était élevée parmi les rameaux touffus. Elle apparut dans sa grandeur, avec la multitude de ses sarments. | And it had strong rods for the sceptres of them that bare rule, and their stature was exalted among the thick boughs, and they were seen in their height with the multitude of their branches. |
| 12 | Mais elle a été arrachée avec fureur, et elle a été jetée par terre; et le vent d'orient a desséché son fruit. Ses branches vigoureuses ont été rompues et desséchées; le feu les a dévorées. | But it was plucked up in fury, it was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit: its strong rods were broken off and withered; the fire consumed them. |
| 13 | Et maintenant, elle est plantée dans le désert, dans une terre sèche et aride. | And now it is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty land. |
| 14 | Un feu est sorti d'un de ses rameaux, il a dévoré son fruit; elle n'a plus de rameaux puissants, de sceptre pour dominer." | And fire is gone out of the rods of its branches, it hath devoured its fruit, so that there is in it no strong rod to be a sceptre to rule. This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation. |
