| 3 | And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto Jerusalem; Thy birth and thy nativity is of the land of Canaan; thy father was an Amorite, and thy mother an Hittite. | e di': Così dice il Signore, l'Eterno a Gerusalemme: La tua origine e la tua nascita sono dal paese di Canaan; tuo padre era un Amorreo e tua madre una Hittea. |
| 4 | And as for thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to supple thee; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all. | Alla tua nascita, il giorno in cui fosti partorita, non ti fu tagliato l'ombelico, non fosti lavata con acqua per pulirti, non fosti sfregata con sale né fosti avvolta in fasce. |

| 7 | I have caused thee to multiply as the bud of the field, and thou hast increased and waxen great, and thou art come to excellent ornaments: thy breasts are fashioned, and thine hair is grown, whereas thou wast naked and bare. | Ti feci crescere a miriadi come i germogli dei campi; e tu crescesti, ti facesti grande e diventasti molto bella. | 8 | Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord GOD, and thou becamest mine. | Io ti passai vicino e ti guardai, ed ecco, il tuo tempo era il tempo dell'amore. Così stesi il lembo della mia veste su di te e copersi la tua nudità, ti feci un giuramento, stabilii un patto con te e tu divenisti mia, dice il Signore, l'Eterno. |
| 9 | Then washed I thee with water; yea, I throughly washed away thy blood from thee, and I anointed thee with oil. | Ti lavai con acqua, ti ripulii interamente del sangue e ti unsi con olio. |
| 10 | I clothed thee also with broidered work, and shod thee with badgers' skin, and I girded thee about with fine linen, and I covered thee with silk. | Ti feci quindi indossare vesti ricamate, ti misi calzari di pelle di tasso, ti cinsi il capo di lino fino e ti ricopersi di seta. |
| 11 | I decked thee also with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck. | Ti abbellii di ornamenti ti misi i braccialetti ai polsi e una collana al collo. |
| 12 | And I put a jewel on thy forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thine head. | Ti misi un anello al naso, orecchini agli orecchi e una splendida corona sul capo |
| 13 | Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper into a kingdom. | Così fosti adorna d'oro e d'argento e fosti rivestita di lino fino di seta e di ricami. Tu mangiasti fior di farina, miele e olio; diventasti molto, molto bella e giungesti fino a regnare. |
| 14 | And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD. | La tua fama si diffuse tra le nazioni per la tua bellezza, che era perfetta, a motivo del mio splendore che avevo riposto su di te, dice il Signore, l'Eterno. |
| 15 | But thou didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy fornications on every one that passed by; his it was. | Ma tu ponesti la fiducia nella tua bellezza e ti prostituisti a motivo della tua fama e prodigasti le tue prostituzioni a ogni passante, che era consenziente. |
| 16 | And of thy garments thou didst take, and deckedst thy high places with divers colours, and playedst the harlot thereupon: the like things shall not come, neither shall it be so. | Tu prendesti alcune delle tue vesti, ti facesti degli alti luoghi di vari colori e su di essi ti prostituisti, cose che non avrebbero dovuto accadere e neppure esserci. |
| 17 | Thou hast also taken thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee, and madest to thyself images of men, and didst commit whoredom with them, | Prendesti pure i tuoi bei gioielli fatti del mio oro e del mio argento, che io ti avevo dato, te ne facesti delle immagini d'uomo e ad esse ti prostituisti; |
| 18 | And tookest thy broidered garments, and coveredst them: and thou hast set mine oil and mine incense before them. | poi prendesti le tue vesti ricamate, le ricopristi e offristi davanti ad esse il mio olio e il mio incenso. |
| 19 | My meat also which I gave thee, fine flour, and oil, and honey, wherewith I fed thee, thou hast even set it before them for a sweet savour: and thus it was, saith the Lord GOD. | Anche il mio pane che ti avevo dato, il fior di farina, l'olio e il miele di cui ti nutrivo, li ponesti davanti ad esse come un profumo di soave odore; così è avvenuto, dice il Signore, l'Eterno. |
| 20 | Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto me, and these hast thou sacrificed unto them to be devoured. Is this of thy whoredoms a small matter, | Inoltre prendesti i tuoi figli e le tue figlie che mi avevi partorito e li sacrificasti loro per essere divorati. Erano forse poca cosa le tue prostituzioni, |
| 21 | That thou hast slain my children, and delivered them to cause them to pass through the fire for them? | che tu dovresti scannare i miei figli e offrirli loro facendoli passare per il fuoco? |
| 22 | And in all thine abominations and thy whoredoms thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, when thou wast naked and bare, and wast polluted in thy blood. | Con tutte le tue abominazioni e le tue prostituzioni non ti sei ricordata dei giorni della tua giovinezza, quando eri nuda e nel bisogno e ti dibattevi nel sangue. |
| 23 | And it came to pass after all thy wickedness, (woe, woe unto thee! saith the LORD GOD;) | Ora dopo tutta la tua malvagità, Guai, guai a te!, dice il Signore, l'Eterno; |
| 24 | That thou hast also built unto thee an eminent place, and hast made thee an high place in every street. | in ogni piazza ti sei costruita una nicchia e ti sei fatta un alto luogo; |
| 25 | Thou hast built thy high place at every head of the way, and hast made thy beauty to be abhorred, and hast opened thy feet to every one that passed by, and multiplied thy whoredoms. | all'inizio di ogni strada hai costruito un alto luogo, hai reso abominevole la tua bellezza, e hai allargato le tue gambe ad ogni passante, moltiplicando le tue prostituzioni. |
| 26 | Thou hast also committed fornication with the Egyptians thy neighbours, great of flesh; and hast increased thy whoredoms, to provoke me to anger. | Ti sei pure prostituita agli Egiziani, tuoi corpulenti vicini, e hai moltiplicato le tue prostituzioni per provocarmi ad ira. |
| 27 | Behold, therefore I have stretched out my hand over thee, and have diminished thine ordinary food, and delivered thee unto the will of them that hate thee, the daughters of the Philistines, which are ashamed of thy lewd way. | Perciò, ecco, io ho steso la mia mano contro di te, ho diminuito la tua porzione assegnata e ti ho dato in balìa di quelli che ti odiano, le figlie dei Filistei, che hanno vergogna della tua condotta scellerata. |
| 28 | Thou hast played the whore also with the Assyrians, because thou wast unsatiable; yea, thou hast played the harlot with them, and yet couldest not be satisfied. | Non ancora soddisfatta, ti sei prostituita agli Assiri; sì, ti sei prostituita a loro, senza però essere soddisfatta. |
| 29 | Thou hast moreover multiplied thy fornication in the land of Canaan unto Chaldea; and yet thou wast not satisfied therewith. | Così hai moltiplicato le tue prostituzioni col paese di Canaan fino in Caldea, ma neppure con questo sei stata soddisfatta. |
| 30 | How weak is thine heart, saith the LORD GOD, seeing thou doest all these things, the work of an imperious whorish woman; | Com'è depravato il tuo cuore, dice il Signore, l'Eterno, nel fare tutte queste cose da sfacciata prostituta! |
| 31 | In that thou buildest thine eminent place in the head of every way, and makest thine high place in every street; and hast not been as an harlot, in that thou scornest hire; | Ti costruivi la nicchia all'inizio di ogni strada e ti facevi gli alti luoghi in ogni piazza, però non eri come una prostituta, perché disprezzavi la paga, |
| 32 | But as a wife that committeth adultery, which taketh strangers instead of her husband! | ma come una donna adultera, che invece di suo marito accoglie gli stranieri. |
| 33 | They give gifts to all whores: but thou givest thy gifts to all thy lovers, and hirest them, that they may come unto thee on every side for thy whoredom. | A tutte le prostitute si fanno regali, ma tu hai fatto regali a tutti i tuoi amanti e con doni li hai indotti a venire a te da ogni parte per le tue prostituzioni. |
| 34 | And the contrary is in thee from other women in thy whoredoms, whereas none followeth thee to commit whoredoms: and in that thou givest a reward, and no reward is given unto thee, therefore thou art contrary. | Nelle tue prostituzioni ti sei comportata al contrario delle altre donne: nessuno ti correva dietro per prostituirsi in quanto tu davi la paga invece di ricevere la paga, così ti sei comportata al contrario delle altre. |
| 35 | Wherefore, O harlot, hear the word of the LORD: | Perciò, o prostituta ascolta la parola dell'Eterno. |
| 36 | Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thy filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers, and with all the idols of thy abominations, and by the blood of thy children, which thou didst give unto them; | Così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Poiché il tuo denaro è stato sperperato e la tua nudità scoperta nelle tue prostituzioni con i tuoi amanti e con tutti i tuoi idoli abominevoli e a motivo del sangue dei tuoi figli che hai loro offerto, |
| 37 | Behold, therefore I will gather all thy lovers, with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all them that thou hast loved, with all them that thou hast hated; I will even gather them round about against thee, and will discover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness. | ecco, io radunerò tutti i tuoi amanti con i quali hai provato piacere, tutti quelli che hai amato insieme a quelli che hai odiato; li radunerò da ogni parte contro di te e scoprirò davanti a loro la tua nudità, perché essi vedano tutta la tua nudità. |
| 38 | And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will give thee blood in fury and jealousy. | Ti giudicherò come si giudicano le adultere e quelle che spandono sangue e farò venire su di te il sangue del furore e della gelosia. |
| 39 | And I will also give thee into their hand, and they shall throw down thine eminent place, and shall break down thy high places: they shall strip thee also of thy clothes, and shall take thy fair jewels, and leave thee naked and bare. | Ti darò quindi nelle loro mani ed essi abbatteranno la tua nicchia e demoliranno i tuoi alti luoghi, ti spoglieranno inoltre delle tue vesti, porteranno via i tuoi splendidi gioielli e ti lasceranno nuda e nel bisogno. |
| 40 | They shall also bring up a company against thee, and they shall stone thee with stones, and thrust thee through with their swords. | Poi faranno salire contro di te una moltitudine e ti lapideranno con pietre e ti trafiggeranno con le loro spade. |
| 41 | And they shall burn thine houses with fire, and execute judgments upon thee in the sight of many women: and I will cause thee to cease from playing the harlot, and thou also shalt give no hire any more. | Daranno alle fiamme le tue case ed eseguiranno giudizi su di te sotto gli occhi di molte donne; ti farò smettere dal prostituirti e non darai più alcuna paga. |
| 42 | So will I make my fury toward thee to rest, and my jealousy shall depart from thee, and I will be quiet, and will be no more angry. | Così placherò il mio furore su di te e la mia gelosia si allontanerà da te; mi acqueterò e non mi adirerò più. |
| 43 | Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, but hast fretted me in all these things; behold, therefore I also will recompense thy way upon thine head, saith the Lord GOD: and thou shalt not commit this lewdness above all thine abominations. | Poiché tu non ti sei ricordata dei giorni della tua giovinezza e mi hai fatto infuriare con tutte queste cose, ecco, anch'io ti farò ricadere sul capo, le tue azioni, dice il Signore, l'Eterno, così non commetterai altre scelleratezze oltre tutte le tue abominazioni. |
| 44 | Behold, every one that useth proverbs shall use this proverb against thee, saying, As is the mother, so is her daughter. | Chiunque proferirà proverbi, proferirà questo proverbio contro di te: "Quale la madre, tale la figlia". |
| 45 | Thou art thy mother's daughter, that lotheth her husband and her children; and thou art the sister of thy sisters, which lothed their husbands and their children: your mother was an Hittite, and your father an Amorite. | Tu sei veramente figlia di tua madre che ha rigettato il proprio marito e i propri figli, e sei sorella delle tue sorelle che hanno rigettato i loro mariti e i loro figli. Vostra madre era una Hittea e vostro padre un Amorreo. |
| 46 | And thine elder sister is Samaria, she and her daughters that dwell at thy left hand: and thy younger sister, that dwelleth at thy right hand, is Sodom and her daughters. | Tua sorella maggiore è Samaria, che con le sue figlie abita alla tua sinistra; tua sorella minore è Sodoma, che con le sue figlie abita alla tua destra. |
| 47 | Yet hast thou not walked after their ways, nor done after their abominations: but, as if that were a very little thing, thou wast corrupted more than they in all thy ways. | Tu non soltanto hai camminato nelle loro vie e commesso le loro abominazioni ma, come se questo fosse troppo poco, in tutte le tue vie ti sei corrotta più di loro. |
| 48 | As I live, saith the Lord GOD, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters. | Com'è vero che io vivo, dice il Signore, l'Eterno, tua sorella Sodoma e le sue figlie non hanno fatto ciò che hai fatto tu con le tue figlie. |
| 49 | Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. | Ecco, questa fu l'iniquità di tua sorella Sodoma: lei e le sue figlie vivevano nell'orgoglio, nell'abbondanza del pane e in una grande indolenza, ma non sostenevano la mano dell'afflitto e del povero. |
| 50 | And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good. | Erano altezzose e commettevano abominazioni davanti a me; perciò le tolsi di mezzo, quando vidi ciò. |
| 51 | Neither hath Samaria committed half of thy sins; but thou hast multiplied thine abominations more than they, and hast justified thy sisters in all thine abominations which thou hast done. | Samaria non ha neppure commesso la metà dei tuoi peccati; tu hai moltiplicato le tue abominazioni più di loro e hai giustificato le tue sorelle con tutte le abominazioni che hai commesso. |
| 52 | Thou also, which hast judged thy sisters, bear thine own shame for thy sins that thou hast committed more abominable than they: they are more righteous than thou: yea, be thou confounded also, and bear thy shame, in that thou hast justified thy sisters. | Tu, che hai giudicato le tue sorelle, porta il tuo vituperio, perché con i peccati che hai commesso ti sei resa più abominevole di loro; esse sono più giuste di te. Su vergognati e porta il tuo vituperio, perché hai giustificato le tue sorelle. |
| 53 | When I shall bring again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, then will I bring again the captivity of thy captives in the midst of them: | Quando farò ritornare i loro prigionieri, i prigionieri di Sodoma e le sue figlie, i prigionieri di Samaria e le sue figlie, allora farò ritornare anche i prigionieri della tua cattività che sono in mezzo a loro, |
| 54 | That thou mayest bear thine own shame, and mayest be confounded in all that thou hast done, in that thou art a comfort unto them. | affinché porti il tuo vituperio e ti vergogni di tutto ciò che hai fatto, quando le hai confortate. |
| 55 | When thy sisters, Sodom and her daughters, shall return to their former estate, and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former estate, then thou and thy daughters shall return to your former estate. | Quando le tue sorelle, Sodoma e le sue figlie, ritorneranno nella loro condizione di prima e Samaria e le sue figlie ritorneranno nella loro condizione di prima, anche tu e le tue figlie ritornerete nella vostra condizione di prima. |
| 56 | For thy sister Sodom was not mentioned by thy mouth in the day of thy pride, | Tua sorella Sodoma non era neppure menzionata dalla tua bocca nei giorni del tuo orgoglio, |
| 57 | Before thy wickedness was discovered, as at the time of thy reproach of the daughters of Syria, and all that are round about her, the daughters of the Philistines, which despise thee round about. | prima che la tua malvagità fosse messa a nudo, come avvenne quando fosti oltraggiata dalle figlie della Siria e da tutti quelli intorno ad essa, dalle figlie dei Filistei, che ti disprezzavano da ogni parte. |
| 58 | Thou hast borne thy lewdness and thine abominations, saith the LORD. | Tu porti la pena della tua scelleratezza e delle tue abominazioni, dice l'Eterno. |
| 59 | For thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even deal with thee as thou hast done, which hast despised the oath in breaking the covenant. | Poiché così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Io farò a te come hai fatto tu, che hai disprezzato il giuramento rompendo il patto. |
| 60 | Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant. | Tuttavia mi ricorderò del patto stabilito con te nei giorni della tua giovinezza e stabilirò con te un patto eterno. |
| 61 | Then thou shalt remember thy ways, and be ashamed, when thou shalt receive thy sisters, thine elder and thy younger: and I will give them unto thee for daughters, but not by thy covenant. | Allora ti ricorderai della tua condotta e ti vergognerai, quando riceverai le tue sorelle, quelle che sono più grandi e quelle che sono più piccole di te; e io le darò a te per figlie, ma non in virtù del tuo patto. |
| 62 | And I will establish my covenant with thee; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: | IO stabilirò il mio patto con te e tu riconoscerai che io sono l'Eterno |
| 63 | That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord GOD. | perché ti ricordi, ti vergogni e non apra più la tua bocca a motivo della tua confusione quando avrò fatto espiazione per tutto ciò che hai fatto, dice il Signore, l'Eterno. |
