| 2 | Fils d'homme, que vaut le bois de la vigne plus que les autres bois? et les sarments plus que les branches des arbres d'une forêt? | Son of man, what is the vine-tree more than any tree, the vine-branch which is among the trees of the forest? |
| 3 | En prendra-t-on du bois pour en faire quelque ouvrage? ou en prendra-t-on un croc pour y pendre quelque chose? | Shall wood be taken thereof to make any work? or will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon? |
| 4 | Voici, on le met au feu pour être consumé: le feu a consumé aussitôt ses deux bouts, et le milieu est en feu; vaut-il rien pour quelque ouvrage? | Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire hath devoured both the ends of it, and the midst of it is burned: is it profitable for any work? |
| 5 | Voici, quand il est entier, on n'en fait aucun ouvrage; combien moins quand le feu l'aura consumé, et qu'il sera brûlé, sera-t-il propre pour quelque ouvrage? | Behold, when it was whole, it was meet for no work: how much less, when the fire hath devoured it, and it is burned, shall it yet be meet for any work! |
| 6 | C'est pourquoi ainsi a dit le Seigneur l'Eternel: comme le bois de la vigne est tel entre les arbres d'une forêt, que je l'ai assigné au feu pour être consumé; ainsi je livrerai les habitants de Jérusalem. | Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: As the vine-tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem. |
| 7 | Et je me tournerai contre eux; seront-ils sortis du feu? encore le feu les consumera; et vous saurez que je suis l'Eternel, quand je me serai tourné contre eux. | And I will set my face against them; they shall go forth from the fire, but the fire shall devour them; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah, when I set my face against them. |
| 8 | Et je ferai que le pays ne sera que désolation; parce qu'ils ont commis une infidélité, dit le Seigneur l'Eternel. | And I will make the land desolate, because they have committed a trespass, saith the Lord Jehovah. |
