| 1 | When Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses' father in law, heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people, and that the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt; | Or, Jéthro, sacrificateur de Madian, beau-père de Moïse, apprit tout ce que Dieu avait fait à Moïse et à Israël, son peuple, et que l'Éternel avait retiré Israël de l'Égypte. | Or Jethro, sacerdote di Madian, suocero di Mosè, udì tutto ciò che DIO aveva fatto per Mosè e per Israele suo popolo: come l'Eterno aveva fatto uscire Israele dall'Egitto. |

| 8 | And Moses told his father in law all that the LORD had done unto Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel's sake, and all the travail that had come upon them by the way, and how the LORD delivered them. | Et Moïse raconta à son beau-père tout ce que l'Éternel avait fait à Pharaon et aux Égyptiens en faveur d'Israël, toute la peine qui leur était survenue par le chemin, et comment l'Éternel les avait délivrés. | Allora Mosè raccontò a suo suocero tutto ciò che l'Eterno aveva fatto al Faraone e agli Egiziani a motivo d'Israele, tutte le avversità incontrate durante il viaggio, e come l'Eterno li aveva liberati. |
| 9 | And Jethro rejoiced for all the goodness which the LORD had done to Israel, whom he had delivered out of the hand of the Egyptians. | Et Jéthro se réjouit de tout le bien que l'Éternel avait fait à Israël, de ce qu'il l'avait délivré de la main des Égyptiens. | E Jethro si rallegrò di tutto il bene che l'Eterno aveva fatto a Israele, liberandolo dalla mano degli Egiziani. |
| 10 | And Jethro said, Blessed be the LORD, who hath delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of Pharaoh, who hath delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians. | Et Jéthro dit: Béni soit l'Éternel qui vous a délivrés de la main des Égyptiens et de la main de Pharaon; qui a délivré le peuple de la puissance des Égyptiens! | Quindi Jethro disse: Benedetto sia l'Eterno, che vi ha liberati dalla mano degli Egiziani e dalla mano del Faraone, e ha liberato il popolo dal giogo degli Egiziani! |
| 11 | Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them. | Maintenant je connais que l'Éternel est plus grand que tous les dieux; car lorsqu'ils se sont élevés avec orgueil, il l'a emporté sur eux. | Ora so che l'Eterno è più grande di tutti gli dei; si, egli lo ha dimostrato loro, quando hanno agito orgogliosamente contro Israele. |
| 12 | And Jethro, Moses' father in law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God: and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses' father in law before God. | Et Jéthro, beau-père de Moïse, prit un holocauste et des sacrifices pour les offrir à Dieu; et Aaron et tous les anciens d'Israël vinrent manger le pain avec le beau-père de Moïse, en la présence de Dieu. | Poi Jethro, suocero di Mosè, prese un olocausto e dei sacrifici per offrirli a DIO; e Aaronne e tutti gli anziani d'Israele vennero a mangiare col suocero di Mosè davanti a DIO. |
| 13 | And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses from the morning unto the evening. | Il arriva, le lendemain, que Moïse s'assit pour juger le peuple, et le peuple se tint devant Moïse depuis le matin jusqu'au soir. | Or avvenne che, il giorno seguente, Mosè si assise per giudicare il popolo; e il popolo stette intorno a Mosè dal mattino fino alla sera. |
| 14 | And when Moses' father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even? | Et le beau-père de Moïse, voyant tout ce qu'il faisait pour le peuple, lui dit: Qu'est-ce que tu fais à l'égard de ce peuple? Pourquoi sièges-tu seul, et tout le peuple se tient-il devant toi, depuis le matin jusqu'au soir? | Quando il suocero di Mosè vide tutto ciò che egli faceva per il popolo, disse: Che è questo che tu fai col popolo? Perché siedi solo, e tutto il popolo ti sta attorno dal mattino fino alla sera?. |
| 15 | And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to enquire of God: | Et Moïse répondit à son beau-père: C'est que le peuple vient à moi pour consulter Dieu. | Mosè rispose a suo suocero: Perché il popolo viene da me per consultare DIO. |
| 16 | When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws. | Quand ils ont quelque cause, ils viennent à moi; je juge entre l'un et l'autre, et je fais connaître les ordonnances de Dieu et ses lois. | Quando essi hanno un problema, vengono da me, e io giudico fra l'uno e l'altro e faccio loro conoscere gli statuti di DIO e le sue leggi. |
| 17 | And Moses' father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good. | Mais le beau-père de Moïse lui dit: Ce que tu fais n'est pas bien. | Ma il suocero di Mosè gli disse: Ciò che tu fai non va bene. |
| 18 | Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone. | Certainement, tu succomberas, et toi et ce peuple qui est avec toi; car cela est trop pesant pour toi, tu ne peux le faire toi seul. | Finirai senz'altro per esaurirti, tu e questo popolo che è con te, perché il compito è troppo arduo. Non puoi farcela da solo. |
| 19 | Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God: | Maintenant écoute ma voix; je te conseillerai, et que Dieu soit avec toi! | 20 | And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do. | Instruis-les des ordonnances et des lois, et fais-leur connaître la voie dans laquelle ils doivent marcher, et ce qu'ils doivent faire. | Insegna loro gli statuti e le leggi e mostra loro la via per la quale devono camminare e ciò che devono fare. |
| 21 | Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens: | Et choisis-toi d'entre tout le peuple des hommes capables, craignant Dieu, des hommes fidèles, haïssant le gain déshonnête, et établis-les sur eux comme chefs de milliers, chefs de centaines, chefs de cinquantaines, et chefs de dizaines; | Ma scegli fra tutto il popolo degli uomini capaci che temano DIO, degli uomini fidati, che detestino il guadagno ingiusto, e stabiliscili sul popolo come capi di migliaia, capi di centinaia, capi di cinquantine e capi di diecine. |
| 22 | And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee. | Et qu'ils jugent le peuple en tout temps; s'il y a de grandes affaires, qu'ils te les rapportent; mais qu'ils jugent eux-mêmes toutes les petites causes. Allège ton fardeau, et qu'ils le portent avec toi. | lascia che siano loro a giudicare il popolo in ogni tempo; essi riporteranno a te ogni problema di grande importanza, ma ogni piccolo problema lo decideranno loro. Così sarà più facile per te, ed essi porteranno il peso con te. |
| 23 | If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace. | Si tu fais cela, et que Dieu te le commande, tu pourras subsister, et tout ce peuple arrivera heureusement en son lieu. | Se tu fai questo, e così DIO ti ordina, potrai durare; e anche tutto questo popolo arriverà felicemente al luogo loro destinato. |
| 24 | So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said. | Et Moïse obéit à la voix de son beau-père, et fit tout ce qu'il avait dit. | Mosè diede ascolto alla voce del suo suocero, e fece tutto ciò che egli aveva detto. |
| 25 | And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. | Moïse choisit donc de tout Israël des hommes capables, et les établit chefs sur le peuple, chefs de milliers, chefs de centaines, chefs de cinquantaines, et chefs de dizaines, | Così Mosè scelse fra tutto Israele degli uomini capaci e li stabilì capi del popolo: capi di migliaia, capi di centinaia, capi di cinquantine e capi di diecine. |
| 26 | And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves. | Qui devaient juger le peuple en tout temps; ils devaient rapporter à Moïse les affaires difficiles, et juger eux-mêmes toutes les petites affaires. | Così essi giudicavano il popolo in ogni tempo; le cause difficili le portavano a Mosè, ma ogni piccolo problema lo decidevano loro. |
| 27 | And Moses let his father in law depart; and he went his way into his own land. | Puis Moïse laissa aller son beau-père, qui s'en retourna en son pays. | Poi Mosè congedò suo suocero, il quale se ne tornò al suo paese. |
