| 1 | Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? | Così dice l'Eterno: Il cielo è il mio trono e la terra è lo sgabello dei miei piedi. Dov'è dunque la casa che mi potreste edificare e dov'è il luogo del mio riposo? |
| 2 | For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. | Tutte queste cose le ha fatte la mia mano e tutte quante sono venute all'esistenza, dice l'Eterno. Su chi dunque volgerò lo sguardo? Su chi è umile, ha lo spirito contrito e trema alla mia parola. |
| 3 | He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations. | Chi immola un bue è come se uccidesse un uomo, chi sacrifica un agnello è come se rompesse il collo a un cane chi presenta un'oblazione di cibo è come se offrisse sangue di porco, chi brucia incenso è come se benedicesse un idolo. | 4 | I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not. | così anch'io sceglierò la loro sventura e farò cadere su di essi ciò che temono; poiché quando ho chiamato, nessuno ha risposto, quando ho parlato, essi non hanno ascoltato; invece hanno fatto ciò che è male ai miei occhi e hanno preferito ciò che mi dispiace. |
| 5 | Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed. | Ascoltate la parola dell'Eterno, voi che tremate alla sua parola. I vostri fratelli, che vi odiano e vi scacciano a motivo del mio nome, hanno detto: "Mostri l'Eterno la sua gloria affinché noi possiamo vedere la vostra gioia" Ma essi saranno confusi. |
| 6 | A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the LORD that rendereth recompence to his enemies. | Una voce, un frastuono esce dalla città, una voce viene dal tempio; è la voce dell'Eterno che dà la retribuzione ai suoi nemici. |
| 7 | Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child. | Prima di provare le doglie di parto ella ha partorito; prima che le venissero i dolori, ha dato alla luce un maschio. |
| 8 | Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. | Chi ha mai udito una cosa simile, chi ha mai visto cose come queste? Nasce forse un paese in un sol giorno o una nazione viene forse alla luce in un istante? Ma Sion, appena ha sentito le doglie, ha partorito i suoi figli. |
| 9 | Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God. | Porterei forse al momento della nascita senza far partorire?. dice l'Eterno. Io che faccio partorire chiuderei forse il seno materno?, dice il tuo DIO. |
| 10 | Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her: | Rallegratevi con Gerusalemme ed esultate con lei, voi tutti che l'amate. Gioite grandemente con lei voi tutti che siete in lutto per lei, |
| 11 | That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory. | affinché siate allattati e saziati al seno delle sue consolazioni, affinché possiate bere copiosamente e deliziarvi con l'abbondanza della sua gloria. |
| 12 | For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees. | Poiché così dice l'Eterno: Ecco, io farò giungere a lei la pace come un fiume e la ricchezza delle nazioni come un torrente che straripa, e voi sarete allattati, sarete portati sui suoi fianchi e accarezzati sulle sue ginocchia. |
| 13 | As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem. | Come una madre consola il proprio figlio, così io consolerò voi e sarete consolati in Gerusalemme. |
| 14 | And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies. | Voi vedrete questo, e il vostro cuore gioirà, le vostre ossa riprenderanno vigore come l'erba fresca. La mano dell'Eterno si farà conoscere ai suoi servi e si adirerà grandemente contro i suoi nemici. |
| 15 | For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. | Poiché ecco, l'Eterno verrà col fuoco, e i suoi carri saranno come un uragano per riversare la sua ira con furore e la sua minaccia con fiamme di fuoco. |
| 16 | For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many. | Poiché l'Eterno farà giustizia con il fuoco e con la sua spada contro ogni carne; e gli uccisi dall'Eterno saranno molti. |
| 17 | They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD. | Quelli che si santificano e si purificano per andare nei giardini, dietro un idolo che sta nel mezzo, quelli che mangiano carne di porco, cose abominevoli e topi, saranno tutti quanti consumati dice l'Eterno. |
| 18 | For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory. | Io conosco le loro opere e i loro pensieri; sta per giungere il tempo in cui raccoglierò tutte le nazioni e tutte le lingue; esse verranno e vedranno la mia gloria. |
| 19 | And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles. | Io porrò un segno nel loro mezzo e manderò alcuni dei loro superstiti alle nazioni: a Tarshish, a Pul e a Lud, che tirano l'arco, a Tubal e a Javan, alle isole lontane che non hanno udito la mia fama e non hanno visto la mia gloria; essi proclameranno la mia gloria fra le nazioni, |
| 20 | And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD. | e ricondurranno tutti i vostri fratelli da tutte le nazioni come un'offerta all'Eterno, su cavalli, su carri, su portantine, su muli e su dromedari al mio santo monte di Gerusalemme, dice l'Eterno. come i figli d'Israele, portano un'offerta in un vaso puro nella casa dell'Eterno. |
| 21 | And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites, saith the LORD. | Prenderò pure alcuni di essi per sacerdoti e per Leviti, dice l'Eterno. |
| 22 | For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. | Poiché come i nuovi cieli e la nuova terra che io farò sussisteranno stabili davanti a me, dice l'Eterno, così sussisteranno la vostra progenie e il vostro nome. |
| 23 | And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD. | E avverrà che di novilunio in novilunio e di sabato in sabato ogni carne verrà a prostrarsi davanti a me, dice l'Eterno. |
| 24 | And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh. | Quando essi usciranno, vedranno i cadaveri degli uomini che si sono ribellati contro di me; poiché il loro verme non morirà e il loro fuoco non si estinguerà, e saranno in orrore ad ogni carne. |
