| 1 | In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. | Nell'anno della morte del re Uzziah, io vidi il Signore assiso sopra un trono alto ed elevato, e i lembi del suo manto riempivano il tempio. |
| 2 | Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. | Sopra di lui stavano dei serafini; ognuno di essi aveva sei ali: con due si copriva la faccia, con due si copriva i piedi e con due volava. |
| 3 | And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. | L'uno gridava all'altro e diceva: Santo, santo, santo è l'Eterno degli eserciti. Tutta la terra è piena della sua gloria. |
| 4 | And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. | Gli stipiti della porta furono scossi dalla voce di colui che gridava, mentre il tempio si riempì di fumo. |
| 5 | Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. | Allora io dissi: Ahimé! Io sono perduto, perché sono un uomo dalle labbra impure e abito in mezzo a un popolo dalle labbra impure; eppure i miei occhi hanno visto il Re, l'Eterno degli eserciti. |
| 6 | Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: | Allora uno dei serafini volò verso di me, tenendo in mano un carbone ardente, che aveva preso con le molle dall'altare. |
| 7 | And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. | Con esso mi toccò la bocca e disse: Ecco, questo ha toccato le tue labbra, la tua iniquità è rimossa e il tuo peccato è espiato. |
| 8 | Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. | Poi udii la voce del Signore che diceva: Chi manderò e chi andrà per noi?. Io risposi: Eccomi, manda me!. |
| 9 | And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. | Allora egli disse: Va' e di' a questo popolo: Ascoltate pure, ma senza comprendere, guardate pure, ma senza discernere! |
| 10 | Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed. | Rendi insensibile il cuore di questo popolo, indurisci i suoi orecchi e chiudi i suoi occhi, affinché non veda con i suoi occhi, né oda con i suoi orecchi né intenda con il suo cuore, e così si converta e sia guarito. |
| 11 | Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate, | Io dissi: Fino a quando, Signore?. Egli rispose: Finché le città siano devastate e senza abitanti, le case siano senza alcun uomo e il paese sia devastato e desolato |
| 12 | And the LORD have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land. | e finché l'Eterno abbia allontanato la gente e vi sia un grande abbandono in mezzo al paese. |
| 13 | But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof. | Rimarrà ancora un decimo della popolazione, ma a sua volta sarà distrutto come però al terebinto e alla quercia, quando sono abbattuti rimane il ceppo, così una progenie santa sarà il suo ceppo. |
