| 2 | Et il en sera, comme du peuple, ainsi du sacrificateur; comme du serviteur, ainsi de son maître; comme de la servante, ainsi de sa maîtresse; comme de l'acheteur, ainsi du vendeur; comme du prêteur, ainsi de l'emprunteur; de celui qui prête à usure, comme de celui à qui est fait un prêt à usure. | And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the creditor, so with the debtor; as with the taker of interest, so with the giver of interest to him. |

| 5 | Et le pays est souillé sous ceux qui l'habitent; car ils ont transgressé les lois, changé le statut, violé l'alliance éternelle. | The earth also is polluted under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, broken the everlasting covenant. |
| 6 | C'est pourquoi la malédiction a dévoré le pays, et ceux qui l'habitent subissent la peine de leur culpabilité; c'est pourquoi les habitants du pays sont consumés et il ne reste que peu d'hommes. | Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are found guilty: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left. |

| 8 | la joie des tambourins a cessé, le bruit tumultueux de ceux qui se réjouissent a pris fin, la joie de la harpe a cessé; | The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth. |
| 9 | ils ne boivent pas le vin en chantant, les boissons fortes sont amères pour ceux qui les boivent. | They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it. |
| 10 | La cité de désolation est ruinée; toute maison est fermée, de sorte que personne n'y entre. | The waste city is broken down; every house is shut up, that no man may come in. |
| 11 | Il y a un cri dans les rues au sujet du vin. Toute joie est assombrie, l'allégresse est bannie du pays; | There is a crying in the streets because of the wine; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone. |
| 12 | la désolation reste dans la ville, et la porte est brisée, - une ruine. | In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction. |
| 13 | Car il en sera ainsi au milieu du pays, parmi les peuples, - comme quand on secoue l'olivier, comme le grappillage quand la vendange est achevée. | For thus shall it be in the midst of the earth among the peoples, as the shaking of an olive-tree, as the gleanings when the vintage is done. |
| 14 | Ceux-ci élèveront leur voix, ils exulteront, ils pousseront des cris de joie depuis la mer, à cause de la majesté de l'Éternel. | These shall lift up their voice, they shall shout; for the majesty of Jehovah they cry aloud from the sea. |
| 15 | C'est pourquoi glorifiez l'Éternel dans les pays de l'aurore, - le nom de l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, dans les îles de l'occident. | Wherefore glorify ye Jehovah in the east, even the name of Jehovah, the God of Israel, in the isles of the sea. |
| 16 | Du bout du pays nous avons entendu des chants: Gloire au juste! Et j'ai dit: Ma maigreur, ma maigreur, malheur à moi! Les perfides ont agi perfidement, les perfides ont agi avec une insigne perfidie. | From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs: Glory to the righteous. But I said, I pine away, I pine away, woe is me! the treacherous have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous have dealt very treacherously. |
| 17 | La frayeur, et la fosse, et le piège, sont sur toi, habitant du pays. | Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth. |
| 18 | Et il arrivera que celui qui s'enfuit de devant le cri de la frayeur tombera dans la fosse, et celui qui monte du milieu de la fosse sera pris dans le piège; car les fenêtres d'en haut sont ouvertes, et les fondements de la terre sont ébranlés. | And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows on high are opened, and the foundations of the earth tremble. |

| 20 | la terre chancelle, elle chancelle comme un homme ivre; elle est ébranlée deçà et delà comme une cabane pour la nuit; sa transgression pèse sur elle: elle tombera et ne se relèvera pas. | The earth shall stagger like a drunken man, and shall sway to and fro like a hammock; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it, and it shall fall, and not rise again. |
| 21 | Et il arrivera, en ce jour-là, que l'Éternel visitera l'armée d'en haut, en haut, et les rois de la terre, sur la terre. | And it shall come to pass in that day, that Jehovah will punish the host of the high ones on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth. |
| 22 | Et il seront assemblés dans la fosse, comme on assemble des prisonniers, et ils seront renfermés dans la prison; et après beaucoup de jours ils seront visités. | And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison; and after many days shall they be visited. |
| 23 | Et la lune rougira, et le soleil aura honte; car l'Éternel des armées règnera en la montagne de Sion et à Jérusalem, et devant ses anciens, en gloire. | Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed; for Jehovah of hosts will reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem; and before his elders shall be glory. |
