| 1 | The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. | La parole qu'Esaïe fils d'Amots a vue touchant Juda et Jérusalem. |
| 2 | And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. | Or il arrivera aux derniers jours que la montagne de la maison de l'Eternel sera affermie au sommet des montagnes, et qu'elle sera élevée par-dessus les coteaux, et toutes les nations y aborderont. |
| 3 | And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. | Et plusieurs peuples iront, et diront: venez, et montons à la montagne de l'Eternel, à la maison du Dieu de Jacob; et il nous instruira de ses voies, et nous marcherons dans ses sentiers; car la Loi sortira de Sion, et la parole de l'Eternel sortira de Jérusalem. |
| 4 | And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. | Il exercera le jugement parmi les nations, et il reprendra plusieurs peuples; ils forgeront de leurs épées des hoyaux, et de leurs hallebardes des serpes; une nation ne lèvera plus l'épée contre l'autre, et ils ne s'adonneront plus à la guerre. |
| 5 | O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD. | Venez, ô Maison de Jacob! et marchons dans la lumière de l'Eternel. |
| 6 | Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers. | Certes tu as rejeté ton peuple, la maison de Jacob, parce qu'ils se sont remplis d'Orient, et de pronostiqueurs, comme les Philistins; et qu'ils se sont plus aux enfants des étrangers. |
| 7 | Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots: | Son pays a été rempli d'argent et d'or, et il n'y a point eu de fin à ses trésors; son pays a été rempli de chevaux, et il n' y a point eu de fin à ses chariots. |
| 8 | Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made: | Son pays a été rempli d'idoles; ils se sont prosternés devant l'ouvrage de leurs mains, devant ce que leurs doigts ont fait. |
| 9 | And the mean man boweth down, and the great man humbleth himself: therefore forgive them not. | Et ceux du commun se sont inclinés, et les personnes de qualité se sont baissées; ne leur pardonne donc point. |
| 10 | Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty. | Entre dans la roche, et te cache dans la poudre, à cause de la frayeur de l'Eternel, et à cause de la gloire de sa majesté. |
| 11 | The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. | Les yeux hautains des hommes seront abaissés, et les hommes qui s'élèvent seront humiliés, et l'Eternel sera seul haut élevé en ce jour-là. |
| 12 | For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: | Car il y a un jour assigné par l'Eternel des armées contre tout orgueilleux et hautain, et contre tout homme qui s'élève, et il sera abaissé; |
| 13 | And upon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan, | Et contre tous les cèdres du Liban hauts et élevés, et contre tous les chênes de Basan; |
| 14 | And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up, | Et contre toutes les hautes montagnes, et contre tous les coteaux élevés; |
| 15 | And upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall, | Et contre toute haute tour, et contre toute muraille forte; |
| 16 | And upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant pictures. | Et contre tous les navires de Tarsis, et contre toutes les peintures de plaisance. |
| 17 | And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. | Et l'élévation des hommes sera humiliée, et les hommes qui s'élèvent seront abaissés; et l'Eternel sera seul haut élevé en ce jour-là. |
| 18 | And the idols he shall utterly abolish. | Et quant aux idoles, elles tomberont toutes. |
| 19 | And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth. | Et les hommes entreront aux cavernes des rochers, et aux trous de la terre, à cause de la frayeur de l'Eternel, et à cause de sa gloire magnifique, lorsqu'il se lèvera pour châtier la terre. |
| 20 | In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats; | En ce jour-là l'homme jettera aux taupes et aux chauves-souris les idoles de son argent, et les idoles de son or, qu'on lui aura faites pour se prosterner devant elles. |
| 21 | To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth. | Et ils entreront dans les fentes des rochers, et dans les quartiers des rochers à cause de la frayeur de l'Eternel, et à cause de sa gloire magnifique, quand il se lèvera pour punir la terre. |
| 22 | Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of ? | Retirez-vous de l'homme duquel le souffle est dans ses narines; car quel cas mérite-t-il qu'on en fasse? |
