| 1 | The burden of Egypt. Behold, Jehovah rideth upon a swift cloud, and cometh unto Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall tremble at his presence; and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it. | Profezia sull'Egitto, Ecco l'Eterno che cavalca su una nuvola leggera ed entra in Egitto. Gli idoli d'Egitto barcollano davanti a lui, e il cuore degli Egiziani viene meno dentro di loro. |
| 2 | And I will stir up the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbor; city against city, [and] kingdom against kingdom. | Aizzerò Egiziani contro Egiziani, ognuno combatterà contro il proprio fratello, e ognuno contro il proprio Vicino città contro città, regno contro regno. |
| 3 | And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst of it; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek unto the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards. | Lo spirito dell'Egitto verrà meno nel suo mezzo, e io distruggerò i suoi disegni, così essi consulteranno gli idoli e gli incantatori, i medium e i maghi. |
| 4 | And I will give over the Egyptians into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts. | Consegnerò l'Egitto nelle mani di un duro padrone, e un re crudele lo dominerà dice il Signore, l'Eterno degli eserciti. |
| 5 | And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and become dry. | Le acque del mare si prosciugheranno, il fiume inaridirà e seccherà. |
| 6 | And the rivers shall become foul; the streams of Egypt shall be diminished and dried up; the reeds and flags shall wither away. | I fiumi diventeranno nauseabondi, i canali d'Egitto si svuoteranno e si seccheranno e le canne e i giunchi inaridiranno. |
| 7 | The meadows by the Nile, by the brink of the Nile, and all the sown fields of the Nile, shall become dry, be driven away, and be no more. | I prati accanto al Nilo alla foce del Nilo e tutti i campi seminati lungo il fiume seccheranno, saranno spazzati via e spariranno. |
| 8 | And the fishers shall lament, and all they that cast angle into the Nile shall mourn, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall languish. | I pescatori gemeranno, tutti quelli che gettano l'amo nel Nilo si lamenteranno e quelli che stendono le reti sulle acque languiranno. |
| 9 | Moreover they that work in combed flax, and they that weave white cloth, shall be confounded. | Quelli che lavorano il lino pettinato e i tessitori di cotone saranno confusi. |
| 10 | And the pillars [of Egypt] shall be broken in pieces; all they that work for hire [shall be] grieved in soul. | Le loro fondamenta saranno infrante e tutti i lavoratori salariati saranno contristati. |
| 11 | The princes of Zoan are utterly foolish; the counsel of the wisest counsellors of Pharaoh is become brutish: how say ye unto Pharaoh, I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings? | Certamente i principi di Tsoan, sono stolti; i più saggi consiglieri del Faraone danno consigli insensati. Come potete dire al Faraone: Io sono figlio di saggi, figlio di antichi re? |
| 12 | Where then are thy wise men? and let them tell thee now; and let them know what Jehovah of hosts hath purposed concerning Egypt. | Dove sono ora i tuoi saggi? Te lo dichiarino ora e riconoscano ciò che l'Eterno degli eserciti ha deciso contro l'Egitto. |
| 13 | The princes of Zoan are become fools, the princes of Memphis are deceived; they have caused Egypt to go astray, that are the corner-stone of her tribes. | I principi di Tsoan sono diventati stolti, i principi di Nof, si ingannano; quelli che sono la pietra angolare delle sue tribù hanno fatto traviare l'Egitto. |
| 14 | Jehovah hath mingled a spirit of perverseness in the midst of her; and they have caused Egypt to go astray in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit. | L'Eterno ha mescolato nel suo mezzo uno spirito di perversione, ed essi hanno fatto fuorviare l'Egitto in ogni sua impresa, come barcolla l'ubriaco nel suo vomito. |
| 15 | Neither shall there be for Egypt any work, which head or tail, palm-branch or rush, may do. | E nulla potrà fare l'Egitto: il capo o la coda, la palma o il giunco. |
| 16 | In that day shall the Egyptians be like unto women; and they shall tremble and fear because of the shaking of the hand of Jehovah of hosts, which he shaketh over them. | In quel giorno l'Egitto sarà come le donne, e tremerà e sarà spaventato di fronte alla mano che l'Eterno degli eserciti agiterà contro di lui. |
| 17 | And the land of Judah shall become a terror unto Egypt; every one to whom mention is made thereof shall be afraid, because of the purpose of Jehovah of hosts, which he purposeth against it. | Il paese di Giuda sarà il terrore dell'Egitto; ogni volta che se ne farà menzione, sarà un vero spavento a motivo della decisione presa contro di lui dall'Eterno degli eserciti. |
| 18 | In that day there shall be five cities in the land of Egypt that speak the language of Canaan, and swear to Jehovah of hosts; one shall be called The city of destruction. | In quel giorno vi saranno nel paese d'Egitto cinque città che parleranno la lingua di Canaan e giureranno per l'Eterno degli eserciti, una di esse si chiamerà la città della distruzione |
| 19 | In that day shall there be an altar to Jehovah in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to Jehovah. | In quel giorno in mezzo al paese d'Egitto vi sarà un altare, consacrato all'Eterno, e una stele eretta all'Eterno presso la sua frontiera. |
| 20 | And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto Jehovah of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they shall cry unto Jehovah because of oppressors, and he will send them a saviour, and a defender, and he will deliver them. | Sarà un segno e una testimonianza per l'Eterno degli eserciti nel paese d'Egitto; quando essi grideranno all'Eterno a motivo dei loro oppressori, egli manderà loro un salvatore e uno potente che li libererà. |
| 21 | And Jehovah shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know Jehovah in that day; yea, they shall worship with sacrifice and oblation, and shall vow a vow unto Jehovah, and shall perform it. | L'Eterno si farà conoscere all'Egitto e gli Egiziani conosceranno l'Eterno in quel giorno; gli offriranno sacrifici e oblazioni di cibo, faranno voti all'Eterno e li adempiranno. |
| 22 | And Jehovah will smite Egypt, smiting and healing; and they shall return unto Jehovah, and he will be entreated of them, and will heal them. | L'Eterno colpirà gli Egiziani, li colpirà e li guarirà; essi ritorneranno all'Eterno, che darà ascolto alle loro preghiere e li guarirà. |
| 23 | In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria; and the Egyptians shall worship with the Assyrians. | In quel giorno vi sarà una strada dall'Egitto all'Assiria; gli Assiri andranno in Egitto e gli Egiziani in Assiria, e gli Egiziani serviranno con gli Assiri. |
| 24 | In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth; | In quel giorno Israele, il terzo con l'Egitto e con l'Assiria, sarà una benedizione in mezzo alla terra. |
| 25 | for that Jehovah of hosts hath blessed them, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance. | L'Eterno degli eserciti li benedirà dicendo: Benedetto sia l'Egitto mio popolo, l'Assiria opera delle mie mani e Israele mia eredità!. |
