Car c'est à cause de la méchanceté de ces nations que l'Éternel les chasse devant toi. | Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee. | Quando l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, li avrà scacciati davanti a te, non dire nel tuo cuore: "E' per la mia giustizia che l'Eterno mi ha fatto entrare in possesso di questo paese". E' invece per la malvagità di queste nazioni che l'Eterno le scaccia davanti a te. |
| 5 | Non, ce n'est point à cause de ta justice et de la droiture de ton coeur que tu entres en possession de leur pays ; mais c'est à cause de la méchanceté de ces nations que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, les chasse devant toi, et c'est pour confirmer la parole que l'Éternel a jurée à tes pères, à Abraham, à Isaac et à Jacob. | Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. | No, non è per la tua giustizia né per la rettitudine del tuo cuore che tu entri ad occupare il loro paese, ma è per la malvagità di queste nazioni che l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, le sta per scacciare davanti a te, e per adempiere la parola giurata ai tuoi padri, ad Abrahamo, a Isacco e a Giacobbe. |
| 6 | Sache donc que ce n'est point à cause de ta justice que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne ce bon pays pour que tu le possèdes ; car tu es un peuple au cou roide. | Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people. | Sappi dunque che non è per la tua giustizia che l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti dà in possesso questo buon paese, poiché tu sei un popolo dal collo duro. |
| 7 | Souviens-toi, n'oublie pas de quelle manière tu as excité la colère de l'Éternel, ton Dieu, dans le désert. Depuis le jour où tu es sorti du pays d'Égypte jusqu'à votre arrivée dans ce lieu, vous avez été rebelles contre l'Éternel. | Remember, and forget not, how thou provokedst the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD. | Ricordati e non dimenticare come hai provocato ad ira l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, nel deserto. Dal giorno che uscisti dal paese d'Egitto, fino al vostro arrivo in questo luogo, siete stati ribelli all'Eterno. |
| 8 | A Horeb, vous excitâtes la colère de l'Éternel ; et l'Éternel s'irrita contre vous, et eut la pensée de vous détruire. | Also in Horeb ye provoked the LORD to wrath, so that the LORD was angry with you to have destroyed you. | Anche ad Horeb provocaste ad ira l'Eterno; e l'Eterno si adirò contro di voi al punto di volervi distruggere. |
| 9 | Lorsque je fus monté sur la montagne, pour prendre les tables de pierre, les tables de l'alliance que l'Éternel a traitée avec vous, je demeurai sur la montagne quarante jours et quarante nuits, sans manger de pain et sans boire d'eau ; | When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither did eat bread nor drink water: | Quando salii sul monte per ricevere le tavole di pietra, le tavole del patto che l'Eterno aveva fatto con voi, io rimasi sul monte quaranta giorni e quaranta notti, senza mangiare pane né bere acqua. |
| 10 | et l'Éternel me donna les deux tables de pierre écrites du doigt de Dieu, et contenant toutes les paroles que l'Éternel vous avait dites sur la montagne, du milieu du feu, le jour de l'assemblée. | And the LORD delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which the LORD spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly. | e l'Eterno mi diede le due tavole di pietra, scritte con il dito di DIO, sulle quali erano tutte le parole che l'Eterno vi aveva detto sul monte, di mezzo al fuoco, nel giorno dell'assemblea. |

| 14 | Laisse-moi les détruire et effacer leur nom de dessous les cieux ; et je ferai de toi une nation plus puissante et plus nombreuse que ce peuple. | Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they. | lascia che li distrugga e cancelli il loro nome di sotto i cieli, e farò di te una nazione più potente e più grande di loro". |

Avevate ben presto lasciata la via che l'Eterno vi aveva ordinato di seguire. |
| 17 | Je saisis les deux tables, je les jetai de mes mains, et je les brisai sous vos yeux. | And I took the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and brake them before your eyes. | Allora afferrai le due tavole, le scagliai dalle mie mani e le spezzai sotto i vostri occhi. |
| 18 | Je me prosternai devant l'Éternel, comme auparavant, quarante jours et quarante nuits, sans manger de pain et sans boire d'eau, à cause de tous les péchés que vous aviez commis en faisant ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel, pour l'irriter. | And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. | Poi mi gettai davanti all'Eterno, come la prima volta, per quaranta giorni e per quaranta notti; non mangiai pane né bevvi acqua, a motivo di tutti i vostri peccati che avevate commesso, facendo ciò che è male agli occhi dell'Eterno, per provocarlo ad ira. |
| 19 | Car j'étais effrayé à la vue de la colère et de la fureur dont l'Éternel était animé contre vous jusqu'à vouloir vous détruire. Mais l'Éternel m'exauça encore cette fois. | For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith the LORD was wroth against you to destroy you. But the LORD hearkened unto me at that time also. | Poiché io avevo paura dell'ira e del furore con cui l'Eterno era acceso contro di voi, al punto di volervi distruggere. | 21 | Je pris le veau que vous aviez fait, ce produit de votre péché, je le brûlai au feu, je le broyai jusqu'à ce qu'il fût réduit en poudre, et je jetai cette poudre dans le torrent qui descend de la montagne. | And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, and ground it very small, even until it was as small as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount. | Poi presi l'oggetto del vostro peccato, il vitello che avevate fatto, lo bruciai col fuoco, e lo frantumai e macinai in minuscoli frammenti, fino a ridurlo in polvere minuta, e ne gettai la polvere nel torrente che scende dal monte. |
| 22 | A Tabeéra, à Massa, et à Kibroth Hattaava, vous excitâtes la colère de l'Éternel. | And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibrothhattaavah, ye provoked the LORD to wrath. | Anche a Taberah, a Massa e a Kibroth-Attaavah voi provocaste ad ira l'Eterno. |
| 23 | Et lorsque l'Éternel vous envoya à Kadès Barnéa, en disant : Montez, et prenez possession du pays que je vous donne ! vous fûtes rebelles à l'ordre de l'Éternel, votre Dieu, vous n'eûtes point foi en lui, et vous n'obéîtes point à sa voix. | Likewise when the LORD sent you from Kadeshbarnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice. | Quando poi l'Eterno vi mandò fuori da Kadesh-Barnea dicendo: "Salite e impossessatevi del paese che vi ho dato", vi ribellaste all'ordine dell'Eterno, il vostro DIO, non gli credeste e non ubbidiste alla sua voce. |

| 26 | Je priai l'Éternel, et je dis : Seigneur Éternel, ne détruis pas ton peuple, ton héritage, que tu as racheté dans ta grandeur, que tu as fait sortir d'Égypte par ta main puissante. | I prayed therefore unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand. | E pregai l'Eterno e dissi: "O Signore, o Eterno, non distruggere il tuo popolo e la tua eredità, che hai redento con la tua grandezza, che hai fatto uscire dall'Egitto con mano potente. |

Ne regarde point à l'opiniâtreté de ce peuple, à sa méchanceté et à son péché, | Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin: | Ricordati dei tuoi servi, Abrahamo, Isacco e Giacobbe; non guardare alla caparbietà di questo popolo, o alla sua malvagità o al suo peccato, |
| 28 | de peur que le pays d'où tu nous as fait sortir ne dise : C'est parce que l'Éternel n'avait pas le pouvoir de les mener dans le pays qu'il leur avait promis, et c'est parce qu'il les haïssait, qu'il les a fait sortir pour les faire mourir dans le désert. | Lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because the LORD was not able to bring them into the land which he promised them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness. | affinché il paese da cui ci hai fatto uscire non dica: Poiché l'Eterno non era capace di farli entrare nella terra che aveva loro promesso e poiché li odiava, li ha fatti uscire per farli morire nel deserto. |
