| 2 | And he said unto them, I am a hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no more go out and come in: and Jehovah hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan. | e disse loro: Io oggi ho centovent'anni; non posso più andare e venire; inoltre l'Eterno mi ha detto: "Tu non passerai questo Giordano". |
| 3 | Jehovah thy God, he will go over before thee; he will destroy these nations from before thee, and thou shalt dispossess them: [and] Joshua, he shall go over before thee, as Jehovah hath spoken. | L'Eterno il tuo DIO, sarà lui stesso che passerà davanti a te e distruggerà davanti a te quelle nazioni, e tu le spodesterai; Giosuè stesso passerà davanti a te, come l'Eterno ha detto. |
| 4 | And Jehovah will do unto them as he did to Sihon and to Og, the kings of the Amorites, and unto their land; whom he destroyed. | E l'Eterno farà ad esse come ha fatto a Sihon e a Og, re degli Amorei, e al loro paese, quando li distrusse. |
| 5 | And Jehovah will deliver them up before you, and ye shall do unto them according unto all the commandment which I have commanded you. | L'Eterno le darà in vostro potere e voi le tratterete secondo tutti gli ordini che vi ho prescritto. |
| 6 | Be strong and of good courage, fear not, nor be affrighted at them: for Jehovah thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. | Siate forti e coraggiosi, non abbiate paura, non spaventatevi di loro, perché l'Eterno il tuo DIO, è lui stesso che cammina con te egli non ti lascerà e non ti abbandonerà. |
| 7 | And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of good courage: for thou shalt go with this people into the land which Jehovah hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it. | Poi Mosè chiamò Giosuè e gli disse in presenza di tutto Israele: Sii forte e coraggioso poiché tu entrerai con questo popolo nel paese che l'Eterno giurò ai loro padri di dar loro, e tu lo darai loro in eredità. |
| 8 | And Jehovah, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed. | Inoltre l'Eterno stesso cammina davanti a te; egli sarà con te; non ti lascerà e non ti abbandonerà; non aver paura e non sgomentarti. |
| 9 | And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi, that bare the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and unto all the elders of Israel. | Così Mosè scrisse questa legge e la consegnò ai sacerdoti, figli di Levi, che portano l'arca del patto dell'Eterno, e a tutti gli anziani d'Israele. |
| 10 | And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of [every] seven years, in the set time of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles, | Poi Mosè comandò loro, dicendo: Alla fine di ogni sette anni, al tempo stabilito nell'anno della remissione, alla festa delle Capanne, |
| 11 | when all Israel is come to appear before Jehovah thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing. | quando tutto Israele verrà a presentarsi davanti all'Eterno, il tuo DIO, nel luogo che ha scelto, leggerai questa legge davanti a tutto Israele, nei loro orecchi. |
| 12 | Assemble the people, the men and the women and the little ones, and thy sojourner that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear Jehovah your God, and observe to do all the words of this law; | Radunerai il popolo, uomini, donne, bambini e lo straniero che è entro le tue porte, perché possano ascoltare e imparare a temere l'Eterno, il vostro DIO, e abbiano cura di mettere in pratica tutte le parole di questa legge, |
| 13 | and that their children, who have not known, may hear, and learn to fear Jehovah your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over the Jordan to possess it. | e perché i loro figli, che ancora non la conoscono, ascoltino e imparino a temere l'Eterno, il vostro DIO, tutto il tempo che vivrete nel paese che voi entrate ad occupare, passando il Giordano. |
| 14 | And Jehovah said unto Moses, Behold, thy days approach that thou must die: call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tent of meeting, that I may give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tent of meeting. | Poi l'Eterno disse a Mosè: Ecco, il giorno della tua morte si avvicina; chiama Giosuè e presentatevi nella tenda di convegno perché gli possa dare i miei ordini. Mosè e Giosuè dunque andarono a presentarsi alla tenda di convegno. |
| 15 | And Jehovah appeared in the Tent in a pillar of cloud: and the pillar of cloud stood over the door of the Tent. | Or l'Eterno apparve alla tenda in una colonna di nuvola; e la colonna di nuvola si fermò all'ingresso della tenda. |
| 16 | And Jehovah said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and play the harlot after the strange gods of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them. | E l'Eterno disse a Mosè: Ecco, tu stai per addormentarti con i tuoi padri; e questo popolo si leverà e si prostituirà, andando dietro agli dèi stranieri del paese, in mezzo ai quali sta per andare; e mi abbandonerà e violerà il mio patto che io ho stabilito con lui. |
| 17 | Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall come upon them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us because our God is not among us? | In quel giorno, la mia ira si accenderà contro di loro; io li abbandonerò e nasconderò loro la mia faccia, e saranno divorati. Molti mali e molte calamità cadranno loro addosso; e in quel giorno diranno: "Questi mali non ci sono, forse caduti addosso perché il nostro DIO non è in mezzo a noi?". |
| 18 | And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evil which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods. | In quel giorno io nasconderò certamente la mia faccia a motivo di tutto il male che hanno fatto, rivolgendosi ad altri dèi. |
| 19 | Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach thou it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel. | Ora scrivete per voi questo cantico e insegnatelo ai figli d'Israele; mettetelo sulla loro bocca, affinché questo cantico mi sia un testimone contro i figli d'Israele. |
| 20 | For when I shall have brought them into the land which I sware unto their fathers, flowing with milk and honey, and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and waxed fat; then will they turn unto other gods, and serve them, and despise me, and break my covenant. | Quando li avrò introdotti nel paese, che promisi ai padri loro con giuramento dove scorre latte e miele, ed essi avranno mangiato, si saranno saziati e ingrassati, allora essi si rivolgeranno ad altri dèi per servirli, e disprezzeranno me e violeranno il mio patto. |
| 21 | And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are come upon them, that this song shall testify before them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they frame this day, before I have brought them into the land which I sware. | Allora avverrà che quando molti mali e molte calamità saranno cadute loro addosso, questo cantico testimonierà contro di loro, perché esso non sarà dimenticato e rimarrà sulle labbra dei loro discendenti; io conosco infatti i disegni che essi concepiscono, prima ancora di averli introdotti nel paese che ho promesso con giuramento. |
| 22 | So Moses wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Israel. | Così Mosè scrisse quel giorno questo cantico e lo insegnò ai figli d'Israele. |
| 23 | And he gave Joshua the son of Nun a charge, and said, Be strong and of good courage; for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I sware unto them: and I will be with thee. | Poi egli diede i suoi ordini a Giosuè, figlio di Nun, e gli disse: Sii forte e coraggioso, perché sarai tu a introdurre i figli d'Israele nel paese che promisi loro con giuramento; e io sarò con te. |
| 24 | And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished, | Quando Mosè ebbe finito di scrivere in un libro tutte le parole di questa legge, |
| 25 | that Moses commanded the Levites, that bare the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, saying, | diede quest'ordine ai Leviti che portavano l'arca del patto dell'Eterno, dicendo: |
| 26 | Take this book of the law, and put it by the side of the ark of the covenant of Jehovah your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee. | Prendete questo libro della legge e mettetelo accanto all'arca del patto dell'Eterno, il vostro DIO, perché rimanga là come un testimone contro di te; |
| 27 | For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against Jehovah; and how much more after my death? | poiché io conosco il tuo spirito ribelle e la durezza del tuo collo. Ecco, oggi mentre sono ancora vivente tra voi, siete stati ribelli contro l'Eterno; quanto più lo sarete dopo la mia morte! |
| 28 | Assemble unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to witness against them. | Radunate presso di me tutti gli anziani delle vostre tribù e i vostri ufficiali, perché faccia loro udire queste parole e chiami a testimoniare contro di loro il cielo e la terra. |
| 29 | For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do that which is evil in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands. | Poiché io so che, dopo la mia morte, vi corromperete interamente e devierete dalla via che vi ho comandato, e negli ultimi giorni vi colpirà la sventura, perché farete ciò che è male agli occhi dell'Eterno, provocandolo a sdegno con l'opera delle vostre mani. |
| 30 | And Moses spake in the ears of all the assembly of Israel the words of this song, until they were finished. | Mosè dunque pronunziò nelle orecchie di tutta l'assemblea d'Israele le parole di questo cantico fino al termine. |
