| 1 | If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, and [the judges] judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked; | Se sorge una lite fra uomini e si, presentano in tribunale, i giudici li giudicheranno, assolvendo l'innocente e condannando il colpevole. |
| 2 | and it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his wickedness, by number. | Quindi se il colpevole merita d'esser battuto, il giudice lo farà stendere per terra e lo farà battere in sua presenza, con un numero di colpi, secondo la gravità della sua colpa. |

| 5 | If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no son, the wife of the dead shall not be married without unto a stranger: her husband`s brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of a husband`s brother unto her. | Se dei fratelli abitano assieme e uno di essi muore senza lasciar figli, la moglie del defunto non si mariterà ad un estraneo fuori della famiglia; suo cognato entrerà da lei e la prenderà in moglie, compiendo verso di lei il dovere di cognato; |
| 6 | And it shall be, that the first-born that she beareth shall succeed in the name of his brother that is dead, that his name be not blotted out of Israel. | e il primogenito che ella partorirà prenderà il nome del fratello defunto, perché il suo nome non sia cancellato in Israele. |
| 7 | And if the man like not to take his brother`s wife, then his brother`s wife shall go up to the gate unto the elders, and say, My husband`s brother refuseth to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel; he will not perform the duty of a husband`s brother unto me. | Ma se quell'uomo non vuole prendere sua cognata, la cognata salirà alla porta dagli anziani e dirà: "Mio cognato rifiuta di risollevare il nome di suo fratello in Israele; egli non vuole compiere verso di me il dovere di cognato". |
| 8 | Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak unto him: and if he stand, and say, I like not to take her; | Allora gli anziani della sua città lo chiameranno e gli parleranno; e se egli persiste e dice: "Non voglio prenderla", |
| 9 | then shall his brother`s wife come unto him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face; and she shall answer and say, So shall it be done unto the man that doth not build up his brother`s house. | allora sua cognata gli si avvicinerà in presenza degli anziani, gli leverà il sandalo dal piede, gli sputerà in faccia e dirà: "Così sarà fatto all'uomo che non vuole edificare la casa di suo fratello". |
| 10 | And his name shall be called in Israel, The house of him that hath his shoe loosed. | E il suo nome in Israele sarà chiamato: "La casa di colui al quale è stato rimosso il sandalo". |
| 11 | When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets; | Se due uomini hanno tra loro una lite, e la moglie di uno si avvicina per liberare suo marito dalle mani di chi lo percuote, stende la mano e lo afferra nei genitali, le taglierai la mano; |
| 12 | then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall have no pity. | il tuo occhio non avrà pietà di lei. |
| 13 | Thou shalt not have in thy bag diverse weights, a great and a small. | Non avrai nel tuo sacco due pesi, uno grande e uno piccolo. |
| 14 | Thou shalt not have in thy house diverse measures, a great and a small. | Non avrai in casa due misure, una grande e una piccola. |
| 15 | A perfect and just weight shalt thou have; a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be long in the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee. | Avrai un peso esatto e giusto, avrai una misura esatta e giusta, affinché i tuoi giorni siano prolungati nel paese che l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti dà. |
| 16 | For all that do such things, [even] all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto Jehovah thy God. | Poiché tutti quelli che fanno tali cose, tutti quelli che si comportano ingiustamente, sono in abominio all'Eterno, il tuo DIO. |
| 17 | Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way as ye came forth out of Egypt; | Ricordati di ciò che ti fece Amalek lungo il cammino, quando usciste dall'Egitto: |
| 18 | how he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, all that were feeble behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not God. | come ti venne incontro per via, attaccando alle spalle tutti i deboli che venivano per ultimi, quando tu eri stanco e sfinito, e non ebbe alcun timore di DIO. |
| 19 | Therefore it shall be, when Jehovah thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget. | Quando dunque l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti darà requie dai tuoi nemici tutt'intorno nel paese che l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti dà in eredità da occupare, cancellerai il ricordo di Amalek di sotto al cielo; non te ne scordare!. |
