| 2 | And if thy brother be not nigh unto thee, or if thou know him not, then thou shalt bring it home to thy house, and it shall be with thee until thy brother seek after it, and thou shalt restore it to him. | E se tuo fratello non abita vicino a te e non lo conosci, porterai l'animale a casa tua e rimarrà da te affinché tuo fratello ne andrà in cerca; e allora glielo renderai. |
| 3 | And so shalt thou do with his ass; and so shalt thou do with his garment; and so shalt thou do with every lost thing of thy brother`s, which he hath lost, and thou hast found: thou mayest not hide thyself. | Lo stesso farai con il suo asino, con la sua veste e con qualunque altro oggetto che tuo fratello ha smarrito e che tu hai trovato; tu non fingerai di non averli visti. |
| 4 | Thou shalt not see thy brother`s ass or his ox fallen down by the way, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt surely help him to lift them up again. | Se vedi l'asino di tuo fratello o il suo bue caduto lungo la strada, tu non fingerai di non averli visti, ma aiuterai tuo fratello a rialzarli. |
| 5 | A woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman`s garment; for whosoever doeth these things is an abomination unto Jehovah thy God. | La donna non indosserà abiti da uomo, né l'uomo indosserà abiti da donna, perché chiunque fa tali cose è in abominio all'Eterno, il tuo DIO. |
| 6 | If a bird`s nest chance to be before thee in the way, in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the dam with the young: | Se, cammin facendo, ti capita di trovare su un albero o per terra un nido di uccello con gli uccellini o con le uova e la madre che cova gli uccellini o le uova, non prenderai la madre con i piccoli; |
| 7 | thou shalt surely let the dam go, but the young thou mayest take unto thyself; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days. | ma lascerai andare la madre e prenderai per te i piccoli, affinché tu possa prosperare e prolungare i tuoi giorni. |
| 8 | When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thy house, if any man fall from thence. | Quando costruirai una casa nuova, farai un parapetto intorno al tuo tetto, per non attirare una colpa di sangue sulla tua casa, se qualcuno dovesse cadere dal tetto. |
| 9 | Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with two kinds of seed, lest the whole fruit be forfeited, the seed which thou hast sown, and the increase of the vineyard. | Non seminerai nella tua vigna semi di specie diverse, perché il prodotto di ciò che hai seminato e la rendita della vigna non siano contaminate. |
| 10 | Thou shalt not plow with an ox and an ass together. | Non lavorerai con un bue e un asino insieme. |
| 11 | Thou shalt not wear a mingled stuff, wool and linen together. | Non porterai vestito di tessuto misto, fatto di lana e di lino. |
| 12 | Thou shalt make thee fringes upon the four borders of thy vesture, wherewith thou coverest thyself. | Metterai delle frange ai quattro angoli del mantello con cui ti copri. |
| 13 | If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her, | Se un uomo sposa una donna, entra da lei e poi la prende in odio, |
| 14 | and lay shameful things to her charge, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came nigh to her, I found not in her the tokens of virginity; | e l'accusa di cose vergognose e le fa una cattiva reputazione, dicendo: "Ho preso questa donna, ma quando mi sono accostato a lei non ho trovato in lei i segni della verginità", |
| 15 | then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel`s virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate; | il padre e la madre della giovane prenderanno i segni della verginità della giovane e li mostreranno agli anziani della città, alla porta; |
| 16 | and the damsel`s father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hateth her; | e il padre della giovane dirà agli anziani: "lo ho dato mia figlia in moglie a quest'uomo, ma egli l'ha presa in odio, |
| 17 | and, lo, he hath laid shameful things [to her charge], saying, I found not in thy daughter the tokens of virginity; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter`s virginity. And they shall spread the garment before the elders of the city. | ed ora l'accusa di cose vergognose, dicendo: Non ho trovato in tua figlia segni della verginità; ma questi sono i segni della verginità di mia figlia". E spiegheranno il panno davanti agli anziani della città. |
| 18 | And the elders of that city shall take the man and chastise him; | Allora gli anziani di quella città prenderanno il marito e lo puniranno con battiture; |
| 19 | and they shall fine him a hundred [shekels] of silver, and give them unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days. | e poiché ha sparso una cattiva reputazione su una vergine d'Israele, gli imporranno un'ammenda di cento sicli d'argento, che daranno al padre della giovane; così essa rimarrà sua moglie ed egli non potrà mandarla via finché vive. |
| 20 | But if this thing be true, that the tokens of virginity were not found in the damsel; | Ma se la cosa è vera e nella giovane non sono stati trovati i segni della verginità, |
| 21 | then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father`s house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the harlot in her father`s house: so shalt thou put away the evil from the midst of thee. | allora faranno uscire la giovane all'ingresso della casa di suo padre e la gente della sua città la lapiderà con pietre ed essa morirà, perché ha commesso un'atto infame in Israele, facendo la prostituta in casa di suo padre. Così estirperai il male di mezzo a te. |
| 22 | If a man be found lying with a woman married to a husband, then they shall both of them die, the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away the evil from Israel. | Se un uomo viene trovato coricato con una donna maritata, moriranno entrambi: l'uomo che si è coricato con la donna e la donna. Così estirperai il male di mezzo a Israele. |
| 23 | If there be a damsel that is a virgin betrothed unto a husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her; | Quando una fanciulla vergine è fidanzata, e un uomo la trova in città e si corica con lei, |
| 24 | then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them to death with stones; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbor`s wife: so thou shalt put away the evil from the midst of thee. | li condurrete ambedue alla porta di quella città e li lapiderete con pietre, ed essi moriranno: la fanciulla perché, pur essendo in città, non ha gridato, e l'uomo perché ha disonorato la donna del suo prossimo. Così estirperai il male di mezzo a te. |
| 25 | But if the man find the damsel that is betrothed in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her; then the man only that lay with her shall die: | Ma se l'uomo trova una fanciulla fidanzata, in campagna, le fa violenza e si corica con lei, allora morirà solamente l'uomo che si è coricato con lei; |
| 26 | but unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbor, and slayeth him, even so is this matter; | ma non farai niente alla fanciulla; nella fanciulla non c'è alcun peccato che merita la morte, perché questo caso è come quando un uomo si leva contro il suo prossimo e l'uccide; |
| 27 | for he found her in the field, the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her. | egli infatti l'ha trovata in campagna; la fanciulla fidanzata ha gridato, ma non c'era nessuno che la potesse salvare. |
| 28 | If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, that is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; | Se un uomo trova una fanciulla vergine che non sia fidanzata, la prende e si corica con lei, e sono sorpresi in flagrante, |
| 29 | then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel`s father fifty [shekels] of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he hath humbled her; he may not put her away all his days. | l'uomo che si è coricato con lei darà al padre della fanciulla cinquanta sicli d'argento, ed ella sarà sua moglie, perché l'ha disonorata e non potrà mandarla via finché egli vive. |
| 30 | A man shall not take his father`s wife, and shall not uncover his father`s skirt. | Nessuno prenderà la moglie di suo padre né solleverà il lembo della coperta di suo padre. |
