| 3 | tu t'en prépareras le chemin, et tu diviseras en trois parties le territoire de ton pays que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne en héritage; et ce sera afin que tout homicide s'y enfuie. | Thou shalt prepare thee the way, and divide the borders of thy land, which Jehovah thy God causeth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every manslayer may flee thither. | Preparerai delle strade e dividerai in tre parti il territorio del paese che l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti dà in eredità, affinché ogni omicida vi si possa rifugiare. |
| 4 | Et voici ce qui concerne l'homicide qui s'y enfuira, pour qu'il vive: Celui qui aura frappé son prochain sans le savoir, et sans l'avoir haï auparavant, | And this is the case of the manslayer, that shall flee thither and live: whoso killeth his neighbor unawares, and hated him not in time past; | E questa è la regola per l'omicida che si rifugia là, per aver salva la vita: chiunque ha ucciso il suo prossimo involontariamente, senza averlo odiato prima. |
| 5 | comme si quelqu'un va avec son prochain dans la forêt pour couper du bois, et que sa main lève la hache pour couper l'arbre, et que le fer échappe du manche et atteigne son prochain, et qu'il meure: il s'enfuira dans une de ces villes, et il vivra: | as when a man goeth into the forest with his neighbor to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbor, so that he dieth; he shall flee unto one of these cities and live: | Così, quando uno va con il suo compagno nel bosco a tagliar legna e, mentre vibra un colpo con la scure per abbattere un albero, il ferro gli sfugge dal manico e colpisce il compagno che poi muore, quel tale si rifugerà in una di queste città ed avrà salva la vita; |
| 6 | de peur que le vengeur du sang ne poursuive l'homicide pendant que son coeur est échauffé, et qu'il ne l'atteigne, parce que le chemin est long, et ne le frappe à mort, quoiqu'il ne mérite pas la mort, car il ne le haïssait pas auparavant. | lest the avenger of blood pursue the manslayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and smite him mortally; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past. | perché il vendicatore del sangue, mentre l'ira gli arde in cuore, non insegua l'omicida e lo raggiunga, quando il cammino è troppo lungo, e lo uccida anche se non meritava la morte, perché nel passato non aveva odiato il compagno. |

| 8 | Et si l'Éternel, ton Dieu, étend tes limites, comme il l'a juré à tes pères, et qu'il te donne tout le pays qu'il a promis de donner à tes pères, | And if Jehovah thy God enlarge thy border, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers; | Se poi l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, allarga i tuoi confini, come giurò ai tuoi padri e ti dà tutto il paese che promise di dare ai tuoi padri, |
| 9 | parce que tu auras gardé tout ce commandement que je te commande aujourd'hui, pour le pratiquer, en aimant l'Éternel, ton Dieu, et en marchant toujours dans ses voies, alors tu t'ajouteras encore trois villes à ces trois-là, | if thou shalt keep all this commandment to do it, which I command thee this day, to love Jehovah thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, besides these three: | se tu osservi tutti questi comandamenti che oggi ti prescrivo, amando l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, e camminando sempre nelle sue vie, allora aggiungerai altre tre città a quelle tre, |
| 10 | afin que le sang innocent ne soit pas versé au milieu de ton pays que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne en héritage, et qu'ainsi le sang ne soit pas sur toi. | that innocent blood be not shed in the midst of thy land, which Jehovah thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee. | affinché non si sparga sangue innocente in mezzo al paese che l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti dà in eredità e tu non ti renda colpevole di omicidio. |
| 11 | Mais si un homme hait son prochain, et lui dresse une embûche, et se lève contre lui et le frappe à mort, en sorte qu'il meure, et qu'il s'enfuie dans l'une de ces villes, | But if any man hate his neighbor, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally so that he dieth, and he flee into one of these cities; | Ma se un uomo odia il suo prossimo, gli tende un agguato, lo aggredisce e lo ferisce a morte, e poi si rifugia in una di quelle città, |
| 12 | alors les anciens de sa ville enverront et le prendront de là, et le livreront en la main du vengeur du sang; et il mourra. | then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die. | gli anziani della sua città lo manderanno a prendere di là e lo consegneranno in mano al vendicatore del sangue affinché sia messo a morte. |
| 13 | Ton oeil ne l'épargnera point, et tu ôteras d'Israël le sang innocent, et tu prospéreras. | Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away the innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee. | Il tuo occhio non avrà pietà di lui, ma rimuoverai da Israele la colpa di aver sparso sangue innocente, e così prospererai. |
| 14 | Tu ne reculeras point les bornes de ton prochain, que des prédécesseurs auront fixées dans ton héritage que tu hériteras dans le pays que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne pour le posséder. | Thou shalt not remove thy neighbor`s landmark, which they of old time have set, in thine inheritance which thou shalt inherit, in the land that Jehovah thy God giveth thee to possess it. | Non sposterai i confini del tuo vicino, posti dagli antenati nell'eredità che otterrai nel paese che l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti dà in possesso. |
| 15 | Un seul témoin ne se lèvera pas contre un homme, pour une iniquité ou un péché quelconque, quelque péché qu'il ait commis: sur la déposition de deux témoins ou sur la déposition de trois témoins, la chose sera établie. | One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall a matter be established. | Un solo testimone non basterà ad incolpare alcuno per qualsiasi crimine o peccato abbia commesso; il fatto sarà stabilito sulla deposizione di due o di tre testimoni. |
| 16 | Quand un témoin inique s'élèvera contre un homme, pour témoigner contre lui d'un crime, | If an unrighteous witness rise up against any man to testify against him of wrong-doing, | Se contro qualcuno si leva un falso testimone per accusarlo di un delitto, |
| 17 | alors les deux hommes qui ont le différend, comparaîtront devant l'Éternel, devant les sacrificateurs et les juges qu'il y aura en ces jours-là; | then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before Jehovah, before the priests and the judges that shall be in those days; | allora i due uomini fra i quali ha luogo la vertenza compariranno davanti all'Eterno, davanti ai sacerdoti e ai giudici in carica in quei giorni. |
| 18 | et les juges rechercheront bien, et, si le témoin est un faux témoin, s'il a témoigné faussement contre son frère, | and the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and have testified falsely against his brother; | I giudici indagheranno con cura; e se quel testimone risulta un testimone falso, che ha deposto il falso contro suo fratello, |
| 19 | alors vous lui ferez comme il pensait faire à son frère; et tu ôteras le mal du milieu de toi. | then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to do unto his brother: so shalt thou put away the evil from the midst of thee. | allora farete a lui ciò che intendeva fare a suo fratello. Così estirperai il male di mezzo a te. |
| 20 | Et les autres l'entendront et craindront, et ne feront plus désormais une pareille méchante action au milieu de toi. | And those that remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil in the midst of thee. | Gli altri verranno a saperlo e ne avranno paura, e d'allora in poi non si commetterà più in mezzo a te una tale azione malvagia. |
| 21 | Et ton oeil n'épargnera point: vie pour vie, oeil pour oeil, dent pour dent, main pour main, pied pour pied. | And thine eyes shall not pity; life [shall go] for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot. | L'occhio tuo non avrà pietà, ma sarà: vita per vita, occhio per occhio, dente per dente, mano per mano, piede per piede. |
