| 11 | Que l'Éternel, le Dieu de vos pères, vous fasse croître encore mille fois autant, et qu'il vous bénisse comme il vous l'a dit. | Jehovah, the God of your fathers, make you a thousand times as many as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you! | L'Eterno, il DIO dei vostri padri, vi renda mille volte ancor più numerosi, e vi benedica come vi ha promesso! |
| 12 | Comment porterais-je moi seul vos peines, vos fardeaux et vos procès? | How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife? | Ma come posso io, da solo, portare il vostro carico, il vostro peso e le vostre liti? |
| 13 | Prenez dans vos tribus des hommes sages, intelligents et connus, et je les établirai chefs sur vous. | Take you wise men, and understanding, and known, according to your tribes, and I will make them heads over you. | Scegliete dalle vostre tribù degli uomini saggi e dotati di discernimento e di esperienza, e io li costituirò vostri capi". |
| 14 | Et vous me répondîtes, et dîtes: Il est bon de faire ce que tu as dit. | And ye answered me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken is good [for us] to do. | E voi mi rispondeste, dicendo: "La cosa che tu proponi di fare è buona". |
| 15 | Alors je pris les chefs de vos tribus, des hommes sages et connus, et je les établis chefs sur vous, gouverneurs de milliers, de centaines, de cinquantaines et de dizaines, et officiers dans vos tribus. | So I took the heads of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, and captains of fifties, and captains of tens, and officers, according to your tribes. | Allora presi i capi delle vostre tribù, uomini saggi e dotati di esperienza e li costituii vostri capi, capi di migliaia, capi di centinaia, capi di cinquantine, capi di decine, e ufficiali delle vostre tribù. |
| 16 | Et je commandai à vos juges, en ce temps-là, en disant: Écoutez les différends qui sont entre vos frères, et jugez avec droiture entre l'homme et son frère, et l'étranger qui est avec lui; | And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear [the causes] between your brethren, and judge righteously between a man and his brother, and the sojourner that is with him. | In quel tempo diedi quest'ordine ai vostri giudici dicendo: "Ascoltate le dispute tra i vostri fratelli e giudicate con giustizia tra un uomo e suo fratello o il forestiero che sta con lui. |
| 17 | Vous n'aurez point égard à l'apparence de la personne, dans le jugement; vous écouterez le petit comme le grand; vous ne craindrez personne, car le jugement est à Dieu; et vous ferez venir devant moi la cause qui sera trop difficile pour vous, et je l'entendrai. | Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; ye shall hear the small and the great alike; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God`s: and the cause that is too hard for you ye shall bring unto me, and I will hear it. | Nei vostri giudizi non avrete riguardi personali; darete ascolto al piccolo e al grande; non temerete alcun uomo, perché il giudizio appartiene a DIO; il caso che è troppo difficile per voi lo recherete a me, e io lo ascolterò". |
| 18 | Et je vous ordonnai, en ce temps-là, toutes les choses que vous deviez faire. | And I commanded you at that time all the things which ye should do. | In quel tempo io vi ordinai tutte le cose che dovevate fare. |
| 19 | Puis, nous avons parti d'Horeb, et nous avons marché par tout ce grand et affreux désert que vous avez vu, dans la direction de la montagne des Amoréens, ainsi que l'Éternel notre Dieu nous l'avait commandé; et nous sommes venu jusqu'à Kadès-Barnéa. | And we journeyed from Horeb, and went through all that great and terrible wilderness which ye saw, by the way to the hill-country of the Amorites, as Jehovah our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh-barnea. | Poi partimmo dal monte Horeb e attraversammo tutto quel grande e spaventoso deserto che avete veduto dirigendoci verso la regione montuosa degli Amorei, come l'Eterno, il nostro DIO, ci aveva comandato, e giungemmo a Kadesh-Barnea. |
| 20 | Alors je vous dis: Vous êtes arrivés jusqu'à la montagne des Amoréens, que l'Éternel notre Dieu nous donne. | And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the hill-country of the Amorites, which Jehovah our God giveth unto us. | Allora vi dissi: "Siete arrivati alla regione montuosa degli Amorei, che l'Eterno, il nostro DIO, ci dà. |
| 21 | Vois, l'Éternel ton Dieu met devant toi le pays; monte, prends-en possession, comme l'Éternel, le Dieu de tes pères, te l'a dit; ne crains point, et ne t'effraie point. | Behold, Jehovah thy God hath set the land before thee: go up, take possession, as Jehovah, the God of thy fathers, hath spoken unto thee; fear not, neither be dismayed. | Ecco, l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ha posto il paese davanti a te; sali e prendine possesso, come l'Eterno, il DIO dei tuoi padri, ti ha detto; non avere paura e non scoraggiarti". |
| 22 | Et vous vous êtes approché tous de moi, et vous avez dit: Envoyons devant nous des hommes qui explorent pour nous le pays et nous rendent compte du chemin par lequel nous monterons, et des villes où nous devons aller; | And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, Let us send men before us, that they may search the land for us, and bring us word again of the way by which we must go up, and the cities unto which we shall come. | Allora voi, tutti quanti voi, vi avvicinaste a me e diceste: "Mandiamo degli uomini davanti a noi, che esplorino il paese per noi e ci riferiscano sulla strada per la quale noi dovremo salire, e sulle città nelle quali dovremo entrare". |
| 23 | Et ce discours me plut; et je pris douze hommes d'entre vous, un homme par tribu. | And the thing pleased me well; and I took twelve men of you, one man for every tribe: | La proposta mi piacque; così presi dodici uomini tra voi, uno per tribù. |
| 24 | Et ils se mirent en chemin, et montèrent vers la montagne, et vinrent jusqu'au torrent d'Eshcol, et explorèrent le pays. | and they turned and went up into the hill-country, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and spied it out. | Ed essi partirono, salirono verso i monti, giunsero alla valle di Eshkol ed esplorarono il paese. |
| 25 | Et ils prirent dans leurs mains du fruit du pays, et nous l'apportèrent; et ils nous rendirent compte, et dirent: Le pays que l'Éternel notre Dieu nous donne, est bon. | And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which Jehovah our God giveth unto us. | Presero con sé alcuni frutti del paese, ce li portarono e ci fecero la loro relazione, dicendo: "Il paese che l'Eterno, il nostro DIO, sta per darci è buono". |
| 26 | Mais vous n'avez point voulu y monter, et vous avez été rebelles au commandement de l'Éternel votre Dieu; | Yet ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of Jehovah your God: | Ma voi non voleste salirvi e vi ribellaste all'ordine dell'Eterno, del vostro DIO; |
| 27 | Et vous avez murmuré dans vos tentes, et vous avez dit: C'est parce que l'Éternel nous haïssait, qu'il nous a fait sortir du pays d'Égypte, pour nous livrer entre les mains des Amoréens, pour nous exterminer. | and ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because Jehovah hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us. | e mormoraste nelle vostre tende e diceste: "L'Eterno ci odia, per questo ci ha fatto uscire dal paese d'Egitto per darci in mano agli Amorei e per distruggerci. |
| 28 | Où monterions-nous? Nos frères nous ont fait fondre le cœur, en nous disant: C'est un peuple plus grand et de plus haute taille que nous, ce sont des villes grandes et fortifiées jusqu'au ciel, et même nous avons vu là des descendants des Anakim. | Whither are we going up? our brethren have made our heart to melt, saying, The people are greater and taller than we; the cities are great and fortified up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakim there. | Dove possiamo andare? I nostri fratelli ci hanno fatto struggere il cuore dicendo: E' un popolo più grande e più alto di noi; le città sono grandi e fortificate fino al cielo; vi abbiamo perfino visto i figli degli Anakim". |
| 29 | Mais je vous dis: N'ayez point peur, et ne les craignez point. | Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them. | Allora io vi dissi: "Non spaventatevi e non abbiate paura di loro. |
| 30 | L'Éternel votre Dieu, qui marche devant vous, combattra lui-même pour vous, selon tout ce qu'il a fait pour vous, sous vos yeux, en Égypte, | Jehovah your God who goeth before you, he will fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes, | L'Eterno, il vostro DIO, che va davanti a voi, combatterà egli stesso per voi, come ha fatto sotto i vostri occhi in Egitto. |
| 31 | Et dans le désert; où tu as vu que l'Éternel ton Dieu t'a porté, comme un homme porte son fils, dans tout le chemin que vous avez fait, jusqu'à ce que vous soyez arrivés en ce lieu. | and in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that Jehovah thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came unto this place. | e nel deserto, dove hai visto come l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti ha portato come un uomo porta il proprio figlio, per tutto il cammino che avete percorso, finché siete arrivati a questo luogo". |
| 32 | Mais malgré cela vous n'avez point eu foi en l'Éternel votre Dieu, | Yet in this thing ye did not believe Jehovah your God, | Nonostante questo, non aveste fiducia nell'Eterno vostro DIO, |
| 33 | Qui marchait devant vous par le chemin afin de chercher un lieu pour votre camp, la nuit dans la colonne de feu, pour vous montrer le chemin où vous deviez marcher, et le jour, dans la nuée. | who went before you in the way, to seek you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to show you by what way ye should go, and in the cloud by day. | che andava davanti a voi nel cammino per cercarvi un luogo dove piantare le tende, con il fuoco di notte e con la nuvola di giorno, per mostrarvi per quale via dovevate andare. |
| 34 | Alors l'Éternel entendit la voix de vos paroles, et s'irrita, et jura, en disant: | And Jehovah heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying, | Così l'Eterno udì le vostre parole, si adirò e giurò dicendo: |
| 35 | Aucun des hommes de cette méchante génération ne verra ce bon pays que j'ai juré de donner à vos pères, | Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see the good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers, | "Certo, nessuno degli uomini di questa malvagia generazione vedrà il buon paese che ho giurato di dare ai vostri padri, |
| 36 | Excepté Caleb, fils de Jephunné. Lui, il le verra; et je lui donnerai, à lui et à ses enfants, le pays sur lequel il a marché, parce qu'il a pleinement suivi l'Éternel. | save Caleb the son of Jephunneh: he shall see it; and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed Jehovah. | ad eccezione di Caleb, figlio di Jefunneh. Egli lo vedrà; e a lui e ai suoi figli darò la terra che egli ha calcato, perché ha pienamente seguito l'Eterno". |
| 37 | L'Éternel se mit même en colère contre moi à cause de vous, en disant: Toi non plus, tu n'y entreras pas. | Also Jehovah was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither: | Anche contro a me l'Eterno si adirò per colpa vostra e disse: "Neppure tu vi entrerai; |
| 38 | Josué, fils de Nun, qui te sert, y entrera; encourage-le, car c'est lui qui mettra Israël en possession de ce pays; | Joshua the son of Nun, who standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage thou him; for he shall cause Israel to inherit it. | ma Giosuè, figlio di Nun, che ti sta davanti, vi entrerà; fortificalo, perché egli metterà Israele in possesso del paese. |
| 39 | Et vos petits enfants, dont vous avez dit qu'ils y seraient une proie, et vos fils, qui aujourd'hui ne savent ce que c'est que le bien ou le mal, ce sont eux qui y entreront, et je leur donnerai ce pays, et ils le posséderont; | Moreover your little ones, that ye said should be a prey, and your children, that this day have no knowledge of good or evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it. | E i vostri fanciulli, di cui avete detto che sarebbero divenuti preda i nemici, vostri figli, che oggi non conoscono né il bene né il male, sono quelli che vi entreranno; Io darò a loro ed essi lo possederanno. |
| 40 | Mais vous, retournez-vous-en, et partez pour le désert dans la direction de la mer Rouge. | But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea. | Ma voi tornate indietro e incamminatevi verso il deserto, in direzione del Mar Rosso". |
| 41 | Alors vous avez répondit, et vous m'avez dit: Nous avons péché contre l'Éternel; nous monterons et nous combattrons, selon tout ce que l'Éternel notre Dieu nous a commandé. Et vous avez attaché chacun vos armes, et vous avez entreprit à la légère de monter vers la montagne. | Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against Jehovah, we will go up and fight, according to all that Jehovah our God commanded us. And ye girded on every man his weapons of war, and were forward to go up into the hill-country. | Allora voi rispondeste, dicendomi: "Abbiam peccato contro l'Eterno; noi saliremo e combatteremo esattamente come l'Eterno, il nostro DIO, ci ha ordinato". E ognuno di voi cinse le armi, e vi metteste temerariamente a salire verso la regione montuosa. |
| 42 | Et l'Éternel me dit: Dis-leur: Ne montez point, et ne combattez point, car je ne suis point au milieu de vous; de peur que vous ne soyez battus devant vos ennemis. | And Jehovah said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies. | E l'Eterno mi disse: "Di' loro: Non salite e non combattete, perché io non sono in mezzo a voi, e voi sareste sconfitti davanti ai vostri nemici". |
| 43 | Je vous le rapportai, mais vous ne m'avez point écouté; et vous avez été rebelles au commandement de l'Éternel, et, pleins d'orgueil, vous avez monté vers la montagne. | So I spake unto you, and ye hearkened not; but ye rebelled against the commandment of Jehovah, and were presumptuous, and went up into the hill-country. | Io ve lo dissi, ma voi non mi deste ascolto; anzi vi ribellaste all'ordine dell'Eterno, vi comportaste presuntuosamente e saliste verso la regione montuosa. |
| 44 | Alors l'Amoréen, qui demeurait dans cette montagne, sortit à votre rencontre, et vous poursuivit comme font les abeilles, et vous battit en Séir, jusqu'à Horma. | And the Amorites, that dwelt in that hill-country, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and beat you down in Seir, even unto Hormah. | Allora gli Amorei, che abitano quella regione montuosa, uscirono contro di voi, vi inseguirono come fanno le api e vi respinsero da Seir fino a Hormah. |
| 45 | Et vous êtes revenu et avez pleuré devant l'Éternel; mais l'Éternel n'écouta point votre voix, et ne vous prêta point l'oreille. | And ye returned and wept before Jehovah; but Jehovah hearkened not to your voice, nor gave ear unto you. | Poi voi tornaste e piangeste davanti all'Eterno; ma l'Eterno non diede ascolto alla vostra voce e non vi prestò orecchio. |
| 46 | Et vous avez demeuré à Kadès bien des jours, autant de temps que vous y aviez demeuré. | So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode [there]. | Così rimaneste in Kadesh molti giorni, tutto il tempo che vi fermaste là. |
