| 2 | And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. | Et moi, Jean, je vis la sainte Cité, la nouvelle Jérusalem, qui descendait du Ciel, de devers Dieu, parée comme une épouse qui s'est ornée pour son mari. |
| 3 | And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. | Et j'entendis une grande voix du ciel, disant: voici le Tabernacle de Dieu avec les hommes, et il habitera avec eux; et ils seront son peuple, et Dieu lui-même sera leur Dieu, et il sera avec eux. |
| 4 | And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. | Et Dieu essuiera toutes larmes de leurs yeux, et la mort ne sera plus; et il n'y aura plus ni deuil, ni cri, ni travail; car les premières choses sont passées. |

| 6 | And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. | Il me dit aussi: tout est accompli; je suis l'Alpha et l'Oméga, le commencement, et la fin. A celui qui aura soif je lui donnerai de la fontaine d'eau vive, sans qu'elle lui coûte rien. |
| 7 | He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. | Celui qui vaincra, héritera toutes choses; et je lui serai Dieu, et il me sera fils. |
| 8 | But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. | Mais quant aux timides, aux incrédules, aux exécrables, aux meurtriers, aux fornicateurs, aux empoisonneurs, aux idolâtres et à tous menteurs, leur part sera dans l'étang ardent de feu et de soufre, qui est la mort seconde. |
| 9 | And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. | Alors un des sept Anges qui avaient eu les sept fioles pleines des sept dernières plaies, s'approcha de moi et me parla en disant: Viens et je te montrerai l'Epouse, qui est la femme de l'Agneau. |
| 10 | And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, | Et il me transporta en esprit sur une grande et haute montagne, et il me montra la grande Cité, la sainte Jérusalem, qui descendait du Ciel de devers Dieu, |
| 11 | Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; | Ayant la gloire de Dieu; et sa lumière était semblable à une pierre très précieuse, comme à une pierre de jaspe tirant sur le cristal. |
| 12 | And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: | Et elle avait une grande et haute muraille, avec douze portes, et aux portes douze Anges; et des noms écrits sur elles, qui sont les noms des douze Tribus des enfants d'Israël. |
| 13 | On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. | Du côté de l'Orient, trois portes; du côté de l'Aquilon, trois portes; du côté du Midi, trois portes; et du côté de l'Occident, trois portes. |
| 14 | And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. | Et la muraille de la Cité avait douze fondements, et les noms des douze Apôtres de l'Agneau étaient écrits dessus. |
| 15 | And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof. | Et celui qui parlait avec moi avait un roseau d'or pour mesurer la Cité, ses portes et sa muraille. |
| 16 | And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. | Et la cité était bâtie en carré, et sa longueur était aussi grande que sa largeur. Il mesura donc la Cité avec le roseau d'or, jusqu'à douze mille stades; la longueur, la largeur et la hauteur étaient égales. |
| 17 | And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel. | Puis il mesura la muraille, qui fut de cent quarante-quatre coudées, de la mesure du personnage, c'est-à-dire, de l'Ange. |
| 18 | And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. | Et le bâtiment de la muraille était de jaspe, mais la Cité était d'or pur, semblable à du verre fort transparent. |
| 19 | And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; | Et les fondements de la muraille de la Cité étaient ornés de toute pierre précieuse: le premier fondement était de jaspe; le second, de saphir; le troisième, de calcédoine; le quatrième, d'émeraude; |
| 20 | The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. | Le cinquième, de sardonyx; le sixième, de sardoine; le septième, de chrysolithe; le huitième, de béryl; le neuvième, de topaze; le dixième, de chrysoprase; le onzième, d'hyacinthe; le douzième, d'améthyste. |
| 21 | And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. | Et les douze portes étaient douze perles; chacune des portes était d'une perle; et la rue de la cité était d'or pur, comme du verre le plus transparent. |
| 22 | And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. | Et je ne vis point de Temple en elle; parce que le Seigneur Dieu Tout-puissant et l'Agneau en sont le Temple. |
| 23 | And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. | Et la Cité n'a pas besoin du soleil ni de la lune, pour luire en elle; car la clarté de Dieu l'a éclairée, et l'Agneau est son flambeau. |
| 24 | And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. | Et les nations qui auront été sauvées, marcheront à la faveur de sa lumière; et les Rois de la terre y apporteront ce qu'ils ont de plus magnifique et de plus précieux. |
| 25 | And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. | Et ses portes ne seront point fermées de jour; or il n'y aura point là de nuit. |
| 26 | And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. | Et on y apportera ce que les Gentils ont de plus magnifique et de plus précieux. |
| 27 | And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life. | Il n'y entrera aucune chose souillée, ni personne qui s'abandonne à l'abomination et au mensonge; mais seulement ceux qui sont écrits au Livre de vie de l'Agneau. |
