And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.Now in these days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a murmuring of the Grecian Jews against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.And the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not fit that we should forsake the word of God, and serve tables.
Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.Look ye out therefore, brethren, from among you seven men of good report, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.But we will continue stedfastly in prayer, and in the ministry of the word.
And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus a proselyte of Antioch;Questa proposta piacque a tutti i discepoli.
Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands upon them.
And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem exceedingly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.And Stephen, full of grace and power, wrought great wonders and signs among the people.
Quelques membres de la synagogue dite des Affranchis, de celle des Cyrénéens et de celle des Alexandrins, avec des Juifs de Cilicie et d'Asie, se mirent à discuter avec lui ;Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.But there arose certain of them that were of the synagogue called [the synagogue] of the Libertines, and of the Cyrenians, and of the Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and Asia, disputing with Stephen.E alcuni della sinagoga, detta dei Liberti, dei Cirenei, degli Alessandrini e di quelli di Cilicia e d'Asia si alzarono per disputare con Stefano;
And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.And they were not able to withstand the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spake.ma non potevano resistere alla sapienza e allo spirito col quale egli parlava.
Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.Then they suborned men, who said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and [against] God.Allora istigarono degli uomini che dicessero: Noi lo abbiamo udito pronunciare parole di bestemmia contro Mosè e contro Dio.
And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and seized him, and brought him into the council,Ed eccitarono il popolo, gli anziani e gli scribi; e, piombatigli addosso, lo trascinarono via e lo condussero davanti al sinedrio.
Ils produisirent de faux témoins, qui dirent : Cet homme ne cesse de proférer des paroles contre le lieu saint et contre la loi ;And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:and set up false witnesses, who said, This man ceaseth not to speak words against this holy place, and the law:Poi presentarono dei falsi testimoni che dicevano: Quest'uomo non cessa di proferire parole di bestemmia contro questo santo luogo e contro la legge.
For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.for we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered unto us.Lo abbiamo infatti sentito dire che questo Gesù, il Nazareno, distruggerà questo luogo e muterà i riti che Mosè ci ha dato.
And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.And all that sat in the council, fastening their eyes on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.E tutti quelli che sedevano nel sinedrio, avendo fissati gli occhi su di lui videro il suo volto simile al volto di un angelo.
