| 4 | Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand. | Or molti di coloro che avevano udito la parola credettero; e il numero degli uomini raggiunse circa i cinquemila. |
| 5 | And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes, | Il giorno dopo i capi, gli anziani e gli scribi si radunarono in Gerusalemme, |
| 6 | And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem. | insieme con Anna, sommo sacerdote, e con Caiafa, Giovanni, Alessandro e tutti quelli che appartenevano alla parentela dei sommi sacerdoti. |
| 7 | And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this? | E, fatti comparire là in mezzo Pietro e Giovanni, domandarono loro: Con quale potere o in nome di chi avete fatto questo?. |
| 8 | Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, | Allora Pietro, ripieno di Spirito Santo, disse loro: Capi del popolo e anziani d'Israele, |
| 9 | If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; | se oggi noi siamo giudicati intorno ad un beneficio fatto a un uomo infermo, per sapere come egli è stato guarito, |
| 10 | Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. | sia noto a tutti voi e a tutto il popolo d'Israele che ciò è stato fatto nel nome di Gesù Cristo il Nazareno, che voi avete crocifisso e che Dio ha risuscitato dai morti; in virtù di lui compare davanti a voi quest'uomo completamente guarito. |
| 11 | This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. | Questi è la pietra che è stata da voi edificatori rigettata e che è divenuta la testata d'angolo, |
| 12 | Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. | E in nessun altro vi è la salvezza, poiché non c'è alcun altro nome sotto il cielo che sia dato agli uomini, per mezzo del quale dobbiamo essere salvati. |
| 13 | Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. | Or essi, vista la franchezza di Pietro e di Giovanni e avendo capito che erano uomini illetterati e senza istruzione, si meravigliavano e riconoscevano che erano stati con Gesù. |
| 14 | And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it. | Vedendo poi in piedi accanto a loro l'uomo che era stato guarito, non potevano dire nulla contro. |
| 15 | But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, | E, dopo aver comandato loro di uscire dal sinedrio, si consultarono fra loro, |
| 16 | Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it. | dicendo: Che faremo a questi uomini? Perché è noto a tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme che un evidente miracolo è stato fatto da loro, e noi non lo possiamo negare; |
| 17 | But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name. | ma affinché questo non si divulghi maggiormente fra il popolo, imponiamo loro con severe minacce di non parlare più a nessun uomo in questo nome. |
| 18 | And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. | E, chiamatili, comandarono loro di non parlare affatto, né di insegnare nel nome di Gesù, |
| 19 | But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. | Ma Pietro e Giovanni, rispondendo loro, dissero: Giudicate voi, se è giusto davanti a Dio ubbidire a voi, piuttosto che a Dio. |
| 20 | For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard. | Poiché, quanto a noi, non possiamo non parlare delle cose che abbiamo visto e udito. |
| 21 | So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done. | Ed essi, minacciatili di nuovo, li lasciarono andare, non trovando alcun modo per poterli punire, a motivo del popolo, poiché tutti glorificavano Dio per ciò che era accaduto. |
| 22 | For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed. | Infatti l'uomo, in cui si era prodotta quella guarigione miracolosa, aveva più di quarant'anni. |
| 23 | And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them. | Quando furono rilasciati, ritornarono dai loro e riferirono tutte le cose che i capi dei sacerdoti e gli anziani avevano loro detto. |
| 24 | And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is: | All'udire ciò, alzarono all'unanimità la voce a Dio e dissero: Signore, tu sei il Dio che hai fatto il cielo, la terra, il mare e tutte le cose che sono in essi, |
| 25 | Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? | e che mediante lo Spirito Santo hai detto, per bocca di Davide tuo servo: "Perché si sono adirate le genti e i popoli hanno macchinato cose vane? |
| 26 | The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. | I re della terra si sono sollevati e i principi si sono radunati insieme contro il Signore e contro il suo Cristo |
| 27 | For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, | Poiché proprio contro il tuo santo Figlio Gesù, che tu hai unto, si sono radunati Erode e Ponzio Pilato con i gentili e il popolo d'Israele, |
| 28 | For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done. | per fare tutte le cose che la tua mano e il tuo consiglio avevano prestabilito che avvenissero. |
| 29 | And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, | Ed ora, Signore, considera le loro minacce e concedi ai tuoi servi di annunziare la tua parola con ogni franchezza, |
| 30 | By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. | stendendo la tua mano per guarire e perché si compiano segni e prodigi nel nome del tuo santo Figlio Gesù. |
| 31 | And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. | E, dopo che ebbero pregato, il luogo dove erano radunati tremò; e furono tutti ripieni di Spirito Santo, e annunziavano la parola di Dio con franchezza. |
| 32 | And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. | E il gran numero di coloro che avevano creduto era di un sol cuore e di una sola anima; nessuno diceva esser suo quello che aveva, ma tutte le cose erano in comune fra di loro. |
| 33 | And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. | E gli apostoli con grande potenza rendevano testimonianza della risurrezione del Signore Gesù; e grande grazia era sopra tutti loro. |
| 34 | Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, | Infatti non vi era alcun bisognoso fra di loro, perché tutti coloro che possedevano poderi o case li vendevano e portavano il ricavato delle cose vendute, |
| 35 | And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need. | e lo deponevano ai piedi degli apostoli, poi veniva distribuito a ciascuno, secondo il suo particolare bisogno. |
| 36 | And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus, | Or Iose, soprannominato dagli apostoli Barnaba (che significa: "figlio di consolazione"), levita, originario di Cipro. |
| 37 | Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet. | avendo un campo lo vendette e portò il ricavato e lo depose ai piedi degli apostoli. |
