| 5 | Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people. | Et Paul sachant qu'une partie d'entre eux était des Sadducéens, et l'autre des Pharisiens, il s'écria dans le conseil: hommes frères! je suis Pharisien, fils de Pharisien, je suis tiré en cause pour l'espérance, et pour la résurrection des morts. | Paolo rispose: Non sapevo, fratelli, che egli fosse sommo sacerdote, perché sta scritto: "Tu non dirai male del principe del tuo popolo". |
| 6 | But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question. | Et quand il eut dit cela, il s'émut une dissension entre les Pharisiens et les Sadducéens; et l'assemblée fut divisée. | Paolo quindi, sapendo che una parte dei presenti era composta di sadducei e l'altra di farisei gridò a quelli del sinedrio: Fratelli, io sono fariseo, figlio di farisei, è a motivo della speranza e della risurrezione dei morti che vengo giudicato. |
| 7 | And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided. | Car les Sadducéens disent qu'il n'y a point de résurrection, ni d'Ange, ni d'esprit, mais les Pharisiens soutiennent l'un et l'autre. | Appena egli disse questo, nacque un dissenso fra i farisei e i sadducei, e l'assemblea si divise; |
| 8 | For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both. | Et il se fit un grand cri. Alors les Scribes du parti des Pharisiens se levèrent et contestèrent, disant: nous ne trouvons aucun mal en cet homme-ci; mais si un esprit ou un Ange lui a parlé, ne combattons point contre Dieu. | infatti i sadducei dicono che non vi è risurrezione né angelo, né spirito, mentre i farisei affermano l'una e l'altra cosa. |
| 9 | And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees' part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God. | Et comme il se fit une grande division, le Tribun craignant que Paul ne fût mis en pièces par eux, commanda que les soldats descendissent, et qu'ils l'enlevassent du milieu d'eux, et l'amenassent en la forteresse. | Si fece allora un grande clamore. Gli scribi del partito dei farisei, alzatisi, protestavano con forza e dicevano: Noi non troviamo nulla di male in quest'uomo; e se uno spirito o un angelo gli avesse parlato? Non combattiamo contro Dio. |
| 10 | And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul should have been pulled in pieces of them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the castle. | Et la nuit suivante, le Seigneur se présenta à lui, et lui dit: Paul, aie bon courage: car comme tu as rendu témoignage de moi à Jérusalem, tout de même il faut que tu me rendes aussi témoignage à Rome. | Ora siccome il dissenso andava aumentando, il tribuno, per timore che Paolo fosse fatto a pezzi da loro, ordinò ai soldati di scendere e di portarlo via dal loro mezzo, e di ricondurlo nella fortezza. |
| 11 | And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome. | Et quand le jour fut venu, quelques Juifs firent un complot et un serment avec exécration, disant qu'ils ne mangeraient ni ne boiraient jusqu'à ce qu'ils eussent tué Paul. | La notte seguente, il Signore si presentò a lui e disse: Paolo, coraggio, perché come tu hai reso testimonianza di me in Gerusalemme, così bisogna che tu la renda anche a Roma. |
| 12 | And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul. | Et ils étaient plus de quarante qui avaient fait cette conjuration. | Quando fu giorno, certi Giudei tramarono una congiura obbligandosi con giuramento esecratorio a non mangiare né bere, finché non avessero ucciso Paolo. |
| 13 | And they were more than forty which had made this conspiracy. | Et ils s'adressèrent aux principaux Sacrificateurs et aux Anciens, et leur dirent: nous avons fait un voeu, avec exécration de serment, que nous ne goûterions de rien jusqu'à ce que nous ayons tué Paul. | Erano più di quaranta quelli che avevano fatto questa congiura. |
| 14 | And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul. | Vous donc maintenant faites savoir au Tribun par l'avis du Conseil, qu'il vous l'amène demain, comme si vous vouliez connaître de lui quelque chose plus exactement, et nous serons tous prêts pour le tuer avant qu'il approche. | Essi si presentarono ai capi dei sacerdoti e agli anziani e dissero: Noi ci siamo impegnati con giuramento di non assaggiare alcuna cosa, finché non abbiamo ucciso Paolo. |
| 15 | Now therefore ye with the council signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you to morrow, as though ye would enquire something more perfectly concerning him: and we, or ever he come near, are ready to kill him. | Mais le fils de la soeur de Paul ayant appris cette conjuration, vint et entra dans la forteresse, et le rapporta à Paul. | Or dunque voi con il sinedrio fate una petizione al tribuno perché domani ve lo riconduca, come se voleste indagare più a fondo sul suo caso, e noi, prima che si avvicini, saremo pronti ad ucciderlo. |
| 16 | And when Paul's sister's son heard of their lying in wait, he went and entered into the castle, and told Paul. | Et Paul ayant appelé un des centeniers, lui dit: mène ce jeune homme au Tribun; car il a quelque chose à lui rapporter. | Ma il figlio della sorella di Paolo, venuto a conoscenza dell'agguato corse alla fortezza e, entrato, lo riferì a Paolo. |
| 17 | Then Paul called one of the centurions unto him, and said, Bring this young man unto the chief captain: for he hath a certain thing to tell him. | Il le prit donc, et le mena au Tribun, et il lui dit: Paul qui est prisonnier m'a appelé, et m'a prié de t'amener ce jeune homme qui a quelque chose à te dire. | Allora Paolo, chiamato a sé uno dei centurioni, disse: Conduci questo giovane dal tribuno, perché ha qualcosa da comunicargli. |
| 18 | So he took him, and brought him to the chief captain, and said, Paul the prisoner called me unto him, and prayed me to bring this young man unto thee, who hath something to say unto thee. | Et le Tribun le prenant par la main, se retira à part, et lui demanda: qu'est-ce que tu as à me rapporter? | Egli dunque lo prese, lo condusse dal tribuno e disse: Paolo, quel prigioniero, mi ha chiamato e mi ha pregato di condurti questo giovane, che ha qualcosa da dirti. |
| 19 | Then the chief captain took him by the hand, and went with him aside privately, and asked him, What is that thou hast to tell me? | Et il lui dit: les Juifs ont conspiré de te prier que demain tu envoies Paul au Conseil, comme s'ils voulaient s'enquérir de lui plus exactement de quelque chose. | Allora il tribuno, presolo per mano, lo condusse in disparte e domandò: Che cosa hai da riferirmi?. |
| 20 | And he said, The Jews have agreed to desire thee that thou wouldest bring down Paul to morrow into the council, as though they would enquire somewhat of him more perfectly. | Mais n'y consens point: car plus de quarante hommes d'entre eux sont en embûches contre lui, qui ont fait un voeu avec exécration de serment, de ne manger ni boire jusqu'à ce qu'ils l'aient tué; et ils sont maintenant tous prêts, attendant ce que tu leur permettras. | Egli disse: I Giudei si sono accordati per chiederti che domani tu conduca Paolo giù nel sinedrio, come se volessero investigare più a fondo il suo caso. |
| 21 | But do not thou yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, which have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from thee. | Le Tribun donc renvoya le jeune homme, en lui commandant de ne dire à personne qu'il lui eût déclaré ces choses. | Perciò tu non dar loro ascolto, perché più di quaranta uomini di loro, stanno in agguato per prenderlo, essendosi impegnati con un voto di non mangiare né bere, finché non l'abbiano ucciso; ed ora sono pronti, aspettando che tu lo permetta loro. |
| 22 | So the chief captain then let the young man depart, and charged him, See thou tell no man that thou hast shewed these things to me. | Puis ayant appelé deux centeniers, il leur dit: tenez prêts à trois heures de la nuit deux cents soldats, et soixante-dix hommes de cheval, et deux cents archers, pour aller à Césarée. | Il tribuno dunque licenziò il giovane, ordinandogli di non palesare ad alcuno che gli avesse fatto sapere queste cose. |
| 23 | And he called unto him two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Caesarea, and horsemen threescore and ten, and spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night; | Et ayez soin qu'il y ait des montures prêtes, afin qu'ayant fait monter Paul, ils le mènent sûrement au Gouverneur Félix. | Poi, chiamati due centurioni, disse loro: Tenete pronti fin dalle ore tre della notte duecento soldati, settanta cavalieri e duecento lancieri, per andare fino a Cesare. |
| 24 | And provide them beasts, that they may set Paul on, and bring him safe unto Felix the governor. | Et il lui écrivit une Lettre en ces termes: | Disse loro ancora di tenere pronte delle cavalcature per farvi montare su Paolo e condurlo sano e salvo dal governatore Felice. |
| 25 | And he wrote a letter after this manner: | Claude Lysias au très-excellent Gouverneur Félix, Salut. | Egli scrisse pure una lettera di questo tenore: |
| 26 | Claudius Lysias unto the most excellent governor Felix sendeth greeting. | Comme cet homme qui avait été saisi par les Juifs, était près d'être tué par eux, je suis survenu avec la garnison, et je le leur ai ôté, après avoir connu qu'il était citoyen Romain. | Claudio Lisia, all'eccellentissimo governatore Felice, salute. |
| 27 | This man was taken of the Jews, and should have been killed of them: then came I with an army, and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman. | Et voulant savoir de quoi ils l'accusaient, je l'ai mené à leur Conseil. | Quest'uomo era stato preso dai Giudei e stava per essere da loro ucciso, quando io sopraggiunsi con i soldati e lo liberai, avendo inteso che era cittadino romano. |
| 28 | And when I would have known the cause wherefore they accused him, I brought him forth into their council: | Où j'ai trouvé qu'il était accusé touchant des questions de leur Loi, n'ayant commis aucun crime digne de mort, ou d'emprisonnement. | Volendo poi sapere la colpa di cui l'accusavano, l'ho condotto nel loro sinedrio. |
| 29 | Whom I perceived to be accused of questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death or of bonds. | Et ayant été averti des embûches que les Juifs avaient dressées contre lui, je te l'ai incessamment envoyé; ayant aussi commandé aux accusateurs de dire devant toi les choses qu'ils ont contre lui. Bien te soit. | Ho così trovato che era accusato per questioni relative alla loro legge e che non c'era in lui alcuna colpa degna di morte né di prigione. |
| 30 | And when it was told me how that the Jews laid wait for the man, I sent straightway to thee, and gave commandment to his accusers also to say before thee what they had against him. | 33 | Who, when they came to Caesarea and delivered the epistle to the governor, presented Paul also before him. | Et quand le Gouverneur eut lu la lettre, et qu'il eut demandé à Paul de quelle Province il était, ayant entendu qu'il était de Cilicie: | Quelli giunti a Cesarea e consegnata la lettera al governatore, gli presentarono anche Paolo. |
| 34 | And when the governor had read the letter, he asked of what province he was. And when he understood that he was of Cilicia; | Je t'entendrai, lui dit-il, plus amplement quand tes accusateurs seront aussi venus.
