Es-tu assis là pour me juger selon la loi; et, contrairement à la loi, tu ordonnes que je sois frappé? | Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law? | Allora Paolo gli disse: Dio percuoterà te, muro imbiancato. | 5 | Et Paul dit: Je ne savais pas, frères, que ce fût le souverain sacrificateur; car il est écrit: "Tu ne diras pas du mal du chef de ton peuple". | Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people. | Paolo rispose: Non sapevo, fratelli, che egli fosse sommo sacerdote, perché sta scritto: "Tu non dirai male del principe del tuo popolo". |
| 6 | Paul, sachant qu'une partie d'entre eux étaient des sadducéens et l'autre des pharisiens, s'écria dans le sanhédrin: Hommes frères, je suis pharisien, fils de pharisien; je suis mis en jugement pour l'espérance et la résurrection des morts. | But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question. | Paolo quindi, sapendo che una parte dei presenti era composta di sadducei e l'altra di farisei gridò a quelli del sinedrio: Fratelli, io sono fariseo, figlio di farisei, è a motivo della speranza e della risurrezione dei morti che vengo giudicato. |

| 9 | Et il s'éleva une grande clameur; et quelques scribes du parti des pharisiens se levèrent et contestèrent, disant: Nous ne trouvons aucun mal en cet homme; mais si un esprit lui a parlé, ou un ange... | And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees' part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God. | Si fece allora un grande clamore. Gli scribi del partito dei farisei, alzatisi, protestavano con forza e dicevano: Noi non troviamo nulla di male in quest'uomo; e se uno spirito o un angelo gli avesse parlato? | 10 | Et un grand tumulte s'étant élevé, le chiliarque, craignant que Paul ne fût mis en pièces par eux, commanda à la troupe de descendre et de l'enlever du milieu d'eux et de le conduire à la forteresse. | And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul should have been pulled in pieces of them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the castle. | Ora siccome il dissenso andava aumentando, il tribuno, per timore che Paolo fosse fatto a pezzi da loro, ordinò ai soldati di scendere e di portarlo via dal loro mezzo, e di ricondurlo nella fortezza. |
| 11 | Et la nuit suivante, le Seigneur se tint près de lui et dit: Aie bon courage; car comme tu as rendu témoignage des choses qui me regardent, à Jérusalem, ainsi il faut que tu rendes témoignage aussi à Rome. | And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome. | La notte seguente, il Signore si presentò a lui e disse: Paolo, coraggio, perché come tu hai reso testimonianza di me in Gerusalemme, così bisogna che tu la renda anche a Roma. |
| 12 | Et quand le jour fut venu, les Juifs s'unirent et s'obligèrent par un serment d'exécration, disant qu'ils ne mangeraient ni ne boiraient jusqu'à ce qu'ils eussent tué Paul. | And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul. | Quando fu giorno, certi Giudei tramarono una congiura obbligandosi con giuramento esecratorio a non mangiare né bere, finché non avessero ucciso Paolo. |
| 13 | Et ils étaient plus de quarante qui avaient fait cette conjuration. | And they were more than forty which had made this conspiracy. | Erano più di quaranta quelli che avevano fatto questa congiura. |
| 14 | Et ils vinrent aux principaux sacrificateurs et aux anciens, et dirent: Nous nous sommes obligés par un serment d'exécration à ne goûter de rein jusqu'à ce que nous ayons tué Paul. | And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul. | Essi si presentarono ai capi dei sacerdoti e agli anziani e dissero: Noi ci siamo impegnati con giuramento di non assaggiare alcuna cosa, finché non abbiamo ucciso Paolo. |
| 15 | Vous donc, maintenant, avec le sanhédrin, avertissez le chiliarque pour qu'il le fasse descendre vers vous, comme si vous vouliez vous informer plus exactement de ce qui le regarde; et, avant qu'il approche, nous sommes prêts pour le tuer. | Now therefore ye with the council signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you to morrow, as though ye would enquire something more perfectly concerning him: and we, or ever he come near, are ready to kill him. | Or dunque voi con il sinedrio fate una petizione al tribuno perché domani ve lo riconduca, come se voleste indagare più a fondo sul suo caso, e noi, prima che si avvicini, saremo pronti ad ucciderlo. |
| 16 | Mais le fils de la soeur de Paul, ayant ouï parler de ce guet-apens, s'en alla et entra dans la forteresse, et le rapporta à Paul. | And when Paul's sister's son heard of their lying in wait, he went and entered into the castle, and told Paul. | Ma il figlio della sorella di Paolo, venuto a conoscenza dell'agguato corse alla fortezza e, entrato, lo riferì a Paolo. |
| 17 | Et Paul, ayant appelé l'un des centurions, dit: Conduis ce jeune homme au chiliarque, car il a quelque chose à lui rapporter. | Then Paul called one of the centurions unto him, and said, Bring this young man unto the chief captain: for he hath a certain thing to tell him. | Allora Paolo, chiamato a sé uno dei centurioni, disse: Conduci questo giovane dal tribuno, perché ha qualcosa da comunicargli. |
| 18 | Il le prit donc et le conduisit au chiliarque et dit: Le prisonnier Paul m'a appelé, et m'a prié de t'amener ce jeune homme qui a quelque chose à te dire. | So he took him, and brought him to the chief captain, and said, Paul the prisoner called me unto him, and prayed me to bring this young man unto thee, who hath something to say unto thee. | Egli dunque lo prese, lo condusse dal tribuno e disse: Paolo, quel prigioniero, mi ha chiamato e mi ha pregato di condurti questo giovane, che ha qualcosa da dirti. |
| 19 | Et le chiliarque, l'ayant pris par la main et s'étant retiré à part, lui demanda: Qu'est-ce que tu as à me rapporter? | Then the chief captain took him by the hand, and went with him aside privately, and asked him, What is that thou hast to tell me? | Allora il tribuno, presolo per mano, lo condusse in disparte e domandò: Che cosa hai da riferirmi?. |
| 20 | Et il dit: Les Juifs se sont entendus pour te prier que demain tu fasses descendre Paul devant le sanhédrin, comme si tu voulais t'enquérir plus exactement à son sujet. | And he said, The Jews have agreed to desire thee that thou wouldest bring down Paul to morrow into the council, as though they would enquire somewhat of him more perfectly. | Egli disse: I Giudei si sono accordati per chiederti che domani tu conduca Paolo giù nel sinedrio, come se volessero investigare più a fondo il suo caso. |
| 21 | Toi donc n'y consens pas, car plus de quarante hommes d'entre eux lui dressent un guet-apens, lesquels se sont obligés par un serment d'exécration de ne manger ni ne boire jusqu'à ce qu'ils l'aient tué; et ils sont maintenant prêts, attendant de toi la promesse. | But do not thou yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, which have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from thee. | Perciò tu non dar loro ascolto, perché più di quaranta uomini di loro, stanno in agguato per prenderlo, essendosi impegnati con un voto di non mangiare né bere, finché non l'abbiano ucciso; ed ora sono pronti, aspettando che tu lo permetta loro. |
| 22 | Le chiliarque donc renvoya le jeune homme, lui ayant enjoint de ne divulguer à personne qu'il lui eût déclaré ces choses. | So the chief captain then let the young man depart, and charged him, See thou tell no man that thou hast shewed these things to me. | Il tribuno dunque licenziò il giovane, ordinandogli di non palesare ad alcuno che gli avesse fatto sapere queste cose. |
| 23 | Et ayant appelé deux des centurions, il dit: Préparez deux cents soldats pour aller à Césarée, et soixante-dix cavaliers, et deux cents porte-lances, dès la troisième heure de la nuit; | And he called unto him two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Caesarea, and horsemen threescore and ten, and spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night; | Poi, chiamati due centurioni, disse loro: Tenete pronti fin dalle ore tre della notte duecento soldati, settanta cavalieri e duecento lancieri, per andare fino a Cesare. |
| 24 | et procurez-vous des montures, afin qu'ayant mis Paul dessus ils le conduisent en sûreté auprès de Félix le gouverneur. | And provide them beasts, that they may set Paul on, and bring him safe unto Felix the governor. | Disse loro ancora di tenere pronte delle cavalcature per farvi montare su Paolo e condurlo sano e salvo dal governatore Felice. |

| 27 | Cet homme ayant été saisi par les Juifs et étant sur le point d'être tué par eux, je suis survenu avec la troupe et je l'ai délivré, ayant appris qu'il est Romain. | This man was taken of the Jews, and should have been killed of them: then came I with an army, and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman. | Quest'uomo era stato preso dai Giudei e stava per essere da loro ucciso, quando io sopraggiunsi con i soldati e lo liberai, avendo inteso che era cittadino romano. |
| 28 | Et voulant connaître le motif pour lequel ils l'accusaient, je l'ai fait descendre devant leur sanhédrin; | And when I would have known the cause wherefore they accused him, I brought him forth into their council: | Volendo poi sapere la colpa di cui l'accusavano, l'ho condotto nel loro sinedrio. |
| 29 | et j'ai trouvé qu'il était accusé touchant des questions de leur loi, mais qu'il n'était sous le coup d'aucune accusation qui méritât la mort ou les liens. | Whom I perceived to be accused of questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death or of bonds. | Ho così trovato che era accusato per questioni relative alla loro legge e che non c'era in lui alcuna colpa degna di morte né di prigione. |
| 30 | Et ayant été averti des embûches que les Juifs allaient dresser contre cet homme, je te l'ai aussitôt envoyé, ayant donné l'ordre à ses accusateurs aussi de dire devant toi les choses qu'ils ont contre lui. Porte-toi bien. | And when it was told me how that the Jews laid wait for the man, I sent straightway to thee, and gave commandment to his accusers also to say before thee what they had against him. Farewell. | Quando poi mi fu riferito dell'agguato che i Giudei tendevano a quest'uomo, te l'ho subito mandato, ordinando pure ai suoi accusatori di esporre davanti a te le rimostranze che hanno contro di lui. | 31 | Les soldats donc, selon les ordres qui leur avaient été donnés, prirent Paul et le menèrent de nuit à Antipatris. | Then the soldiers, as it was commanded them, took Paul, and brought him by night to Antipatris. | I soldati dunque, secondo ch'era stato loro ordinato, presero in consegna Paolo e lo condussero di notte ad Antipàdride. |
| 32 | Et le lendemain, ayant laissé les cavaliers s'en aller avec lui, ils retournèrent à la forteresse. | On the morrow they left the horsemen to go with him, and returned to the castle: | IL giorno seguente, lasciato ai cavalieri il compito di andare con lui, ritornarono alla fortezza. |
| 33 | Et ceux-là, étant arrivés à Césarée, remirent la lettre au gouverneur et lui présentèrent aussi Paul. | Who, when they came to Caesarea and delivered the epistle to the governor, presented Paul also before him. | Quelli giunti a Cesarea e consegnata la lettera al governatore, gli presentarono anche Paolo. |
| 34 | Et quand il eut lu la lettre et qu'il eut demandé de quelle province il était, ayant appris qu'il était de Cilicie: | And when the governor had read the letter, he asked of what province he was. And when he understood that he was of Cilicia; | Dopo aver letto la lettera, il governatore domandò a Paolo di quale provincia fosse; e, saputo che era della Cilicia, |
| 35 | Je t'entendrai à fond, dit-il, quand tes accusateurs aussi seront arrivés. Et il donna ordre qu'il fût gardé au prétoire d'Hérode. | I will hear thee, said he, when thine accusers are also come. And he commanded him to be kept in Herod's judgment hall. | gli disse: Io ti ascolterò quando saranno arrivati anche i tuoi accusatori. E ordinò che fosse custodito nel palazzo di Erode. |
