| 1 | And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, | Pendant qu'Apollos était à Corinthe, Paul, après avoir parcouru les hautes provinces de l'Asie, vint à Éphèse. | 9 | But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus. | Mais, comme quelques-uns s'endurcissaient et étaient incrédules, décriant la voie du Seigneur devant la multitude, il se retira, et sépara les disciples d'avec eux, enseignant tous les jours dans l'école d'un certain Tyrannus. | Ma poiché alcuni si indurivano e persistevano nell'incredulità, parlando male della via in presenza della folla, egli, ritiratosi da loro, separò i discepoli e continuò a discutere ogni giorno nella scuola di un certo Tiranno. |
| 10 | And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks. | Or cela dura deux ans, en sorte que tous ceux qui demeuraient en Asie, tant Juifs que Grecs, entendirent la Parole du Seigneur Jésus. | E questo durò per due anni di modo che tutti gli abitanti dell'Asia, Giudei e Greci, udirono la parola del Signore Gesù. |

| 12 | So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. | Au point qu'en appliquant sur les malades des mouchoirs et des linges qui avaient touché son corps, ils étaient guéris de leurs maladies, et les esprits malins sortaient. | al punto che si portavano sui malati degli asciugatoi e dei grembiuli che erano stati sul suo corpo, e le malattie si allontanavano da loro e gli spiriti maligni uscivano da loro. |

| 15 | And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? | Mais l'esprit malin leur répondit: Je connais Jésus, et je sais qui est Paul; mais vous, qui êtes-vous? | Ma lo spirito maligno rispose e disse: Io conosco Gesù e so chi è Paolo, ma voi chi siete?. |
| 16 | And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. | Et l'homme qui était possédé de cet esprit malin, se jeta sur eux, et s'en étant rendu maître, les maltraita tellement, qu'ils s'enfuirent de la maison nus et blessés. | Quindi l'uomo che aveva lo spirito maligno si avventò su di loro e, sopraffattili, fece loro tal violenza che fuggirono da quella casa, nudi e feriti. |
| 17 | And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified. | Cela fut connu de tous les Juifs et de tous les Grecs qui demeuraient à Éphèse, et ils furent tous saisis de crainte; et le nom du Seigneur Jésus était magnifié. | Or questo fu risaputo da tutti i Giudei e Greci che abitavano ad Efeso, e furono tutti presi da paura, e il nome del Signore Gesù era magnificato. |
| 18 | And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds. | Et plusieurs de ceux qui avaient cru, venaient confesser et déclarer ce qu'ils avaient fait. | E molti di coloro che avevano creduto venivano a confessare, e a dichiarare le cose che avevano fatto. |
| 19 | Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. | Et un grand nombre de ceux qui avaient exercé des sorcelleries, ayant apporté leurs livres, les brûlèrent devant tout le monde; et quand on en eut calculé le prix, on le trouva de cinquante mille pièces d'argent. | Molti di coloro che avevano esercitato le arti occulte radunarono assieme i libri e li arsero in presenza di tutti, e, calcolatone il prezzo, si trovò che ammontava a cinquantamila pezzi d'argento. |
| 20 | So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed. | Ainsi la Parole du Seigneur se répandait, et devenait de plus en plus efficace. | Così la parola di Dio cresceva potentemente e si affermava. |
| 21 | After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome. | Après cela, Paul se proposa, dans son esprit, de traverser la Macédoine et l'Achaïe, et d'aller à Jérusalem, disant: Après que j'aurai été là, il faut aussi que je voie Rome. | Dopo questi avvenimenti. Paolo si mise nell'animo di andare a Gerusalemme passando per la Macedonia e per l'Acaia, e diceva: Dopo essere stato lì, bisogna che io veda anche Roma. |
| 22 | So he sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timotheus and Erastus; but he himself stayed in Asia for a season. | Et ayant envoyé en Macédoine deux de ceux qui l'aidaient, Timothée et Éraste, il demeura encore quelque temps en Asie. | Mandati allora in Macedonia due dei suoi collaboratori, cioè Timoteo ed Erasto, egli si trattenne ancora qualche tempo in Asia. |
| 23 | And the same time there arose no small stir about that way. | Or il arriva en ce temps-là un grand trouble à l'occasion de la doctrine. | Or in quel tempo nacque un grande tumulto in merito alla Via, |
| 24 | For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, which made silver shrines for Diana, brought no small gain unto the craftsmen; | En effet, un nommé Démétrius, orfèvre, qui faisait des sanctuaires de Diane en argent, et qui donnait beaucoup à gagner aux ouvriers, | perché un tale di nome Demetrio, orafo, che faceva dei templi di Diana in argento, procurava non poco guadagno agli artigiani. |
| 25 | Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth. | Les assembla avec ceux qui travaillaient à ces sortes d'ouvrages, et leur dit: O hommes, vous savez que tout notre gain vient de cet ouvrage; | Costui li radunò insieme ai lavoratori che avevano un'attività affine, e disse: Uomini, voi sapete che il nostro guadagno proviene da questa attività. |
| 26 | Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands: | Et vous voyez et vous entendez dire, que non seulement à Éphèse, mais presque par toute l'Asie, ce Paul a persuadé et perverti un grand nombre de personnes, en disant qu'ils ne sont pas des dieux ceux qui sont faits de main d'homme. | Or voi vedete e udite che questo Paolo ha persuaso e sviato un gran numero di gente non solo in Efeso, ma in quasi tutta l'Asia, dicendo che non sono dèi quelli costruiti da mano d'uomo. |
| 27 | So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth. | Et il n'y a pas seulement à craindre pour nous que notre métier ne soit décrié, mais même que le temple de la grande Diane ne tombe dans le mépris, et que sa majesté, que toute l'Asie et que le monde entier révère, ne s'anéantisse aussi. | Non solo c'è pericolo per noi che quest'arte particolare venga discreditata, ma che anche il tempio della grande dea Diana non conti più nulla, e che venga spogliata della sua grandezza colei che tutta l'Asia, anzi tutto il mondo, adora. |
| 28 | And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesians. | Ayant entendu cela, ils furent transportés de colère, et ils s'écrièrent: Grande est la Diane des Éphésiens! | All'udire queste cose, essi si accesero di sdegno e gridarono, dicendo: Grande è la Diana degli Efesini. |
| 29 | And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul's companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theatre. | Et toute la ville fut remplie de confusion; et ils coururent tous ensemble au théâtre, entraînant avec eux Gaïus et Aristarque, Macédoniens, compagnons de voyage de Paul. | E tutta la città fu ripiena di confusione; e, trascinando con forza Gaio e Aristarco, Macedoni, compagni di viaggio di Paolo, corsero tutti d'accordo al teatro. |
| 30 | And when Paul would have entered in unto the people, the disciples suffered him not. | Or Paul voulait se présenter devant le peuple; mais les disciples ne le lui permirent pas. | Or Paolo voleva presentarsi al popolo, ma i discepoli non glielo permisero. |
| 31 | And certain of the chief of Asia, which were his friends, sent unto him, desiring him that he would not adventure himself into the theatre. | Et même quelques-uns des Asiarques, qui étaient ses amis, envoyèrent l'avertir de ne point se rendre dans le théâtre. | Anche alcuni Asiarchi, che gli erano amici, mandarono a pregarlo di non presentarsi al teatro. |
| 32 | Some therefore cried one thing, and some another: for the assembly was confused: and the more part knew not wherefore they were come together. | Cependant, les uns criaient d'une manière, et les autres d'une autre; car l'assemblée était tumultueuse, et la plupart ne savaient pas pourquoi ils étaient assemblés. | Intanto gli uni gridavano una cosa, gli altri un'altra, tanto che l'adunanza era confusa e i più non sapevano per quale ragione si fossero radunati. |
| 33 | And they drew Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander beckoned with the hand, and would have made his defence unto the people. | Alors on tira de la foule Alexandre, que les Juifs mettaient en avant; et Alexandre, faisant signe de la main, voulait présenter au peuple leur défense. | Allora fu fatto uscire dalla folla Alessandro, spinto avanti dai Giudei. | 34 | But when they knew that he was a Jew, all with one voice about the space of two hours cried out, Great is Diana of the Ephesians. | Mais, dès qu'ils eurent reconnu qu'il était Juif, ils s'écrièrent tous d'une voix, durant près de deux heures: Grande est la Diane des Éphésiens! | Ma, quando si resero conto che egli era Giudeo, si misero tutti a gridare a una sola voce per quasi due ore: Grande è la Diana degli Efesini. |
| 35 | And when the townclerk had appeased the people, he said, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter? | Alors le secrétaire, ayant apaisé le peuple, dit: Hommes Éphésiens, quel est donc l'homme qui ne sache que la ville des Éphésiens est la gardienne de la grande déesse Diane, et de son image descendue du ciel? | Dopo aver calmato la folla, il cancelliere disse: Efesini, chi è mai quell'uomo che non sappia che la città degli Efesini è la custode del tempio della grande dea Diana e della sua immagine caduta da Giove? |
| 36 | Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, ye ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly. | Cela étant donc incontestable, vous devez vous apaiser, et ne rien faire avec précipitation. | Poiché dunque queste cose sono incontestabili, voi dovete restare calmi e non fare nulla di sconsiderato. |
| 37 | For ye have brought hither these men, which are neither robbers of churches, nor yet blasphemers of your goddess. | Car ces gens que vous avez amenés, ne sont ni des voleurs de temples, ni blasphémateurs de votre déesse. | Infatti avete condotto qui questi uomini, che non sono né sacrileghi né bestemmiatori della vostra dea. |
| 38 | Wherefore if Demetrius, and the craftsmen which are with him, have a matter against any man, the law is open, and there are deputies: let them implead one another. | Que si Démétrius et les ouvriers qui sont avec lui, ont quelque plainte à faire contre quelqu'un, il y a des jours d'audience et des proconsuls; qu'ils se fassent citer les uns les autres. | Se dunque Demetrio e gli artigiani che sono con lui hanno qualcosa contro qualcuno, i tribunali sono aperti e vi sono i proconsoli; presenti ognuno le sue accuse. |
| 39 | But if ye enquire any thing concerning other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly. | Et si vous avez quelque autre chose à réclamer, on pourra en décider dans une assemblée légale. | Se poi avete qualche altra richiesta da fare, ciò si risolverà nell'ordinaria assemblea. |
| 40 | For we are in danger to be called in question for this day's uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account of this concourse. | Car nous risquons d'être accusés de sédition pour ce qui s'est passé aujourd'hui, n'ayant aucune raison pour justifier ce rassemblement. | Noi infatti corriamo il rischio di essere accusati di sedizione per l'accaduto di oggi, non essendovi ragione alcuna con cui giustificare questo assembramento. |
