| 9 | Mais, comme quelques-uns restaient endurcis et incrédules, décriant devant la masse la voie du Seigneur, il se sépara d'eux et prit à part les disciples, discourant chaque jour dans l'école d'un [certain] Tyrannus. | But when some were hardened and disobedient, speaking evil of the Way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus. | Ma poiché alcuni si indurivano e persistevano nell'incredulità, parlando male della via in presenza della folla, egli, ritiratosi da loro, separò i discepoli e continuò a discutere ogni giorno nella scuola di un certo Tiranno. |
| 10 | Ce qui dura deux ans, en sorte que tous ceux qui habitaient l'Asie, tant Juifs que Grecs, entendirent la parole du Seigneur. | And this continued for the space of two years; so that all they that dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks. | E questo durò per due anni di modo che tutti gli abitanti dell'Asia, Giudei e Greci, udirono la parola del Signore Gesù. |
| 11 | Et Dieu faisait des miracles extraordinaires par les mains de Paul, | And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: | E Dio faceva prodigi straordinari per le mani di Paolo, |
| 12 | si bien que même (on appliquait) sur les malades des mouchoirs ou des tabliers qui avaient été pris sur son corps, et que les maladies les quittaient, et que les esprits mauvais s'en allaient. | insomuch that unto the sick were carried away from his body handkerchiefs or aprons, and the evil spirits went out. | al punto che si portavano sui malati degli asciugatoi e dei grembiuli che erano stati sul suo corpo, e le malattie si allontanavano da loro e gli spiriti maligni uscivano da loro. |
| 13 | Or quelques-uns aussi des exorcistes juifs ambulants essayèrent d'invoquer le nom du Seigneur Jésus sur ceux qui avaient des esprits mauvais, en disant : "Je vous adjure par le Jésus que Paul prêche." | But certain also of the strolling Jews, exorcists, took upon them to name over them that had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, I adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. | Or alcuni itineranti esorcisti Giudei tentarono di invocare il nome del Signore Gesù su coloro che avevano gli spiriti maligni, dicendo: Vi scongiuriamo per Gesù, che Paolo predica!. |

| 15 | Mais l'esprit mauvais, répliquant, leur dit : "Je connais Jésus et je sais (qui est) Paul; mais vous, qui êtes-vous ?" | And the evil spirit answered and said unto them, Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are ye? | Ma lo spirito maligno rispose e disse: Io conosco Gesù e so chi è Paolo, ma voi chi siete?. |
| 16 | Et l'homme, en qui était l'esprit mauvais, se jetant sur eux, se rendit maître de tous et fut tellement plus fort qu'eux, qu'ils s'enfuirent de cette maison nus et blessés. | And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and mastered both of them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. | Quindi l'uomo che aveva lo spirito maligno si avventò su di loro e, sopraffattili, fece loro tal violenza che fuggirono da quella casa, nudi e feriti. |
| 17 | Et cela fut connu de tous les Juifs et de tous les Grecs qui demeuraient à Ephèse, et la crainte tomba sur eux tous, et le nom du Seigneur Jésus fut magnifié. | And this became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, that dwelt at Ephesus; and fear fell upon them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified. | Or questo fu risaputo da tutti i Giudei e Greci che abitavano ad Efeso, e furono tutti presi da paura, e il nome del Signore Gesù era magnificato. |
| 18 | Beaucoup de ceux qui avaient cru venaient confesser et déclarer leurs pratiques. | Many also of them that had believed came, confessing, and declaring their deeds. | E molti di coloro che avevano creduto venivano a confessare, e a dichiarare le cose che avevano fatto. |
| 19 | Et bon nombre de ceux qui avaient pratiqué la magie, après avoir entassé les livres, les brûlaient devant tous. On en estima la valeur et on trouva (qu'elle était de) cinquante mille pièces d'argent. | And not a few of them that practised magical arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all; and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. | Molti di coloro che avevano esercitato le arti occulte radunarono assieme i libri e li arsero in presenza di tutti, e, calcolatone il prezzo, si trovò che ammontava a cinquantamila pezzi d'argento. |

| 21 | Après que ces choses furent accomplies, Paul résolut en lui-même d'aller à Jérusalem, en passant par la Macédoine et l'Achaïe, disant : "Après que j'aurai été là, il faut que je voie aussi Rome." | Now after these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome. | Dopo questi avvenimenti. Paolo si mise nell'animo di andare a Gerusalemme passando per la Macedonia e per l'Acaia, e diceva: Dopo essere stato lì, bisogna che io veda anche Roma. |
| 22 | Il envoya en Macédoine deux de ses auxiliaires, Timothée et Eraste, et lui-même resta quelque temps en Asie. | And having sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timothy and Erastus, he himself stayed in Asia for a while. | Mandati allora in Macedonia due dei suoi collaboratori, cioè Timoteo ed Erasto, egli si trattenne ancora qualche tempo in Asia. |
| 23 | Or il se fit en ce temps-là un grand tumulte à propos de la voie (du Seigneur). | And about that time there arose no small stir concerning the Way. | Or in quel tempo nacque un grande tumulto in merito alla Via, |
| 24 | Car un nommé Démétrius, orfèvre, qui fabriquait en argent des temples d'Artémis et procurait aux artisans un gain considérable, | For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, who made silver shrines of Diana, brought no little business unto the craftsmen; | perché un tale di nome Demetrio, orafo, che faceva dei templi di Diana in argento, procurava non poco guadagno agli artigiani. |
| 25 | les ayant rassemblés, ainsi que les ouvriers de la partie, dit : "Hommes, vous savez que notre bien-être dépend de cette industrie; | whom he gathered together, with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this business we have our wealth. | Costui li radunò insieme ai lavoratori che avevano un'attività affine, e disse: Uomini, voi sapete che il nostro guadagno proviene da questa attività. |
| 26 | et vous voyez et entendez dire que, non seulement à Ephèse, mais dans presque toute l'Asie, ce Paul a persuadé et détourné une foule de gens, en disant que ce ne sont pas des dieux ceux qui sont faits avec les mains. | And ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they are no gods, that are made with hands: | Or voi vedete e udite che questo Paolo ha persuaso e sviato un gran numero di gente non solo in Efeso, ma in quasi tutta l'Asia, dicendo che non sono dèi quelli costruiti da mano d'uomo. |
| 27 | Il y a danger non seulement pour nous que notre métier tombe dans le discrédit, mais encore que le temple de la grande déesse Artémis soit tenu pour rien, et même que la majesté de celle que révèrent toute l'Asie et le monde entier vienne à être réduite à néant." | and not only is there danger that this our trade come into disrepute; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana be made of no account, and that she should even be deposed from her magnificence whom all Asia and the world worshippeth. | Non solo c'è pericolo per noi che quest'arte particolare venga discreditata, ma che anche il tempio della grande dea Diana non conti più nulla, e che venga spogliata della sua grandezza colei che tutta l'Asia, anzi tutto il mondo, adora. |
| 28 | Ayant entendu (cela) et rendus pleins de colère, ils criaient, disant : Grande est l'Artémis des Ephésiens ! | And when they heard this they were filled with wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesus. | All'udire queste cose, essi si accesero di sdegno e gridarono, dicendo: Grande è la Diana degli Efesini. |
| 29 | Et la ville fut remplie de confusion, et ils se précipitèrent tous ensemble vers le théâtre, entraînant Gaïus et Aristarque, Macédoniens, compagnons de voyage de Paul. | And the city was filled with the confusion: and they rushed with one accord into the theatre, having seized Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul`s companions in travel. | E tutta la città fu ripiena di confusione; e, trascinando con forza Gaio e Aristarco, Macedoni, compagni di viaggio di Paolo, corsero tutti d'accordo al teatro. |
| 30 | Comme Paul voulait pénétrer dans l'assemblée, les disciples ne le lui permirent pas. | And when Paul was minded to enter in unto the people, the disciples suffered him not. | Or Paolo voleva presentarsi al popolo, ma i discepoli non glielo permisero. |
| 31 | Quelques-uns aussi des Asiarques, qui étaient ses amis, envoyèrent vers lui pour le prier de ne pas se risquer au théâtre. | And certain also of the Asiarchs, being his friends, sent unto him and besought him not to adventure himself into the theatre. | Anche alcuni Asiarchi, che gli erano amici, mandarono a pregarlo di non presentarsi al teatro. |
| 32 | Les uns donc criaient d'une manière, les autres d'une autre, car la confusion régnait dans l'assemblée, et la plupart ne savaient pourquoi ils étaient réunis. | Some therefore cried one thing, and some another: for the assembly was in confusion; and the more part knew not wherefore they were come together. | Intanto gli uni gridavano una cosa, gli altri un'altra, tanto che l'adunanza era confusa e i più non sapevano per quale ragione si fossero radunati. |
| 33 | Cependant, de la foule on persuada Alexandre, que les Juifs poussaient en avant; et Alexandre, après avoir fait signe de la main, allait donner des explications à l'assemblée. | And they brought Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander beckoned with the hand, and would have made a defense unto the people. | Allora fu fatto uscire dalla folla Alessandro, spinto avanti dai Giudei. E Alessandro, fatto cenno con la mano, voleva parlare in sua difesa al popolo. |
| 34 | Mais, lorsqu'ils eurent reconnu qu'il était juif, ils crièrent tous d'une seule voix durant environ deux heures : "Grande est l'Artémis des Ephésiens ! " | But when they perceived that he was a Jew, all with one voice about the space of two hours cried out, Great is Diana of the Ephesians. | Ma, quando si resero conto che egli era Giudeo, si misero tutti a gridare a una sola voce per quasi due ore: Grande è la Diana degli Efesini. |
| 35 | Le grammate, ayant (enfin) apaisé la foule, dit : "Ephésiens, quel est bien l'homme qui ne sait pas que la ville d'Ephèse est gardienne du temple de la grande Artémis et de la (statue) tombée du ciel ? | And when the townclerk had quieted the multitude, he saith, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there who knoweth not that the city of the Ephesians is temple-keeper of the great Diana, and of the [image] which fell down from Jupiter? | Dopo aver calmato la folla, il cancelliere disse: Efesini, chi è mai quell'uomo che non sappia che la città degli Efesini è la custode del tempio della grande dea Diana e della sua immagine caduta da Giove? |
| 36 | Cela donc étant incontestable, vous devez vous apaiser et ne rien faire inconsidérément, | Seeing then that these things cannot be gainsaid, ye ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rash. | Poiché dunque queste cose sono incontestabili, voi dovete restare calmi e non fare nulla di sconsiderato. |
| 37 | car ces hommes que vous avez amenés ne sont ni des sacrilèges, ni des blasphémateurs de votre déesse. | For ye have brought [hither] these men, who are neither robbers of temples nor blasphemers of our goddess. | Infatti avete condotto qui questi uomini, che non sono né sacrileghi né bestemmiatori della vostra dea. |
| 38 | Que si Démétrius et les artisans à son service ont à se plaindre de quelqu'un, il se tient des audiences et il y a des proconsuls : qu'ils se citent en justice les uns les autres. | If therefore Demetrius, and the craftsmen that are with him, have a matter against any man, the courts are open, and there are proconsuls: let them accuse one another. | Se dunque Demetrio e gli artigiani che sono con lui hanno qualcosa contro qualcuno, i tribunali sono aperti e vi sono i proconsoli; presenti ognuno le sue accuse. |
| 39 | Si vous avez quelque autre réclamation, on en décidera dans l'assemblée légale. | But if ye seek anything about other matters, it shall be settled in the regular assembly. | Se poi avete qualche altra richiesta da fare, ciò si risolverà nell'ordinaria assemblea. |
| 40 | Nous courons risque, en effet, d'être accusés de sédition pour aujourd'hui, car il n'existe aucun motif qui nous permette de justifier cet attroupement." | For indeed we are in danger to be accused concerning this day`s riot, there being no cause [for it]: and as touching it we shall not be able to give account of this concourse. | Noi infatti corriamo il rischio di essere accusati di sedizione per l'accaduto di oggi, non essendovi ragione alcuna con cui giustificare questo assembramento. |
