| 5 | Mais les Juifs, pleins de jalousie, ayant pris quelques méchants hommes de la populace, et ayant fait un amas de peuple, troublèrent la ville, et ayant assailli la maison de Jason, ils cherchèrent Paul et Silas pour les amener au peuple. | But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people. | Ma i Giudei che non avevano creduto, mossi da invidia, presero con loro certi uomini malvagi tra la gente di piazza e, radunata una plebaglia, misero in subbuglio la città, avendo poi assalita la casa di Giasone, cercavano Paolo e Sila per condurli davanti al popolo. |
| 6 | Mais ne les ayant pas trouvés, ils traînèrent Jason et quelques frères devant les magistrats de la ville, en criant: Ces gens qui ont bouleversé la terre habitée, sont aussi venus ici; | And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also; | Ma, non avendoli trovati, trascinarono Giasone e alcuni dei fratelli davanti ai capi della città, gridando: Quelli che hanno messo sottosopra il mondo sono venuti anche qua, |
| 7 | et Jason les a reçus chez lui, et ils contreviennent tous aux ordonnances de César, disant qu'il y a un autre roi, Jésus. | Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus. | e Giasone li ha accolti; tutti costoro agiscono contro gli statuti di Cesare, dicendo che c'è un altro re, cioè Gesù. |
| 8 | Et la foule et les magistrats de la ville, qui entendaient ces choses, furent troublés. | And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things. | Così misero in agitazione il popolo e i capi della città, che udivano queste cose. |

| 10 | Et aussitôt les frères envoyèrent Paul et Silas, de nuit, à Bérée, lesquels étant arrivés, entrèrent dans la synagogue des Juifs. | And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. | Allora i fratelli fecero subito partire di notte Paolo e Sila per Berea ed essi, appena vi giunsero, entrarono nella sinagoga dei Giudei. |
| 11 | Or ceux-ci étaient plus nobles que ceux de Thessalonique; et ils reçurent la parole avec toute bonne volonté, examinant chaque jour les écritures pour voir si les choses étaient ainsi. | These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. | Or costoro erano di sentimenti più nobili di quelli di Tessalonica e ricevettero la parola con tutta prontezza, esaminando ogni giorno le Scritture per vedere se queste cose stavano così. |
| 12 | Plusieurs donc d'entre eux crurent, et des femmes grecques de qualité et des hommes aussi, en assez grand nombre. | Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few. | Così molti di loro credettero assieme a un non piccolo numero di nobili donne greche e di uomini. |
| 13 | Mais quand les Juifs de Thessalonique surent que la parole de Dieu était annoncée par Paul à Bérée, ils y vinrent aussi, agitant les foules. | But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the people. | Ma, quando i Giudei di Tessalonica vennero a sapere che la parola di Dio era stata annunziata da Paolo anche a Berea, andarono pure là, mettendo in agitazione le folle. |
| 14 | Mais alors les frères renvoyèrent aussitôt Paul, comme pour aller à la mer; mais Silas et Timothée demeurèrent encore là. | And then immediately the brethren sent away Paul to go as it were to the sea: but Silas and Timotheus abode there still. | Allora i fratelli fecero subito partire Paolo in direzione del mare, ma Sila e Timoteo rimasero là. |
| 15 | Et ceux qui conduisaient Paul le menèrent jusqu'à Athènes; et après avoir reçu pour Silas et pour Timothée l'ordre de le rejoindre au plus tôt, ils partirent. | And they that conducted Paul brought him unto Athens: and receiving a commandment unto Silas and Timotheus for to come to him with all speed, they departed. | Quelli che scortavano Paolo lo condussero fino ad Atene; poi, ricevuto da lui l'incarico di dire a Sila e a Timoteo di raggiungerlo quanto prima, tornarono indietro. |
| 16 | Et comme Paul les attendait à Athènes, son esprit était excité au dedans de lui, en voyant la ville remplie d'idoles. | Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry. | Ora, mentre Paolo li aspettava ad Atene, il suo spirito s'inacerbiva in lui, vedendo la città piena di idoli. |
| 17 | Il discourait donc dans la synagogue avec les Juifs et avec ceux qui servaient Dieu, et tous les jours sur la place publique avec ceux qui s'y rencontraient. | Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him. | Egli dunque discuteva nella sinagoga con i Giudei e con le persone pie, e ogni giorno sulla piazza con quelli che incontrava. |
| 18 | Et quelques-uns aussi des philosophes épicuriens et des philosophes stoïciens s'en prirent à lui; et les uns disaient: Que veut dire ce discoureur? et d'autres: Il semble annoncer des divinités étrangères; parce qu'il leur annonçait Jésus et la résurrection. | Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection. | Con lui discutevano pure alcuni filosofi epicurei, e stoici. Alcuni dicevano: Che vuol dire questo cianciatore?. E gli altri: Egli pare essere un annunziatore di divinità straniere, perché annunziava loro Gesù e la risurrezione. |
| 19 | Et l'ayant pris, ils le menèrent à l'Aréopage, disant: Pourrions-nous savoir quelle est cette nouvelle doctrine dont tu parles? | And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine, whereof thou speakest, is? | Così lo presero e lo condussero nell'Areopago, dicendo: Potremmo sapere qual è questa nuova dottrina che tu proponi? |
| 20 | car tu nous fais entendre certaines choses étranges; nous voudrions donc savoir ce que veulent dire ces choses. | For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean. | Poiché tu rechi cose strane ai nostri orecchi, vogliamo dunque sapere che cosa significano queste cose. |
| 21 | Or tous les Athéniens et les étrangers séjournant à Athènes, ne passaient leur temps à autre chose qu'à dire ou à ouïr quelque nouvelle. | (For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.) | Or tutti gli Ateniesi e i forestieri che dimoravano in quella città non avevano passatempo migliore che quello di dire o ascoltare qualche novità. |
| 22 | Mais Paul, se tenant au milieu de l'Aréopage, dit: Hommes athéniens, je vois qu'en toutes choses vous êtes voués au culte des démons; | Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious. | Allora Paolo, stando in piedi in mezzo all'Areopago, disse: Ateniesi, io vi trovo in ogni cosa fin troppo religiosi. |
| 23 | car, en passant et en contemplant les objets de votre culte, j'ai trouvé aussi un autel sur lequel était inscrit: Au dieu inconnu! Celui donc que vous honorez sans le connaître, c'est celui que moi je vous annonce. | For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you. | Poiché, passando in rassegna e osservando gli oggetti del vostro culto, ho trovato anche un altare sul quale era scritto: AL DIO SCONOSCIUTO. | 25 | et il n'est pas servi par des mains d'hommes, comme s'il avait besoin de quelque chose, lui qui donne à tous la vie et la respiration et toutes choses; | Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; | e non è servito dalle mani di uomini come se avesse bisogno di qualcosa, essendo lui che dà a tutti la vita, il fiato e ogni cosa; |
| 26 | et il a fait d'un seul sang toutes les races des hommes pour habiter sur toute la face de la terre, ayant déterminé les temps ordonnés et les bornes de leur habitation, | And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; | or egli ha tratto da uno solo tutte le stirpi degli uomini, perché abitassero sopra tutta la faccia della terra, avendo determinato le epoche prestabilite e i confini della loro abitazione, |
| 27 | pour qu'ils cherchent Dieu, s'ils pourraient en quelque sorte le toucher en tâtonnant et le trouver, quoiqu'il ne soit pas loin de chacun de nous; | That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: | affinché cercassero il Signore, se mai riuscissero a trovarlo come a tastoni, benché egli non sia lontano da ognuno di noi. |
| 28 | car en lui nous vivons et nous nous mouvons et nous sommes, comme aussi quelques-uns de vos poètes ont dit: "Car aussi nous sommes sa race". | For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. | Poiché in lui viviamo, ci muoviamo e siamo, come persino alcuni dei vostri poeti hanno detto: "Poiché siamo anche sua progenie". |
| 29 | Étant donc la race de Dieu, nous ne devons pas penser que la divinité soit semblable à de l'or, ou à de l'argent, ou à de la pierre, à une oeuvre sculptée de l'art et de l'imagination de l'homme. | Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device. | Essendo dunque noi progenie di Dio, non dobbiamo stimare che la deità sia simile all'oro o all'argento o alla pietra o alla scultura d'arte e d'invenzione umana. |
| 30 | Dieu donc, ayant passé par-dessus les temps de l'ignorance, ordonne maintenant aux hommes que tous, en tous lieux, ils se repentent; | And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: | Ma ora, passando sopra ai tempi dell'ignoranza, Dio comanda a tutti gli uomini e dappertutto che si ravvedano. |
| 31 | parce qu'il a établi un jour auquel il doit juger en justice la terre habitée, par l'homme qu'il a destinée à cela, de quoi il a donné une preuve certaine à tous, l'ayant ressuscité d'entre les morts. | Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. | Poiché egli ha stabilito un giorno in cui giudicherà il mondo con giustizia, per mezzo di quell'uomo che egli ha stabilito; e ne ha dato prova a tutti, risuscitandolo dai morti. |
| 32 | Mais quand ils ouïrent parler de la résurrection des morts, les uns s'en moquaient, et les autres disaient: Nous t'entendrons encore sur ce sujet. | And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter. | Quando sentirono parlare di risurrezione dei morti, alcuni lo beffavano, altri dicevano: Su questo argomento ti ascolteremo un'altra volta. |
| 33 | Ainsi Paul sortit du milieu d'eux. | So Paul departed from among them. | Così Paolo uscì di mezzo a loro. |
| 34 | Mais quelques hommes se joignirent à lui et crurent, entre lesquels aussi était Denys, l'Aréopagite, et une femme nommée Damaris, et d'autres avec eux. | Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them. | Ma alcuni si unirono a lui e credettero fra i quali anche Dionigi l'areopagita, una donna di nome Damaris e altri con loro. |
