| 13 | Et le jour du sabbat, nous sortîmes hors de la porte et nous nous rendîmes au bord du fleuve, où l'on avait coutume de faire la prière; et, nous étant assis, nous parlions aux femmes qui étaient assemblées. | And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither. | Il giorno di sabato andammo fuori città lungo il fiume, dove era il luogo ordinario della preghiera; e, postici a sedere, parlavamo alle donne che erano là radunate. |
| 14 | Et une femme nommée Lydie, marchande de pourpre de la ville de Thyatire, qui servait Dieu, écoutait; et le Seigneur lui ouvrit le coeur pour qu'elle fût attentive aux choses que Paul disait. | And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul. | E una donna di nome Lidia, commerciante di porpora, della città di Tiatira, che adorava Dio, stava ad ascoltare. E il Signore aprì il suo cuore per dare ascolto alle cose dette da Paolo. |
| 15 | Et après qu'elle eut été baptisée ainsi que sa maison, elle nous pria, disant: Si vous jugez que je suis fidèle au Seigneur, entrez dans ma maison, et demeurez-y. Et elle nous y contraignit. | And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us. | Dopo essere stata battezzata con la sua famiglia, ci pregò dicendo: Se mi avete giudicata fedele al Signore, entrate e rimanete in casa mia. E ci costrinse ad accettare. |
| 16 | Or il arriva que, comme nous allions à la prière, une servante qui avait un esprit de python et qui, en prophétisant, procurait à ses maîtres un grand gain, vint au-devant de nous. | And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: | Ora, mentre andavamo al luogo della preghiera, ci venne incontro una giovane schiava che aveva uno spirito di divinazione e che, facendo l'indovina, procurava molto guadagno ai suoi padroni. |
| 17 | Et marchant après Paul et nous, elle criait, disant: Ces hommes sont les esclaves du Dieu Très-haut, qui vous annoncent la voie du salut. | The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation. | Costei, messasi a seguire Paolo e noi, gridava, dicendo: Questi uomini sono servi del Dio Altissimo e vi annunziano la via della salvezza. |
| 18 | Et elle fit cela pendant plusieurs jours. Mais Paul, affligé, se retourna et dit à l'esprit: Je te commande au nom de Jésus Christ de sortir d'elle. Et à l'heure même il sortit. | And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour. | Ed essa fece questo per molti giorni; ma Paolo, infastidito, si voltò e disse allo spirito: Io ti comando nel nome di Gesù Cristo di uscire da lei. E lo spirito uscì in quell'istante. |
| 19 | Mais ses maîtres, voyant que l'espérance de leur gain s'en était allée, ayant saisi Paul et Silas les traînèrent dans la place publique devant les magistrats. | And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers, | Ora i padroni di lei, vedendo che la speranza del loro guadagno era svanita, presero Paolo e Sila e li trascinarono sulla piazza del mercato davanti ai magistrati; |
| 20 | Et les ayant présentés aux préteurs, ils dirent: Ces hommes-ci, qui sont Juifs mettent tout en trouble dans notre ville | And brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city, | e, presentatili ai pretori, dissero: Questi uomini, che sono Giudei, turbano la nostra città, |
| 21 | et annoncent des coutumes qu'il ne nous est pas permis de recevoir ni de pratiquer, à nous qui sommes Romains. | And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans. | e predicano usanze, che a noi che siamo Romani, non è lecito di accettare o di osservare. |
| 22 | Et la foule se souleva ensemble contre eux; et les prêteurs, leur ayant fait arracher leurs vêtements, donnèrent l'ordre de les fouetter. | And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them. | Allora la folla insorse tutta insieme contro di loro; e i pretori, strappate loro le vesti, comandarono che fossero frustati. |
| 23 | Et leur ayant fait donner un grand nombre de coups, ils les jetèrent en prison, en commandant au geôlier de les garder sûrement. | And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely: | E, dopo averli battuti con molti colpi, li gettarono in prigione, comandando al carceriere di tenerli al sicuro. |
| 24 | Celui-ci, ayant reçu un tel ordre, les jeta dans la prison intérieure et attacha sûrement leurs pieds au poteau. | Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks. | Questi, ricevuto un tale ordine, li gettò nella parte più interna della prigione e fissò i loro piedi ai ceppi. |
| 25 | Or sur le minuit, Paul et Silas, en priant, chantaient les louanges de Dieu; et les prisonniers les écoutaient. | And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. | Verso la mezzanotte Paolo e Sila pregavano e cantavano inni a Dio; e i prigionieri li udivano. |
| 26 | Et tout d'un coup il se fit un grand tremblement de terre, de sorte que les fondements de la prison furent ébranlés; et incontinent toutes les portes s'ouvrirent, et les liens de tous furent détachés. | And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed. | Improvvisamente si fece un gran terremoto tanto che le fondamenta della prigione furono scosse: e in quell'istante tutte le porte si aprirono e le catene di tutti si sciolsero. |
| 27 | Et le geôlier, s'étant éveillé et voyant les portes de la prison ouvertes, tira son épée et allait se tuer, croyant que les prisonniers s'étaient enfuis. | And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. | Il carceriere, destatosi e viste le porte della prigione spalancate, trasse fuori la spada e stava per uccidersi, pensando che i prigionieri fossero fuggiti. |
| 28 | Paul cria à haute voix, disant: Ne te fais point de mal, car nous sommes tous ici. | But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. | Ma Paolo gridò ad alta voce: Non farti alcun male, perché noi siamo tutti qui. |
| 29 | Et ayant demandé de la lumière, le geôlier s'élança dans la prison, et tout tremblant il se jeta aux pieds de Paul et de Silas. | Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, | E, chiesto un lume, egli corse dentro, e tutto tremante si gettò ai piedi di Paolo e Sila; |
| 30 | Et les ayant menés dehors, il dit: Seigneurs, que faut-il que je fasse pour être sauvé? | And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? | poi li condusse fuori e disse: Signori, cosa devo fare per essere salvato?. |
| 31 | Et ils dirent: Crois au Seigneur Jésus, et tu seras sauvé, toi et ta maison. | And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. | Ed essi dissero: Credi nel Signore Gesù Cristo, e sarai salvato tu e la casa tua. |
| 32 | Et ils lui annoncèrent la parole du Seigneur, ainsi qu'à tous ceux qui étaient dans sa maison. | And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. | Poi essi annunziarono la parola del Signore a lui e a tutti coloro che erano in casa sua. |
| 33 | Et il les prit en cette même heure de la nuit, et lava leurs plaies; et sur-le-champ il fut baptisé, lui et tous les siens. | And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. | Ed egli li prese in quella stessa ora della notte e lavò loro le piaghe. E lui e tutti i suoi furono subito battezzati. |
| 34 | Et il les fit monter dans sa maison, et fit dresser une table; et croyant Dieu, il se réjouit avec toute sa maison. | And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house. | Condottili quindi in casa sua, apparecchiò loro la tavola e si rallegrava con tutta la sua famiglia di aver creduto in Dio. |
| 35 | Et le jour étant venu, les préteurs envoyèrent les licteurs, disant: Relâche ces hommes. | And when it was day, the magistrates sent the serjeants, saying, Let those men go. | Fattosi giorno i pretori mandarono i littori a dire al carceriere: Lascia liberi quegli uomini. |
| 36 | Et le geôlier rapporta ces paroles à Paul, disant: Les préteurs ont envoyé afin que vous soyez relâchés; sortez donc maintenant, et allez-vous-en en paix. | And the keeper of the prison told this saying to Paul, The magistrates have sent to let you go: now therefore depart, and go in peace. | E il carceriere riferì a Paolo queste parole: I pretori hanno mandato a dire che siate lasciati liberi; quindi uscite e andate in pace. |
| 37 | Mais Paul leur dit: Après nous avoir fait battre publiquement, sans que nous fussions condamnés, nous qui sommes Romains, ils nous ont jetés en prison; et maintenant ils nous mettent dehors en secret! Non certes, mais qu'ils viennent eux-mêmes et qu'ils nous mènent dehors! | But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out. | Ma Paolo disse loro: Dopo averci pubblicamente battuti senza essere stati condannati in giudizio, noi che siamo cittadini romani, ci hanno gettati in prigione e ora ci fanno uscire di nascosto? No davvero! Vengano loro stessi a condurci fuori. |
| 38 | Les licteurs rapportèrent ces paroles aux préteurs; et ils eurent peur, ayant appris qu'ils étaient Romains. | And the serjeants told these words unto the magistrates: and they feared, when they heard that they were Romans. | I littori riferirono queste parole ai pretori; ed essi, quando udirono che erano cittadini romani, ebbero paura. |
| 39 | Et ils vinrent et les prièrent de se rendre à leur voeu, et les ayant menés dehors, leur demandèrent de sortir de la ville. | And they came and besought them, and brought them out, and desired them to depart out of the city. | Or essi vennero e li pregarono di scusarli e, condottili fuori, chiesero loro di lasciare la città. |
| 40 | Et étant sortis de la prison, ils entrèrent chez Lydie; et ayant vu les frères, ils les exhortèrent et partirent. | And they went out of the prison, and entered into the house of Lydia: and when they had seen the brethren, they comforted them, and departed. | Allora essi, usciti di prigione, entrarono in casa di Lidia e, visti i fratelli, li consolarono; poi partirono. |
