| 5 | Mais se levèrent quelques-uns de la secte des Pharisiens qui avaient cru, disant qu'il fallait circoncire (les Gentils) et leur enjoindre d'observer la loi de Moïse. | But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees who believed, saying, It is needful to circumcise them, and to charge them to keep the law of Moses. |
| 6 | Les apôtres et les Anciens s'assemblèrent pour examiner cette affaire. | And the apostles and the elders were gathered together to consider of this matter. |
| 7 | A la suite d'une longue discussion, Pierre se leva et leur dit : "Frères, vous savez que Dieu, il y a longtemps déjà, a fait son choix parmi vous, afin que, par ma bouche, les Gentils entendissent la parole de l'Evangile et devinssent croyants. | And when there had been much questioning, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Brethren, ye know that a good while ago God made choice among you, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. |
| 8 | Et Dieu, qui connaît les coeurs, a témoigné en leur faveur, en leur donnant l'Esprit-Saint tout comme à nous; | And God, who knoweth the heart, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Spirit, even as he did unto us; |
| 9 | et il n'a fait aucune différence entre nous et eux, ayant purifié leurs coeurs par la foi. | and he made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith. |
| 10 | Pourquoi donc provoquez-vous Dieu maintenant, en imposant aux disciples un joug que ni nos pères ni nous n'avons pu porter ? | Now therefore why make ye trial of God, that ye should put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? |
| 11 | Mais c'est par la grâce du Seigneur Jésus-Christ que nous croyons être sauvés, de la même manière qu'eux." | But we believe that we shall be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in like manner as they. |
| 12 | Toute l'assemblée se tut; et l'on écoutait Barnabé et Paul, qui racontaient tous les miracles et les prodiges que Dieu avait faits par eux chez les Gentils. | And all the multitude kept silence; and they hearkened unto Barnabas and Paul rehearsing what signs and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles through them. |

| 16 | Après cela je reviendrai, et je rebâtirai la tente de David qui est tombée; je rebâtirai ses ruines et je la redresserai, | After these things I will return, And I will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen; And I will build again the ruins thereof, And I will set it up: |
| 17 | afin que le reste des hommes recherchent le Seigneur, ainsi que toutes les nations sur lesquelles mon nom a été invoqué, dit le Seigneur, | That the residue of men may seek after the Lord, And all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, |
| 18 | qui fait ces choses éternellement connues de lui. | Saith the Lord, who maketh these things known from of old. |
| 19 | C'est pourquoi je suis d'avis qu'on n'inquiète pas ceux d'entre les Gentils qui se convertissent à Dieu, | Wherefore my judgment is, that we trouble not them that from among the Gentiles turn to God; |
| 20 | mais qu'on leur mande de s'abstenir des souillures des idoles, de la fornication, des viandes étouffées et du sang. | but that we write unto them, that they abstain from the pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from what is strangled, and from blood. |
| 21 | Car, depuis les générations anciennes, Moïse a dans chaque ville des hommes qui le prêchent, puisqu'on le lit chaque sabbat dans les synagogues." | For Moses from generations of old hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath. |
| 22 | Alors il parut bon aux apôtres et aux Anciens, ainsi qu'à toute la communauté, de choisir quelques-uns d'entre eux pour les envoyer à Antioche avec Paul et Barnabé; (on choisit) Jude, surnommé Barsabbas, et Silas, Hommes de premier rang parmi les frères, | Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men out of their company, and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; [namely], Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren: |

| 25 | après nous être mis en accord unanime, de choisir des hommes et de vous les envoyer avec nos bien-aimés Barnabé et Paul, | it seemed good unto us, having come to one accord, to choose out men and send them unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, |
| 26 | hommes qui ont exposé leur vie pour le nom de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ. | men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. |
| 27 | Nous avons donc député Jude et Silas, qui vous rapporteront de vive voix les mêmes choses. | We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who themselves also shall tell you the same things by word of mouth. |
| 28 | Il a paru bon au Saint-Esprit et à nous de ne vous imposer aucun autre fardeau que ces choses nécessaires : | For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things: |
| 29 | vous abstenir des viandes offertes aux idoles, du sang, des viandes étouffées et de la fornication. En vous gardant de ces choses, vous ferez bien. Portez-vous bien. | that ye abstain from things sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication; from which if ye keep yourselves, it shall be well with you. Fare ye well. |
| 30 | Eux donc, congé leur ayant été donné, descendirent à Antioche et assemblèrent la masse (des fidèles), (auxquels) ils remirent la lettre. | So they, when they were dismissed, came down to Antioch; and having gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle. |
| 31 | On en fit lecture et on se réjouit de la consolation (qu'elle apportait). | And when they had read it, they rejoiced for the consolation. |
| 32 | Jude et Silas, qui étaient aussi prophètes, encouragèrent les frères par de nombreux discours et les affermirent. | And Judas and Silas, being themselves also prophets, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them. |
| 33 | Après un séjour de quelque temps, ils furent congédiés par les frères avec (le souhait de) paix vers ceux qui les avaient envoyés. | And after they had spent some time [there], they were dismissed in peace from the brethren unto those that had sent them forth. |

| 35 | Quant à Paul et Barnabé, ils demeuraient à Antioche, enseignant et prêchant avec plusieurs autres la parole du Seigneur. | But Paul and Barnabas tarried in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also. |
| 36 | Au bout de quelques jours, Paul dit à Barnabé : "Retournons donc visiter les frères dans chacune des villes où nous avons annoncé la parole du Seigneur, (pour voir) comment ils vont." | And after some days Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us return now and visit the brethren in every city wherein we proclaimed the word of the Lord, [and see] how they fare. |
| 37 | Barnabé voulait amener aussi Jean, appelé Marc; | And Barnabas was minded to take with them John also, who was called Mark. |
| 38 | mais Paul jugeait bon de ne pas emmener celui qui les avait quittés depuis la Pamphylie et qui n'avait pas été à l'oeuvre avec eux. | But Paul thought not good to take with them him who withdrew from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work. |
| 39 | Il y eut (entre eux) un tel dissentiment qu'ils se séparèrent l'un de l'autre et que Barnabé, prenant Marc, s'embarqua pour Chypre. | And there arose a sharp contention, so that they parted asunder one from the other, and Barnabas took Mark with him, and sailed away unto Cyprus; |
| 40 | Paul, après avoir fait choix de Silas, partit, recommandé par les frères à la grâce du Seigneur. | but Paul choose Silas, and went forth, being commended by the brethren to the grace of the Lord. |
| 41 | Il parcourut la Syrie et la Cilicie, affermissant les églises. | And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches. |
