| 3 | Disant: tu es entré chez des hommes incirconcis, et tu as mangé avec eux. | saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them. |
| 4 | Alors Pierre commençant leur exposa le tout par ordre, disant: | But Peter began, and expounded [the matter] unto them in order, saying, |
| 5 | J'étais en prière dans la ville de Joppe, et étant ravi en esprit, je vis une vision, savoir un vaisseau comme un grand linceul, qui descendait du ciel, lié par les quatre bouts, et qui vint jusqu'à moi. | I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, a certain vessel descending, as it were a great sheet let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even unto me: |
| 6 | Dans lequel ayant jeté les yeux, j'y aperçus et j y vis des animaux terrestres à quatre pieds, des bêtes sauvages, des reptiles, et des oiseaux du ciel. | upon which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw the fourfooted beasts of the earth and wild beasts and creeping things and birds of the heaven. |
| 7 | J'ouïs aussi une voix qui me dit: Pierre, lève-toi, tue, et mange. | And I heard also a voice saying unto me, Rise, Peter; kill and eat. |
| 8 | Et je répondis: je n'ai garde, Seigneur! car jamais chose immonde, ou souillée, n'entra dans ma bouche. | But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath ever entered into my mouth. |
| 9 | Et la voix me répondit encore du ciel: ce que Dieu a purifié, ne le tiens point pour souillé. | But a voice answered the second time out of heaven, What God hath cleansed, make not thou common. |
| 10 | Et cela se fit jusqu'à trois fois; et puis toutes ces choses furent retirées au ciel. | And this was done thrice: and all were drawn up again into heaven. |
| 11 | Et voici, en ce même instant trois hommes, qui avaient été envoyés de Césarée vers moi, se présentèrent à la maison où j'étais; | And behold, forthwith three men stood before the house in which we were, having been sent from Caesarea unto me. |
| 12 | Et l'Esprit me dit que j'allasse avec eux, sans en faire difficulté; et ces six frères-ci vinrent aussi avec moi, et nous entrâmes dans la maison de cet homme. | And the Spirit bade me go with them, making no distinction. And these six brethren also accompanied me; and we entered into the man`s house: |
| 13 | Et il nous raconta comme il avait vu dans sa maison un Ange qui s'était présenté à lui, et qui lui avait dit: envoie des gens à Joppe, et fais venir Simon qui est surnommé Pierre; | and he told us how he had seen the angel standing in his house, and saying, Send to Joppa, and fetch Simon, whose surname is Peter; |
| 14 | Qui te dira des choses par lesquelles tu seras sauvé, toi, et toute ta maison. | who shall speak unto thee words, whereby thou shalt be saved, thou and all thy house. |
| 15 | Et quand j'eus commencé à parler, le Saint-Esprit descendit sur eux, comme aussi il était descendu sur nous au commencement. | And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them, even as on us at the beginning. |
| 16 | Alors je me souvins de cette parole du Seigneur, et comment il avait dit: Jean a baptisé d'eau, mais vous serez baptisés du Saint-Esprit. | And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit. |
| 17 | Puis donc que Dieu leur a accordé un pareil don qu'à nous qui avons cru au Seigneur Jésus-Christ, qui étais-je moi, qui pusse m'opposer à Dieu? | If then God gave unto them the like gift as [he did] also unto us, when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I, that I could withstand God? |
| 18 | Alors ayant ouï ces choses, ils s'apaisèrent, et ils glorifièrent Dieu, en disant: Dieu a donc donné aussi aux Gentils la repentance pour avoir la vie. | And when they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then to the Gentiles also hath God granted repentance unto life. |
| 19 | Or quant à ceux qui avaient été dispersés par la persécution excitée à l'occasion d'Etienne, ils passèrent jusqu'en Phénicie, et en Cypre, et à Antioche, sans annoncer la parole à personne qu'aux Juifs seulement. | They therefore that were scattered abroad upon the tribulation that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phoenicia, and Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word to none save only to Jews. |
| 20 | Mais il y en eut quelques-uns d'entre eux, Cypriens, et Cyréniens, qui étant entrés dans Antioche, parlaient aux Grecs, annonçant le Seigneur Jésus. | But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Greeks also, preaching the Lord Jesus. |
| 21 | Et la main du Seigneur était avec eux; tellement qu'un grand nombre ayant cru, fut converti au Seigneur. | And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number that believed turned unto the Lord. |
| 22 | Et le bruit en vint aux oreilles de l'Eglise qui était à Jérusalem: c'est pourquoi ils envoyèrent Barnabas pour passer à Antioche. | And the report concerning them came to the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas as far as Antioch: |
| 23 | Lequel y étant arrivé, et ayant vu la grâce de Dieu, il s'en réjouit; et il les exhortait tous de demeurer attachés au Seigneur de tout leur coeur. | who, when he was come, and had seen the grace of God, was glad; and he exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord: |
| 24 | Car il était homme de bien, et plein du Saint-Esprit, et de foi; et un grand nombre de personnes se joignirent au Seigneur. | for he was a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord. |
| 25 | Puis Barnabas s'en alla à Tarse, pour chercher Saul. | And he went forth to Tarsus to seek for Saul; |
| 26 | Et l'ayant trouvé il le mena à Antioche; et il arriva que durant un an tout entier, ils s'assemblèrent avec l'Eglise, et enseignèrent un grand peuple, de sorte que ce fut premièrement à Antioche que les disciples furent nommés Chrétiens. | and when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that even for a whole year they were gathered together with the church, and taught much people, and that the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. |
| 27 | Or en ces jours-là quelques Prophètes descendirent de Jérusalem à Antioche. | Now in these days there came down prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch. |
| 28 | Et l'un d'eux, nommé Agabus, se leva, et déclara par l'Esprit, qu'une grande famine devait arriver dans tout le monde; et, en effet, elle arriva sous Claude César. | And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be a great famine over all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius. |
| 29 | Et les disciples, chacun selon son pouvoir, déterminèrent d'envoyer quelque chose pour subvenir aux frères qui demeuraient en Judée. | And the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren that dwelt in Judea: |
| 30 | Ce qu'ils firent aussi, l'envoyant aux Anciens par les mains de Barnabas et de Saul. | which also they did, sending it to the elders by the hand of Barnabas and Saul. |
