There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,Now [there was] a certain man in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of the band called the Italian [band],Or vi era in Cesarea un certo uomo di nome Cornelio, centurione della coorte, detta Italica;
A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.a devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, who gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always.egli era un uomo pio e timorato di Dio con tutta la sua casa, faceva molte elemosine al popolo e pregava Dio del continuo.
He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.He saw in a vision openly, as it were about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming in unto him, and saying to him, Cornelius.
And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.And he, fastening his eyes upon him, and being affrighted, said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are gone up for a memorial before God.Ed egli, guardandolo fisso e tutto spaventato, disse: Che c'è, Signore?. Allora l'angelo gli disse: Le tue preghiere e le tue elemosine sono salite davanti a Dio, come una ricordanza;
And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:And now send men to Joppa, and fetch one Simon, who is surnamed Peter:or dunque manda degli uomini a Ioppe e fa' chiamare Simone, soprannominato Pietro.
He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.he lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side.
And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;And when the angel that spake unto him was departed, he called two of his household-servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;Appena l'angelo che gli parlava se ne fu andato, Cornelio chiamò due dei suoi domestici e un soldato fidato, di quelli addetti al suo personale servizio
And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.and having rehearsed all things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.raccontò loro ogni cosa e li mandò a Ioppe.
On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:Now on the morrow, as they were on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour:Il giorno seguente, mentre essi erano in cammino e si avvicinavano alla città, Pietro salì sul terrazzo della casa, verso l'ora sesta per pregare.
And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,and he became hungry, and desired to eat: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance;Or gli venne fame e desiderava prendere cibo; e mentre quelli di casa glielo preparavano, fu rapito in estasi;
And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:and he beholdeth the heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending, as it were a great sheet, let down by four corners upon the earth:e vide il cielo aperto e scendere verso di lui un oggetto simile ad un gran lenzuolo, tenuto ai quattro capi e che veniva calato a terra.
Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts and creeping things of the earth and birds of the heaven.dentro il quale vi erano tutte le specie di quadrupedi, di fiere, di rettili terrestri e di uccelli del cielo.
And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill and eat.E una voce gli disse: Pietro, alzati, ammazza e mangia!.
But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common and unclean.
And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.And a voice [came] unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, make not thou common.E la voce gli disse per la seconda volta: Le cose che Dio ha purificate, tu non farle impure.
This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.And this was done thrice: and straightway the vessel was received up into heaven.
Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate,Now while Peter was much perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men that were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon`s house, stood before the gate,E, come Pietro si chiedeva perplesso che cosa potesse significare la visione che aveva avuto, ecco che gli uomini mandati da Cornelio, informatisi della casa di Simone, si presentarono alla porta.
And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.and called and asked whether Simon, who was surnamed Peter, were lodging there.E, chiamato qualcuno, domandarono se Simone, soprannominato Pietro, si trovasse lì.
While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.And while Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.
Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.But arise, and get thee down, and go with them, nothing doubting: for I have sent them.
Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?And Peter went down to the men, and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?
And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.And they said, Cornelius a centurion, a righteous man and one that feareth God, and well reported of by all the nation of the Jews, was warned [of God] by a holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words from thee.
Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.So he called them in and lodged them. And on the morrow he arose and went forth with them, and certain of the brethren from Joppa accompanied him.
And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends.And on the morrow they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his kinsmen and his near friends.Il giorno dopo entrarono in Cesarea. Or Cornelio li stava aspettando e aveva radunato i suoi parenti e i suoi intimi amici.
And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.And when it came to pass that Peter entered, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.But Peter raised him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.
And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.And as he talked with him, he went in, and findeth many come together:E, conversando con lui, entrò e trovò molte persone radunate.
And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.and he said unto them, Ye yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to join himself or come unto one of another nation; and [yet] unto me hath God showed that I should not call any man common or unclean:Ed egli disse loro: Voi sapete come non è lecito a un Giudeo associarsi a uno straniero, o entrare in casa sua; ma Dio mi ha mostrato di non chiamare nessun uomo impuro o contaminato.
Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?wherefore also I came without gainsaying, when I was sent for. I ask therefore with what intent ye sent for me.Perciò, appena sono stato invitato a venire, sono venuto senza obiettare. Ora vi domando: per quale motivo mi avete mandato a chiamare?.
And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,And Cornelius said, Four days ago, until this hour, I was keeping the ninth hour of prayer in my house; and behold, a man stood before me in bright apparel,E Cornelio rispose: Quattro giorni fa avevo digiunato fino a quest'ora, e all'ora nona pregavo in casa mia, quand'ecco un uomo si presentò davanti a me in veste risplendente,
And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.and saith, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.e disse: "Cornelio, la tua preghiera è stata esaudita e le tue elemosine sono state ricordate davanti a Dio.
Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.Send therefore to Joppa, and call unto thee Simon, who is surnamed Peter; he lodgeth in the house of Simon a tanner, by the sea side.
Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.Forthwith therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God, to hear all things that have been commanded thee of the Lord.
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:And Peter opened his mouth and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:Allora Pietro, aperta la bocca disse: In verità io comprendo che Dio non usa alcuna parzialità;
But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.but in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is acceptable to him.ma in qualunque nazione chi lo teme e opera giustamente, gli è gradito.
The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)The word which he sent unto the children of Israel, preaching good tidings of peace by Jesus Christ (He is Lord of all.)
That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;that saying ye yourselves know, which was published throughout all Judaea, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;Voi sapete ciò che è accaduto per tutta la Giudea, cominciando dalla Galilea, dopo il battesimo che Giovanni predicò:
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.[even] Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.come Dio abbia unto di Spirito Santo e di potenza Gesù di Nazaret, il quale andò attorno facendo del bene e sanando tutti coloro che erano oppressi dal diavolo, perché Dio era con lui.
And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom also they slew, hanging him on a tree.E noi siamo testimoni di tutte le cose che egli ha fatto nel paese dei Giudei e in Gerusalemme; e come essi lo uccisero, appendendolo a un legno.
Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;Him God raised up the third day, and gave him to be made manifest,Ma Dio lo ha risuscitato il terzo giorno e ha fatto sì che si manifestasse,
Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.not to all the people, but unto witnesses that were chosen before of God, [even] to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.non già a tutto il popolo, ma ai testimoni preordinati da Dio, a noi, che abbiamo mangiato e bevuto con lui, dopo che è risuscitato dai morti.
And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.And he charged us to preach unto the people, and to testify that this is he who is ordained of God [to be] the Judge of the living and the dead.
To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.To him bear all the prophets witness, that through his name every one that believeth on him shall receive remission of sins.
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all them that heard the word.
And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.And they of the circumcision that believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit.E tutti i credenti circoncisi, che erano venuti con Pietro, rimasero meravigliati che il dono dello Spirito Santo fosse stato sparso anche sui gentili,
For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,perché li udivano parlare in altre lingue e magnificare Dio. Allora Pietro prese a dire:
Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?Can any man forbid the water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we?Può alcuno vietare l'acqua, perché siano battezzati costoro che hanno ricevuto lo Spirito Santo proprio come noi?.
And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
