| 2 | And he smote Moab, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. And the Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute. | Sconfisse pure i Moabiti e li misurò con la corda, dopo averli fatti coricare per terra. Con due corde misurò quelli che dovevano essere messi a morte, e con una corda completa quelli da lasciare in vita. Così i Moabiti divennero sudditi e tributari di Davide. |
| 3 | David smote also Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his dominion at the River. | Davide sconfisse anche Hadadezer, figlio di Rehob re di Tsobah, mentre egli andava a ristabilire il suo dominio lungo il fiume Eufrate. |
| 4 | And David took from him a thousand and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David hocked all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for a hundred chariots. | Davide gli prese millesettecento cavalieri e ventimila fanti. Davide tagliò pure i garetti a tutti i cavalli, ma ne risparmiò abbastanza per cento carri. |
| 5 | And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succor Hadadezer king of Zobah, David smote of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men. | Quando i Siri di Damasco vennero per soccorrere Hadadezer, re di Tsobah, Davide ne uccise ventiduemila. |
| 6 | Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. And Jehovah gave victory to David whithersoever he went. | Poi Davide mise delle guarnigioni nella Siria di Damasco e i Siri divennero sudditi e tributari di Davide; l'Eterno proteggeva Davide dovunque egli andava. |
| 7 | And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. | Davide prese gli scudi d'oro che i servi di Hadadezer avevano con sé e li portò a Gerusalemme. |
| 8 | And from Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass. | Il re Davide prese anche una grande quantità di bronzo a Betah e a Berothai città di Hadadezer. |
| 9 | And when Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer, | Quando Toi, re di Hamath, venne a sapere che Davide aveva sconfitto tutto l'esercito di Hadadezer |
| 10 | then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And [Joram] brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass: | mandò al re Davide Joram, suo figlio, per salutarlo e per benedirlo, perché aveva mosso guerra a Hadadezer e l'aveva sconfitto. Hadadezer infatti era sempre in guerra con Toi, Joram portò con sé vasi d'argento, vasi d'oro e vasi di bronzo. |
| 11 | These also did king David dedicate unto Jehovah, with the silver and gold that he dedicated of all the nations which he subdued; | Il re Davide consacrò anche questi all'Eterno, come aveva già consacrato l'argento e l'oro proveniente dalle nazioni che aveva soggiogato: |
| 12 | of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah. | dai Siri, dai Moabiti, dagli Ammoniti, dai Filistei, dagli Amalekiti e dal bottino di Hadadezer, figlio di Rehob, re di Tsobah. |
| 13 | And David gat him a name when he returned from smiting the Syrians in the Valley of Salt, even eighteen thousand men. | Davide si fece un nome quando ritornò, dopo aver sconfitto diciottomila Siri nella valle del Sale. |
| 14 | And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And Jehovah gave victory to David whithersoever he went. | Pose delle guarnigioni anche in Idumea; ne mise per tutta l'Idumea e tutti gli Edomiti divennero sudditi di Davide e l'Eterno proteggeva Davide dovunque egli andava. |
| 15 | And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed justice and righteousness unto all his people. | Così Davide regnò su tutto Israele, pronunciando giudizi e amministrando la giustizia a tutto il suo popolo. |
| 16 | And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder; | Joab, figlio di Tseruiah, era capo dell'esercito; Giosafat, figlio di Ahilud, era archivista; |
| 17 | and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Seraiah was scribe; | Tsadok, figlio di Ahitub, e Ahimelek, figlio di Abiathar, erano sacerdoti; Seraiah era segretario; |
| 18 | and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada [was over] the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David`s sons were chief ministers. | Benaiah, figlio di Jehoiada, era capo dei Kerethei e dei Pelethei, e i figli di Davide erano ministri. |
