| 1 | In the seventh year of Jehu began Jehoash to reign; and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem: and his mother`s name was Zibiah of Beer-sheba. | Nell'anno settimo di Jehu, Joas iniziò a regnare e regnò quaranta anni a Gerusalemme. Sua madre si chiamava Tsibiah di Beer-Sceba. |

| 4 | And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the hallowed things that is brought into the house of Jehovah, in current money, the money of the persons for whom each man is rated, and all the money that it cometh into any man`s heart to bring into the house of Jehovah, | Joas disse ai sacerdoti: Tutto il denaro delle cose consacrate che è portato nella casa dell'Eterno, il denaro messo da parte, il denaro fissato per il proprio riscatto e tutto il denaro che ognuno si sente in cuore di portare alla casa dell'Eterno, |
| 5 | let the priests take it to them, every man from his acquaintance; and they shall repair the breaches of the house, wheresoever any breach shall be found. | i sacerdoti lo ricevano, ognuno dal proprio conoscente, e riparino i guasti del tempio, ovunque i guasti si trovino. |
| 6 | But it was so, that in the three and twentieth year of king Jehoash the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house. | Ma nel ventitreesimo anno del re Joas, i sacerdoti non avevano ancora riparato i guasti del tempio. |
| 7 | Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and for the [other] priests, and said unto them, Why repair ye not the breaches of the house? now therefore take no [more] money from your acquaintance, but deliver it for the breaches of the house. | Allora il re Joas chiamò il sacerdote Jehoiada e gli altri sacerdoti e disse loro: Perché non avete riparato i guasti del tempio? Perciò ora non prendete più denaro dai vostri conoscenti, ma datelo per riparare i guasti del tempio. |
| 8 | And the priests consented that they should take no [more] money from the people, neither repair the breaches of the house. | I sacerdoti acconsentirono a non ricevere più denaro dal popolo né a riparare i guasti del tempio. |
| 9 | But Jehoiada the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one cometh into the house of Jehovah: and the priests that kept the threshold put therein all the money that was brought into the house of Jehovah. | Poi il sacerdote Jehoiada prese una cassa, vi fece un buco nel coperchio e la collocò a fianco dell'altare, sul lato destro di chi entra nella casa dell'Eterno; i sacerdoti che custodivano l'ingresso vi mettevano tutto il denaro portato alla casa dell'Eterno. |
| 10 | And it was so, when they saw that there was much money in the chest, that the king`s scribe and the high priest came up, and they put up in bags and counted the money that was found in the house of Jehovah. | Quando essi vedevano che nella cassa c'era molto denaro, venivano il segretario del re e il sommo sacerdote, che mettevano in borse e contavano il denaro trovato nella casa dell'Eterno. |
| 11 | And they gave the money that was weighed out into the hands of them that did the work, that had the oversight of the house of Jehovah: and they paid it out to the carpenters and the builders, that wrought upon the house of Jehovah, | Poi consegnavano il denaro che era stato pesato nelle mani di coloro che facevano il lavoro, a cui era affidata la sorveglianza della casa dell'Eterno: e questi lo passavano ai falegnami e ai costruttori che lavoravano alla casa dell'Eterno, |
| 12 | and to the masons and the hewers of stone, and for buying timber and hewn stone to repair the breaches of the house of Jehovah, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it. | ai muratori e ai tagliapietre, per comprare legname e pietre squadrate, necessarie per riparare i guasti della casa dell'Eterno e per tutte le spese fatte per riparare il tempio. |
| 13 | But there were not made for the house of Jehovah cups of silver, snuffers, basins, trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into the house of Jehovah; | Ma con il denaro portato alla casa dell'Eterno non si fecero, per la casa dell'Eterno, né coppe d'argento, né smoccolatoi, né vasi, né trombe, né alcun oggetto d'oro o alcun oggetto d'argento; |

| 16 | The money for the trespass-offerings, and the money for the sin-offerings, was not brought into the house of Jehovah: it was the priests`. | Il denaro dei sacrifici di riparazione e quello dei sacrifici per il peccato non si portava nella casa dell'Eterno, era per i sacerdoti. |
| 17 | Then Hazael king of Syria went up, and fought against Gath, and took it; and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem. | In quel tempo Hazael, re di Siria, salì a combattere contro Gath e la prese: poi Hazael si accinse a salire contro Gerusalemme. |
| 18 | And Jehoash king of Judah took all the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat and Jehoram and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and of the king`s house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem. | Allora Joas, re di Giuda, prese tutte le cose sacre che i suoi padri Giosafat, Jehoram e Achaziah, re di Giuda, avevano consacrato, quelle consacrate da lui stesso e tutto l'oro che si trovava nei tesori della casa dell'Eterno e della casa del re, e mandò ogni cosa a Hazael, re di Siria, il quale si ritirò da Gerusalemme. |
| 19 | Now the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? | Il resto delle gesta di Joas e tutto ciò che fece non è scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda? |
| 20 | And his servants arose, and made a conspiracy, and smote Joash at the house of Millo, [on the way] that goeth down to Silla. | I servi di Joas si sollevarono, ordirono una congiura e lo uccisero nella casa di Millo. sulla discesa verso Silla. |
| 21 | For Jozacar the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, smote him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amaziah his son reigned in his stead. | Jozakar, figlio di Scimeath, e Jehozabad, figlio di Shomer, suoi servi, lo colpirono ed egli morì. Lo seppellirono quindi con i suoi padri nella città di Davide. Al suo posto regnò suo figlio Amatsiah. |
