| 1 | Therefore seeing we have this ministry, even as we obtained mercy, we faint not: | Perciò, avendo questo ministero per la misericordia che ci è stata fatta, non ci perdiamo d'animo. |
| 2 | but we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man`s conscience in the sight of God. | Anzi abbiamo rinunziato ai sotterfugi della vergogna, non camminando con astuzia, né falsificando la parola di Dio, ma mediante la manifestazione della verità, raccomandando noi stessi alla coscienza di ogni uomo davanti a Dio. |
| 3 | And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled in them that perish: | Ma se il nostro evangelo è ancora velato, esso lo è per quelli che periscono, |
| 4 | in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn [upon them]. | nei quali il dio di questo secolo ha accecato le menti di quelli che non credono, affinché non risplenda loro la luce dell'evangelo della gloria di Cristo, che è l'immagine di Dio. |
| 5 | For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus` sake. | Noi infatti non predichiamo noi stessi, ma Cristo Gesù, il Signore, e siamo vostri servi per amore di Gesù |
| 6 | Seeing it is God, that said, Light shall shine out of darkness, who shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. | perché il Dio che disse: Splenda la luce fra le tenebre, è lo stesso che ha fatto brillare il suo splendore nei nostri cuori per illuminarci nella conoscenza della gloria di Dio, che rifulge sul volto di Gesù Cristo. |
| 7 | But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves; | Or noi abbiamo questo tesoro in vasi di terra, affinché l'eccellenza di questa potenza sia di Dio e non da noi. |
| 8 | [we are] pressed on every side, yet not straitened; perplexed, yet not unto despair; | Noi siamo afflitti in ogni maniera, ma non ridotti agli estremi; perplessi, ma non disperati; |
| 9 | pursued, yet not forsaken; smitten down, yet not destroyed; | perseguitati, ma non abbandonati; abbattuti, ma non distrutti, |
| 10 | always bearing about in the body the dying of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our body. | portando del continuo nel nostro corpo il morire del Signore Gesù, affinché anche la vita di Gesù si manifesti nel nostro corpo. |
| 11 | For we who live are always delivered unto death for Jesus` sake, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh. | Noi che viviamo, infatti siamo del continuo esposti alla morte per Gesù, affinché anche la vita di Gesù si manifesti nella nostra carne mortale. |
| 12 | So then death worketh in us, but life in you. | Cosicché in noi opera la morte, ma in voi la vita. |
| 13 | But having the same spirit of faith, according to that which is written, I believed, and therefore did I speak; we also believe, and therefore also we speak; | Ma pure, avendo noi lo stesso spirito di fede, come sta scritto: Io ho creduto, perciò ho parlato, anche noi crediamo e perciò parliamo, |
| 14 | knowing that he that raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also with Jesus, and shall present us with you. | sapendo che colui che ha risuscitato il Signore Gesù, risusciterà anche noi per mezzo di Gesù e ci farà comparire con voi. |
| 15 | For all things [are] for your sakes, that the grace, being multiplied through the many, may cause the thanksgiving to abound unto the glory of God. | Tutte queste cose infatti sono per voi, affinché la grazia, raggiungendo un numero sempre maggiore di persone, produca ringraziamento per abbondare alla gloria di Dio. |
| 16 | Wherefore we faint not; but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day. | Perciò noi non ci perdiamo d'animo; ma, anche se il nostro uomo esteriore va in rovina, pure quello interiore si rinnova di giorno in giorno. |
| 17 | For our light affliction, which is for the moment, worketh for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory; | Infatti la nostra leggera afflizione, che è solo per un momento, produce per noi uno smisurato, eccellente peso eterno di gloria; |
| 18 | while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. | mentre abbiamo lo sguardo fisso non alle cose che si vedono, ma a quelle che non si vedono, poiché le cose che si vedono sono solo per un tempo, ma quelle che non si vedono sono eterne. |
