| 14 | Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not your's but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children. | Voici pour la troisième fois que je suis prêt d'aller vers vous; et je ne m'épargnerai pas à travailler, pour ne vous être point à charge; car je ne demande pas votre bien, mais c'est vous-mêmes que je demande; aussi ce ne sont pas les enfants qui doivent faire amas pour leurs pères, mais les pères pour leurs enfants. | Behold, this is the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be a burden to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children. |

| 18 | I desired Titus, and with him I sent a brother. Did Titus make a gain of you? walked we not in the same spirit? walked we not in the same steps? | J'ai prié Tite, et j'ai envoyé un de nos frères avec lui; mais Tite a-t-il fait son profit de vous? Et n'avons-nous pas lui et moi marché d'un même esprit? N'avons-nous pas marché sur les mêmes traces? | I exhorted Titus, and I sent the brother with him. | 19 | Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying. | Avez-vous encore la pensée que nous voulions nous justifier envers vous? | 20 | For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults: | Car je crains qu'il n'arrive que quand je viendrai, je ne vous trouve point tels que je voudrais, et que je sois trouvé de vous tel que vous ne voudriez pas, et qu'il n'y ait en quelque sorte parmi vous des querelles, des envies, des colères, des débats, des médisances, des murmures, des enflures d'orgueil, des désordres et des séditions. | For I fear, lest by any means, when I come, I should find you not such as I would, and should myself be found of you such as ye would not; lest by any means [there should be] strife, jealousy, wraths, factions, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults; |
| 21 | And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed. | Et qu'étant revenu chez vous, mon Dieu ne m'humilie sur votre sujet, en sorte que je sois affligé à l'occasion de plusieurs de ceux qui ont péché auparavant, et qui ne se sont point repentis de l'impureté, de la fornication, et de l'impudicité dont ils se sont rendus coupables. | lest again when I come my God should humble me before you, and I should mourn for many of them that have sinned heretofore, and repented not of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they committed. |
