| 2 | Jéhu, fils de Hanani, le voyant, sortit au-devant de lui, et il dit au roi Josaphat : "Doit-on secourir le méchant, et aimes-tu ceux qui haïssent Yahweh ? A cause de cela, est venue sur toi la colère, de par Yahweh. | And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the wicked, and love them that hate Jehovah? for this thing wrath is upon thee from before Jehovah. |
| 3 | Pourtant, il s'est trouvé quelque bien en toi, car tu as fait disparaître du pays les aschérahs, et tu as appliqué ton coeur à chercher Dieu." | Nevertheless there are good things found in thee, in that thou hast put away the Asheroth out of the land, and hast set thy heart to seek God. |
| 4 | Josaphat résida à Jérusalem; et de nouveau il visita le peuple depuis Bersabée jusqu'à la montagne d'Ephraïm, et il les ramena à Yahweh, le Dieu de leurs pères. | And Jehoshaphat dwelt at Jerusalem: and he went out again among the people from Beer-sheba to the hill-country of Ephraim, and brought them back unto Jehovah, the God of their fathers. |
| 5 | Il établit des juges dans le pays, dans toutes les villes fortes de Juda, pour chaque ville. | And he set judges in the land throughout all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city, |
| 6 | Et il dit aux juges : "Prenez garde. à ce que vous ferez, car ce n'est pas pour les hommes que vous rendrez la justice mais c'est pour Yahweh; il sera avec vous quand vous rendrez la justice. | and said to the judges, Consider what ye do: for ye judge not for man, but for Jehovah; and [he is] with you in the judgment. |
| 7 | Et moi maintenant, que la crainte de Yahweh soit sur vous; veillez sur vos actes, car il n'y a avec Yahweh notre Dieu, ni iniquité, ni acception des personnes, ni acceptation des présents." | Now therefore let the fear of Jehovah be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with Jehovah our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of bribes. |
| 8 | A Jérusalem aussi, quand ils revinrent dans cette ville, Josaphat établit, pour les jugements de Yahweh et pour les contestations, des lévites, de prêtres et des chefs de maisons d'Israël. | Moreover in Jerusalem did Jehoshaphat set of the Levites and the priests, and of the heads of the fathers` [houses] of Israel, for the judgment of Jehovah, and for controversies. And they returned to Jerusalem. |
| 9 | Et il leur donna des ordres en ces termes : "Vous agirez ainsi en craignant Yahweh, dans la fidélité et l'intégrité du coeur. | And he charged them, saying, Thus shall ye do in the fear of Jehovah, faithfully, and with a perfect heart. |
| 10 | Dans toute cause qui viendra devant vous de la part de vos frères établis dans leurs villes, quand il s'agira de distinguer entre meurtre et meurtre, entre loi, commandement, précepte ou ordonnance, vous les éclairerez, afin qu'ils ne se rendent pas coupables envers Yahweh, et que sa colère ne vienne pas sur vous et sur vos frères. Vous agirez ainsi, et vous ne serez point coupables. | And whensoever any controversy shall come to you from your brethren that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and ordinances, ye shall warn them, that they be not guilty towards Jehovah, and so wrath come upon you and upon your brethren: this do, and ye shall not be guilty. |
| 11 | Et voici que vous aurez à votre tête Amarias, le grand prêtre, pour toutes les affaires de Yahweh, et Zabadias, fils d'Ismaël, le prince de la maison de Juda, pour toutes les affaires du roi, et vous aurez devant vous les lévites comme officiers. Courage et à l'oeuvre ! et que Yahweh soit avec vous !" | And, behold, Amariah the chief priest is over you in all matters of Jehovah; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the ruler of the house of Judah, in all the king`s matters: also the Levites shall be officers before you. Deal courageously, and Jehovah be with the good. |
