| 2 | And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you. | che uscì a incontrare Asa e gli disse: Asa, e voi tutti di Giuda e di Beniamino, ascoltatemi! L'Eterno è con voi, quando voi siete con lui. Se lo cercate egli si farà trovare da voi, ma se lo abbandonate egli vi abbandonerà. |
| 3 | Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law. | Per lungo tempo Israele è stato senza il vero DIO, senza sacerdote che insegnasse e senza legge. |
| 4 | But when they in their trouble did turn unto the LORD God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them. | Ma nella loro avversità sono ritornati all'Eterno, il DIO d'Israele, l'hanno cercato ed egli si è lasciato trovare da loro. |
| 5 | And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the countries. | In quel tempo non c'era sicurezza per quelli che andavano e per quelli che venivano, perché tutti gli abitanti dei paesi erano in grande agitazione. |
| 6 | And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city: for God did vex them with all adversity. | Una nazione era schiacciata da un'altra, e una città da un'altra, perché DIO li affliggeva con sventure di ogni genere. |
| 7 | Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded. | Ma voi siate forti e non lasciate che le vostre braccia si indeboliscano, perché il vostro lavoro sarà ricompensato. |
| 8 | And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the LORD, that was before the porch of the LORD. | Quando Asa ebbe udito queste parole e la profezia del profeta Oded, prese coraggio e rimosse gli idoli abominevoli da tutto il paese di Giuda e di Beniamino e dalle città che aveva espugnato nella regione montuosa di Efraim, e riparò l'altare dell'Eterno che si trovava davanti all'atrio dell'Eterno. |
| 9 | And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the LORD his God was with him. | Quindi radunò tutto Giuda e Beniamino e quelli di Efraim, di Manasse e di Simeone che risiedevano con loro infatti erano venuti a lui in gran numero da Israele, quando avevano visto che l'Eterno, il suo DIO, era con lui. |
| 10 | So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa. | Così si radunarono a Gerusalemme nel terzo mese del quindicesimo anno del regno di Asa. |
| 11 | And they offered unto the LORD the same time, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep. | In quel tempo sacrificarono all'Eterno, dal bottino che avevano preso, settecento buoi e settemila pecore. |
| 12 | And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul; | Si impegnarono quindi con un patto a cercare l'Eterno, il DIO dei loro padri, con tutto il loro cuore e con tutta la loro anima. |
| 13 | That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. | Chiunque non avesse cercato l'Eterno, il DIO d'Israele, sarebbe stato messo a morte, grande o piccolo che fosse, uomo o donna. |
| 14 | And they sware unto the LORD with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets. | Inoltre fecero un giuramento all'Eterno a gran voce e con grida di giubilo, al suono delle trombe e dei corni. |
| 15 | And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the LORD gave them rest round about. | Tutto Giuda si rallegrò del giuramento, perché avevano giurato con tutto il loro cuore e avevano cercato l'Eterno con tutta la loro volontà, ed egli si era lasciato trovare da loro. Così l'Eterno diede loro riposo tutt'intorno. |
| 16 | And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron. | Egli destituì persino Maakah, madre del re Asa, dalla sua posizione di regina, perché essa aveva fatto un'immagine abominevole di Ascerah. Quindi Asa demolì l'immagine, la fece a pezzi e la bruciò presso il torrente Kidron. |
| 17 | But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days. | Ma gli alti luoghi non furono eliminati da Israele, anche se il cuore di Asa rimase integro per tutta la sua vita. |
| 18 | And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels. | Egli fece portare nella casa di DIO le cose consacrate da suo padre e le cose consacrate da lui stesso: argento, oro e vasi. |
| 19 | And there was no more war unto the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa. | E non ci fu più guerra fino al trentacinquesimo anno del regno di Asa. |
