| 1 | Et Abija s'endormit avec ses pères, et on l'enterra dans la ville de David. Et Asa, son fils, régna à sa place. De ses jours, le pays fut en repos pendant six ans. | So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead. In his days the land was quiet ten years. | Poi Abijah si addormentò con i suoi padri e fu sepolto nella città di Davide. Al suo posto regnò suo figlio Asa. Ai suoi tempi il paese rimase tranquillo per dieci anni. |
| 2 | Et Asa fit ce qui est bon et droit aux yeux de l'Éternel, son Dieu; | And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God: | Asa fece ciò che è buono e retto agli occhi dell'Eterno, il suo DIO. |
| 3 | et il ôta les autels des dieux étrangers, et les hauts lieux, et il brisa les statues et abattit les ashères; | For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves: | Egli rimosse gli altari degli dèi stranieri e gli alti luoghi, distrusse le colonne sacre e fece a pezzi gli Ascerim. |
| 4 | et il dit à Juda de rechercher l'Éternel, le Dieu de leurs pères, et de pratiquer la loi et les commandements; | And commanded Judah to seek the LORD God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment. | Inoltre ordinò a Giuda di cercare l'Eterno, il DIO dei loro padri, e di mettere in pratica la legge e i comandamenti. |
| 5 | et il ôta de toutes les villes de Juda les hauts lieux et les colonnes consacrées au soleil. Et le royaume fut tranquille devant lui. | Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him. | Rimosse pure da tutte le città di Giuda gli alti luoghi e gli idoli; e sotto di lui il regno ebbe tranquillità. |
| 6 | Et il bâtit des villes fortes en Juda, car le pays était tranquille, et il n'eut point de guerre pendant ces années-là, car l'Éternel lui donna du repos. | And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the LORD had given him rest. | Egli costruì città fortificate in Giuda perché il paese era tranquillo. In quegli anni non ci fu alcuna guerra contro di lui, poiché l'Eterno gli aveva dato tranquillità. |
| 7 | Et il dit à Juda: Bâtissons ces villes, et entourons-les de murailles et de tours, de portes et de barres, pendant que le pays est devant nous; car nous avons recherché l'Éternel, notre Dieu: nous l'avons recherché, et il nous a donné du repos tout à l'entour. Et ils bâtirent et prospérèrent. | Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered. | Egli diceva a quelli di Giuda: Costruiamo queste città e circondiamole di mura, di torri, di porte e di sbarre. Il paese è ancora a nostra disposizione perché abbiamo cercato l'Eterno, il nostro DIO; noi l'abbiamo cercato, ed egli ci ha dato riposo tutt'intorno. Così essi si misero a costruire e prosperarono. |
| 8 | Et Asa avait une armée de trois cent mille hommes de Juda, portant le bouclier et la pique, et de deux cent quatre-vingt mille de Benjamin, portant l'écu et tirant de l'arc, tous des hommes forts et vaillants. | And Asa had an army of men that bare targets and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bare shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these were mighty men of valour. | Asa aveva un esercito di trecentomila uomini di Giuda che portavano scudo e lancia, e di duecentottantamila di Beniamino che portavano scudo e tiravano l'arco; tutti questi erano uomini forti e valorosi. |
| 9 | Et Zérakh, l'Éthiopien, sortit contre eux avec une armée d' un million d'hommes, et de trois cents chars; et il vint jusqu'à Marésha. | And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an host of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots; and came unto Mareshah. | Contro di loro uscì Zerah, l'Etiope, con un esercito di un milione di uomini e con trecento carri e giunse fino a Mareshah. |
| 10 | Et Asa sortit au-devant de lui; et ils se rangèrent en bataille dans la vallée de Tsephatha, près de Marésha. | Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah. | Asa uscì contro di lui, e si disposero in ordine di battaglia nella valle di Tsefathah presso Mareshah. |
| 11 | Et Asa invoqua l'Éternel, son Dieu, et dit: Éternel! il n'y a pas de différence pour toi, pour aider, entre beaucoup de force et point de force. Aide-nous, Éternel, notre Dieu! car nous nous appuyons sur toi; et c'est en ton nom que nous sommes venus contre cette multitude. Tu es l'Éternel, notre Dieu; que l'homme n'ait point de force contre toi! | And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let no man prevail against thee. | Allora Asa gridò all'Eterno il suo DIO e disse: O Eterno, non c'è nessuno all'infuori di te che possa venire in aiuto nel combattimento tra uno potente e uno che è privo di forza. Soccorrici, o Eterno, nostro DIO, perché noi ci appoggiamo su di te e andiamo contro questa moltitudine nel tuo nome. O Eterno, tu sei il nostro DIO; non permettere che l'uomo prevalga su di te!. |
| 12 | Et l'Éternel frappa les Éthiopiens devant Asa et devant Juda, et les Éthiopiens s'enfuirent. | So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled. | Così l'Eterno colpì gli Etiopi davanti ad Asa e davanti a Giuda, e gli Etiopi si diedero alla fuga. |
| 13 | Et Asa et le peuple qui était avec lui les poursuivirent jusqu'à Guérar; et il tomba tant d'Éthiopiens qu'ils ne purent reprendre leur force, car ils furent abattus devant l'Éternel et devant son armée. Et ils emportèrent un très-grand butin; | And Asa and the people that were with him pursued them unto Gerar: and the Ethiopians were overthrown, that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before the LORD, and before his host; and they carried away very much spoil. | Allora Asa e la gente che era con lui li inseguirono fino a Gherar. Perciò gli Etiopi furono sconfitti, e di loro non ne rimase neppure uno vivo perché essi furono distrutti davanti all'Eterno e davanti al suo esercito. Ed essi portarono via un enorme bottino. |
| 14 | et ils frappèrent toutes les villes qui étaient autour de Guérar, car la frayeur de l'Éternel était sur elles; et ils les pillèrent toutes, car il y avait dans ces villes un grand butin. | And they smote all the cities round about Gerar; for the fear of the LORD came upon them: and they spoiled all the cities; for there was exceeding much spoil in them. | Poi attaccarono tutte le città intorno a Gherar, perché il terrore dell'Eterno era caduto su di esse, e saccheggiarono tutte le città, nelle quali c'era molto bottino. |
| 15 | Ils frappèrent aussi les tentes des troupeaux, et emmenèrent du menu bétail en quantité, et des chameaux; et ils s'en retournèrent à Jérusalem. | They smote also the tents of cattle, and carried away sheep and camels in abundance, and returned to Jerusalem. | Assalirono pure i recinti del bestiame e portarono via gran numero di pecore e di cammelli. Poi tornarono a Gerusalemme. |
