| 8 | Abisaï dit à David : « Dieu a enfermé aujourd'hui ton ennemi entre tes mains; maintenant, je te prie, laisse-moi le frapper de la lance et le clouer en terre d'un seul coup, sans que j'aie à y revenir. » | Alors Abishaï dit à David: Dieu a livré aujourd'hui ton ennemi entre tes mains; maintenant donc, je te prie, que je le frappe de la lance jusqu'en terre, d'un seul coup, et je n'y reviendrai pas. | Then said Abishai to David, God hath delivered up thine enemy into thy hand this day: now therefore let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear to the earth at one stroke, and I will not smite him the second time. |

Car qui porterait la main sur l'oint de Yahweh et resterait impuni ? » | Mais David dit à Abishaï: Ne le mets point à mort; car qui porterait la main sur l'oint de l'Éternel, et serait innocent? | And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not; for who can put forth his hand against Jehovah`s anointed, and be guiltless? |
| 10 | Et David dit : « Aussi vrai que Yahweh est vivant! Ce sera seulement Yahweh qui le frappera; ou bien son jour arrivera et il mourra, ou bien il descendra à la guerre et il périra; | Et David dit: L'Éternel est vivant! C'est l'Éternel seul qui le frappera, soit que son jour vienne et qu'il meure, soit qu'il descende au combat et y périsse. | And David said, As Jehovah liveth, Jehovah will smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall go down into battle and perish. |

Personne ne vit, personne ne sut, personne ne se réveilla, car ils dormaient tous, Yahweh ayant fait tomber sur eux un profond assoupissement. | David prit donc la lance et la cruche d'eau, qui étaient au chevet de Saül, et ils s'en allèrent; et il n'y eut personne qui les vît, ni qui les aperçût, ni qui s'éveillât; car tous dormaient, parce que l'Éternel avait fait tomber sur eux un profond sommeil. | So David took the spear and the cruse of water from Saul`s head; and they gat them away: and no man saw it, nor knew it, neither did any awake; for they were all asleep, because a deep sleep from Jehovah was fallen upon them. |

Et Abner répondit, et dit: Qui es-tu, toi qui cries au roi? | and David cried to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, Answerest thou not, Abner? Then Abner answered and said, Who art thou that criest to the king? |
| 15 | David dit à Abner : « N'es-tu pas un homme ? Et qui est ton pareil en Israël ? Pourquoi donc n'as-tu pas gardé le roi, ton seigneur ? Car quelqu'un du peuple est venu pour tuer le roi, ton seigneur. | Alors David dit à Abner: N'es-tu pas un homme? Et qui est semblable à toi en Israël? Pourquoi donc n'as-tu pas gardé le roi, ton seigneur? Car quelqu'un du peuple est venu pour tuer le roi, ton seigneur; | And David said to Abner, Art not thou a [valiant] man? and who is like to thee in Israel? wherefore then hast thou not kept watch over thy lord the king? for there came one of the people in to destroy the king thy lord. |
| 16 | Ce que tu as fait là n'est pas bien. Aussi vrai que Yahweh est vivant! Vous avez mérité la mort, pour n'avoir pas gardé votre maître, l'oint de Yahweh. Regarde maintenant où sont la lance du roi et la cruche d'eau qui était à son chevet. » | Ce que tu as fait n'est pas bien. L'Éternel est vivant! vous méritez la mort, pour avoir mal gardé votre seigneur, l'oint de l'Éternel. Et maintenant, regarde où sont la lance du roi et la cruche d'eau qui étaient à son chevet. | This thing is not good that thou hast done. As Jehovah liveth, ye are worthy to die, because ye have not kept watch over your lord, Jehovah`s anointed. And now see where the king`s spear is, and the cruse of water that was at his head. |
| 17 | Saül reconnut la voix de David et dit : « Est-ce bien ta voix, mon fils David ? » Et David répondit : « C'est ma voix, ô roi, mon seigneur. » | Alors Saül reconnut la voix de David, et dit: Est-ce bien ta voix, mon fils David? Et David dit: C'est ma voix, ô roi, mon seigneur! | And Saul knew David`s voice, and said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And David said, It is my voice, my lord, O king. |
| 18 | Il ajouta : « Pourquoi mon seigneur poursuit-il son serviteur ? Qu'ai-je fait, et quel crime ma main a-t-elle commis ? | Et il dit: Pourquoi mon seigneur poursuit-il son serviteur? Qu'ai-je fait, et quel mal y a-t-il en ma main? | And he said, Wherefore doth my lord pursue after his servant? for what have I done? or what evil is in my hand? |
| 19 | Que le roi, mon seigneur, daigne maintenant écouter les paroles de ton serviteur : si c'est Yahweh qui t'excite contre moi, qu'il agrée le parfum d'une offrande; mais si ce sont des hommes, qu'ils soient maudits devant Yahweh, puisqu'ils m'ont chassé maintenant, pour m'ôter ma place de l'héritage de Yahweh, en disant : Va servir des dieux étrangers! | Et maintenant, je te prie, que le roi, mon seigneur, écoute les paroles de son serviteur. Si c'est l'Éternel qui te pousse contre moi, que l'offrande lui soit agréable; mais si ce sont les hommes, qu'ils soient maudits devant l'Éternel! Car ils m'ont chassé aujourd'hui, afin que je ne puisse me joindre à l'héritage de l'Éternel, et ils m'ont dit: Va-t'en, sers des dieux étrangers. | Now therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If it be Jehovah that hath stirred thee up against me, let him accept an offering: but if it be the children of men, cursed be they before Jehovah: for they have driven me out this day that I should not cleave unto the inheritance of Jehovah, saying, Go, serve other gods. |

Car le roi d'Israël s'est mis en marche pour chercher une puce, comme on poursuivrait une perdrix dans les montagnes. » | Et maintenant, que mon sang ne tombe point en terre loin de la face de l'Éternel; car le roi d'Israël est sorti pour chercher une puce, comme on poursuit une perdrix dans les montagnes. | Now therefore, let not my blood fall to the earth away from the presence of Jehovah: for the king of Israel is come out to seek a flea, as when one doth hunt a partridge in the mountains. |
| 21 | Saül dit : « J'ai péché; reviens, mon fils David, car je ne te ferai plus de mal, puisqu'en ce jour ma vie a été précieuse à tes yeux. Voilà que j'ai agi en insensé et j'ai fait une grande faute. » | Alors Saül dit: J'ai péché; reviens, mon fils David! car je ne te ferai plus de mal, puisque aujourd'hui ma vie t'a été précieuse. Voici, j'ai agi follement, et j'ai fait une très grande faute. | Then said Saul, I have sinned: return, my son David; for I will no more do thee harm, because my life was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I have played the fool, and have erred exceedingly. |
| 22 | David répondit : « Voici la lance, ô roi; que l'un de tes jeunes gens vienne la prendre. | Et David répondit, et dit: Voici la lance du roi; que l'un de vos gens passe ici, et qu'il la prenne. | And David answered and said, Behold the spear, O king! let then one of the young men come over and fetch it. |
| 23 | Yahweh rendra à chacun selon sa justice et sa fidélité; car Yahweh t'avait livré aujourd'hui entre mes mains, et je n'ai pas voulu porter la main sur l'oint de Yahweh. | Et l'Éternel rendra à chacun selon sa justice et sa fidélité; car l'Éternel t'avait livré aujourd'hui entre mes mains, et je n'ai point voulu porter la main sur l'oint de l'Éternel. | And Jehovah will render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness; forasmuch as Jehovah delivered thee into my hand to-day, and I would not put forth my hand against Jehovah`s anointed. |
| 24 | Voici que, comme ta vie a été aujourd'hui d'un grand prix à mes yeux, ainsi ma vie sera d'un grand prix aux yeux de Yahweh, et il me délivrera de toute angoisse! » | Et comme ton âme a été aujourd'hui d'un grand prix à mes yeux, ainsi mon âme sera d'un grand prix aux yeux de l'Éternel, et il me délivrera de toute affliction. | And, behold, as thy life was much set by this day in mine eyes, so let my life be much set by in the eyes of Jehovah, and let him deliver me out of all tribulation. |
| 25 | Saül dit à David : « Sois béni mon fils, David! Tu réussiras certainement dans tes entreprises. » David continua son chemin, et Saül s'en retourna chez lui. | Et Saül dit à David: Béni sois-tu, mon fils David! certainement tu entreprendras et tu réussiras. Alors David continua son chemin, et Saül retourna en son lieu. | Then Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do mightily, and shalt surely prevail. So David went his way, and Saul returned to his place. |
