| 3 | Tu sais que David, mon père, n'a pas pu bâtir une maison à l'Éternel, son Dieu, à cause des guerres dont ses ennemis l'ont enveloppé jusqu'à ce que l'Éternel les eût mis sous la plante de ses pieds. | Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet. | Tu sais que David mon père n'a pu bâtir une maison au Nom de l'Eternel son Dieu, à cause des guerres qui l'ont environné, jusqu'à ce que l'Eternel a eu mis ses ennemis sous ses pieds. | Thou knowest how that David my father could not build a house for the name of Jehovah his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until Jehovah put them under the soles of his feet. |

| 5 | Voici, j'ai l'intention de bâtir une maison au nom de l'Éternel, mon Dieu, comme l'Éternel l'a déclaré à David, mon père, en disant : Ton fils que je mettrai à ta place sur ton trône, ce sera lui qui bâtira une maison à mon nom. | And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name. | Voici donc je prétends bâtir une maison au Nom de l'Eternel mon Dieu, selon que l'Eternel en a parlé à David mon père en disant: Ton fils que je mettrai en ta place sur ton trône sera celui qui bâtira une maison à mon Nom. | And, behold, I purpose to build a house for the name of Jehovah my God, as Jehovah spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build the house for my name. |
| 6 | Ordonne maintenant que l'on coupe pour moi des cèdres du Liban. Mes serviteurs seront avec les tiens, et je te paierai le salaire de tes serviteurs tel que tu l'auras fixé ; car tu sais qu'il n'y a personne parmi nous qui s'entende à couper les bois comme les Sidoniens. | Now therefore command thou that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto thee will I give hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt appoint: for thou knowest that there is not among us any that can skill to hew timber like unto the Sidonians. | C'est pourquoi commande maintenant qu'on coupe des cèdres du Liban, et que mes serviteurs soient avec tes serviteurs; et je te donnerai pour tes serviteurs telle récompense que tu me diras; car tu sais qu'il n'y a point de gens parmi nous qui s'entendent comme les Sidoniens, à couper le bois. | Now therefore command thou that they cut me cedar-trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants; and I will give thee hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt say: for thou knowest that there is not among us any that knoweth how to cut timber like unto the Sidonians. |
| 7 | Lorsqu'il entendit les paroles de Salomon, Hiram eut une grande joie, et il dit : Béni soit aujourd'hui l'Éternel, qui a donné à David un fils sage pour chef de ce grand peuple ! | And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be the LORD this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people. | Or il arriva que quand Hiram eut entendu les paroles de Salomon, il s'en réjouit fort, et dit: Béni soit aujourd'hui l'Eternel, qui a donné à David un fils sage pour être Roi sur ce grand peuple. | And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be Jehovah this day, who hath given unto David a wise son over this great people. |
| 8 | Et Hiram fit répondre à Salomon : J'ai entendu ce que tu m'as envoyé dire. Je ferai tout ce qui te plaira au sujet des bois de cèdre et des bois de cyprès. | And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have considered the things which thou sentest to me for: and I will do all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir. | Hiram envoya donc vers Salomon pour lui dire: J'ai entendu ce que tu m'as envoyé dire, et je ferai tout ce que tu veux au sujet du bois de cèdre et du bois de sapin. | And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have heard [the message] which thou hast sent unto me: I will do all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir. |
| 9 | Mes serviteurs les descendront du Liban à la mer, et je les expédierai par mer en radeaux jusqu'au lieu que tu m'indiqueras ; là, je les ferai délier, et tu les prendras. Ce que je désire en retour, c'est que tu fournisses des vivres à ma maison. | My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon unto the sea: and I will convey them by sea in floats unto the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receive them: and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household. | Mes serviteurs les amèneront depuis le Liban jusqu'à la mer, puis je les ferai mettre sur la mer par radeaux, jusqu'au lieu que tu m'auras marqué, et je les ferai là délier, et tu les prendras, et de ton côté tu me satisferas en fournissant de vivres ma maison. | My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon unto the sea; and I will make them into rafts to go by sea unto the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be broken up there, and thou shalt receive them; and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household. |
