Si Yahweh est Dieu, allez après lui; si c'est Baal, allez après lui! » Le peuple ne lui répondit rien. | And Elijah came near unto all the people, and said, How long go ye limping between the two sides? if Jehovah be God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word. | Allora Elia si avvicinò a tutto il popolo e disse: Fino a quando tentennerete fra due opinioni? Se l'Eterno è DIO, seguitelo; ma se invece lo è Baal, seguite lui. Il popolo non rispose parola. |
| 22 | Et Elie dit au peuple : « Je suis resté seul des prophètes de Yahweh, et il y a quatre cent cinquante prophètes de Baal. | Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, am left a prophet of Jehovah; but Baal`s prophets are four hundred and fifty men. | Allora Elia disse al popolo: Sono rimasto io solo dei profeti dell'Eterno, mentre i profeti di Baal sono in quattrocentocinquanta. |

| 25 | Elie dit aux prophètes de Baal : « Choisissez pour vous l'un des taureaux, préparez-le d'abord, car vous êtes les plus nombreux, et invoquez le nom de votre dieu, mais ne mettez pas le feu. » | And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under. | Allora Elia disse ai profeti di Baal: Sceglietevi un torello e preparatelo per primi, perché siete i più numerosi; poi invocate il vostro dio, ma senza appiccare il fuoco. |
| 26 | Ils prirent le taureau qu'on leur donna et le préparèrent; et ils invoquèrent le nom de Baal depuis le matin jusqu'à midi, en disant : « Baal, réponds-nous! » Mais il n'y eut ni voix ni réponse. Et ils sautaient devant l'autel qu'ils avaient fait. | And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped about the altar which was made. | Così essi presero il torello che fu dato loro e lo prepararono; poi invocarono il nome di Baal dal mattino fino a mezzogiorno, dicendo: O Baal, rispondici!. | 29 | Lorsque midi fut passé, ils prophétisèrent jusqu'au moment où l'on présente l'oblation. Mais il n'y eut ni voix, ni réponse, ni signe d'attention. | And it was so, when midday was past, that they prophesied until the time of the offering of the [evening] oblation; but there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded. | Passato mezzogiorno, essi profetizzarono fino al tempo di offrire l'oblazione; ma non si udì alcuna voce nessuno rispose e nessuno diede loro retta. |
| 30 | Elie dit à tout le peuple : « Approchez-vous de moi. » Tout le peuple s'étant approché de lui, Elie rétablit l'autel de Yahweh, qui avait été renversé. | And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me; and all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of Jehovah that was thrown down. | Allora Ella disse a tutto il popolo: Avvicinatevi a me!. | 31 | Elie prit douze pierres, d'après le nombre des tribus des fils de Jacob, auquel la parole de Yahweh avait été adressée en ces termes : « Israël sera ton nom. » | And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of Jehovah came, saying, Israel shall be thy name. | Poi Elia prese dodici pietre, secondo il numero delle tribù dei figli di Giacobbe al quale l'Eterno aveva detto: Il tuo nome sarà Israele. |
| 32 | Il bâtit avec ces pierres un autel au nom de Yahweh; puis, ayant fait autour de l'autel un fossé de la capacité de deux mesures de semence, | And with the stones he built an altar in the name of Jehovah; and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed. | Con le pietre edificò un altare al nome dell'Eterno e fece intorno all'altare un fosso della capacità di due misure di grano. |

Il dit : « Faites le une troisième fois »; et ils le firent une troisième fois. | And he said, Do it the second time; and they did it the second time. | 38 | Alors le feu de Yahweh tomba, et il consuma l'holocauste, le bois, les pierres et la terre, et absorba l'eau qui était dans le fossé. | Then the fire of Jehovah fell, and consumed the burnt-offering, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. | Allora cadde il fuoco dell'Eterno e consumò l'olocausto, la legna, le pietre e la polvere, e prosciugò l'acqua che era nel fosso. |
| 39 | Quand tout le peuple vit cela, ils tombèrent sur leur visage et ils dirent : C'est Yahweh qui est Dieu! C'est Yahweh qui est Dieu! » | And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, Jehovah, he is God; Jehovah, he is God. | A tale vista, tutto il popolo si gettò con la faccia a terra e disse: L'Eterno è DIO! L'Eterno è DIO!. |
| 40 | Et Elie leur dit : Saisissez les prophètes de Baal; que pas un d'eux n'échappe! » Ils les saisirent, et Elie les fit descendre au torrent de Cison, où il les tua. | and Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them; and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there. | Quindi Elia disse loro: Prendete i profeti di Baal; non lasciatene scappare neppure uno!. | 46 | Et la main de Yahweh fut sur Elie; il se ceignit les reins et courut devant Achab, jusqu'à l'entrée de Jezrahel. | and the hand of Jehovah was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel. | La mano dell'Eterno fu sopra Elia, che si cinse i lombi e corse davanti ad Achab fino all'ingresso di Jezreel. |
