And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for all Israel were come to Shechem to make him king.And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for all Israel were come to Shechem to make him king.Roboamo andò a Sichem, perché tutto Israele era venuto a Sichem per farlo re.
And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was yet in Egypt, heard of it, (for he was fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt;)And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it (for he was yet in Egypt, whither he had fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt,Quando Geroboamo, figlio di Nebat, venne a saperlo (egli era in Egitto, dove era fuggito lontano dalla presenza del re Salomone) e Geroboamo viveva in Egitto.
On l'envoya appeler. Alors Jéroboam et toute l'assemblée d'Israël vinrent à Roboam et lui parlèrent ainsi :That they sent and called him. And Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came, and spake unto Rehoboam, saying,and they sent and called him), that Jeroboam and all the assembly of Israel came, and spake unto Rehoboam, saying,Allora lo mandarono a chiamare. Così Geroboamo e tutta l'assemblea d'Israele vennero a parlare a Roboamo e gli dissero:
Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.
And he said unto them, Depart yet for three days, then come again to me. And the people departed.And he said unto them, Depart yet for three days, then come again to me. And the people departed.
And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye advise that I may answer this people?And king Rehoboam took counsel with the old men, that had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, What counsel give ye me to return answer to this people?
And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.
But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him:But he forsook the counsel of the old men which they had given him, and took counsel with the young men that were grown up with him, that stood before him.
And he said unto them, What counsel give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?And he said unto them, What counsel give ye, that we may return answer to this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke that thy father did put upon us lighter?e disse loro: Che cosa mi consigliate di rispondere a questo popolo che mi ha parlato, dicendo: "Alleggerisci il giogo impostoci da tuo padre"?.
Et voici ce que lui dirent les jeunes gens qui avaient grandi avec lui : Tu parleras ainsi à ce peuple qui t'a tenu ce langage : Ton père a rendu notre joug pesant, et toi, allège-le-nous ! tu leur parleras ainsi : Mon petit doigt est plus gros que les reins de mon père.And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father's loins.And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou say unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou speak unto them, My little finger is thicker than my father`s loins.Allora i giovani che erano cresciuti con lui gli risposero, dicendo: Così risponderai a questo popolo che si è rivolto a te dicendo: "Tuo padre ha reso pesante il nostro giogo; ora tu alleggeriscilo". Così dirai loro: "Il mio dito mignolo è più grosso dei fianchi di mio padre;
And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.perciò, se mio padre vi ha caricati di un giogo pesante, io lo renderò ancora più pesante; se mio padre vi ha castigati con fruste, io vi castigherò con flagelli".
So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me again the third day.So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king bade, saying, Come to me again the third day.
Le roi répondit durement au peuple. Il laissa le conseil que lui avaient donné les vieillards,And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the old men's counsel that they gave him;And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the counsel of the old men which they had given him,Il re rispose al popolo duramente, rifiutando così il consiglio che gli anziani gli avevano dato;
And spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father also chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.and spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.parlò invece al popolo secondo il consiglio dei giovani, dicendo: Mio padre ha reso pesante il vostro giogo, ma io lo renderò più pesante ancora; mio padre vi ha castigati con fruste, ma io vi castigherò con flagelli.
Wherefore the king hearkened not unto the people; for the cause was from the LORD, that he might perform his saying, which the LORD spake by Ahijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam the son of Nebat.So the king hearkened not unto the people; for it was a thing brought about of Jehovah, that he might establish his word, which Jehovah spake by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
A tes tentes, Israël ! So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.And when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.
But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.But as for the children of Israel that dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the tribute; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. Therefore king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the men subject to taskwork; and all Israel stoned him to death with stones. And king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
So Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day.So Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day.
And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was come again, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was returned, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.
And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, with the tribe of Benjamin, an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, and the tribe of Benjamin, a hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, that were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.
Mais la parole de Dieu fut ainsi adressée à Schemaeja, homme de Dieu :But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying,But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying,Ma la parola di DIO fu rivolta a Scemaiah, uomo di DIO, dicendo:
Speak unto Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying,Speak unto Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the rest of the people, saying,Parla a Roboamo, figlio di Salomone, re di Giuda, a tutta la casa di Giuda e di Beniamino e al resto del popolo, e di' loro:
Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is from me. They hearkened therefore to the word of the LORD, and returned to depart, according to the word of the LORD.Thus saith Jehovah, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is of me. So they hearkened unto the word of Jehovah, and returned and went their way, according to the word of Jehovah.Così parla l'Eterno: "Non salite a combattere contro i vostri fratelli, i figli d'Israele!
Then Jeroboam built Shechem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt therein; and went out from thence, and built Penuel.Then Jeroboam built Shechem in the hill-country of Ephraim, and dwelt therein; and he went out from thence, and built Penuel.
And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now shall the kingdom return to the house of David:And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now will the kingdom return to the house of David:Geroboamo disse in cuor suo: Ora il regno tornerà probabilmente alla casa di Davide.
If this people go up to do sacrifice in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people turn again unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and go again to Rehoboam king of Judah.if this people go up to offer sacrifices in the house of Jehovah at Jerusalem, then will the heart of this people turn again unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah; and they will kill me, and return to Rehoboam king of Judah.
Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold; and he said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
Il plaça l'un de ces veaux à Béthel, et il mit l'autre à Dan.And he set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in Dan.And he set the one in Beth-el, and the other put he in Dan.Ne collocò quindi uno a Bethel, e l'altro a Dan.
Ce fut là une occasion de péché. Le peuple alla devant l'un des veaux jusqu'à Dan.And this thing became a sin: for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan.And this thing became a sin; for the people went [to worship] before the one, even unto Dan.Questo fu causa di peccato, perché il popolo andava fino a Dan per prostrarsi davanti a un vitello.
And he made an house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi.And he made houses of high places, and made priests from among all the people, that were not of the sons of Levi.
And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Bethel, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places which he had made.And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he went up unto the altar; so did he in Beth-el, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Beth-el the priests of the high places that he had made.
So he offered upon the altar which he had made in Bethel the fifteenth day of the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and ordained a feast unto the children of Israel: and he offered upon the altar, and burnt incense.And he went up unto the altar which he had made in Beth-el on the fifteenth day in the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart: and he ordained a feast for the children of Israel, and went up unto the altar, to burn incense.Il quindicesimo giorno dell'ottavo mese, mese scelto da lui stesso, Geroboamo salì all'altare che aveva costruito a Bethel; istituì una festa per i figli d'Israele e salì all'altare per bruciare incenso.
