Oui, c'est à cause de nous que cela a été écrit; celui qui laboure doit labourer avec espérance, et celui qui foule le grain doit le fouler dans l'espérance d'y avoir part. | or saith he it assuredly for our sake? Yea, for our sake it was written: because he that ploweth ought to plow in hope, and he that thresheth, [to thresh] in hope of partaking. | Ovvero, dice tutto questo per noi? Cependant nous n'avons pas usé de ce droit; mais nous supportons tout, afin de ne pas créer d'obstacle à l'Evangile du Christ. | If others partake of [this] right over you, do not we yet more? | 13 | Ne savez-vous pas que ceux qui remplissent les fonctions sacrées vivent du temple, et que ceux qui servent à l'autel ont part à l'autel ? | Know ye not that they that minister about sacred things eat [of] the things of the temple, [and] they that wait upon the altar have their portion with the altar? | Non sapete voi che quelli che fanno il servizio sacro mangiano delle cose del tempio, e quelli che servono all'altare hanno parte dei beni dell'altare? |

| 17 | Si je le faisais de mon propre gré, je mériterais une récompense; mais je le fais par ordre, alors c'est une charge qui m'est confiée. | For if I do this of mine own will, I have a reward: but if not of mine own will, I have a stewardship intrusted to me. | Se perciò lo faccio volontariamente, ne ho ricompensa; ma se lo faccio contro voglia, rimane sempre un incarico che mi è stato affidato. |
| 18 | Quelle est donc ma récompense ? C'est que prêchant l'Evangile je l'offre gratuitement, sans user de mon droit de prédicateur de l'Evangile. | What then is my reward? That, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel without charge, so as not to use to the full my right in the gospel. | Qual è dunque il mio premio? Questo: che predicando l'evangelo, io posso offrire l'evangelo di Cristo gratuitamente, per non abusare del mio diritto nell'evangelo. |
| 19 | Car, quoique libre à l'égard de tous, je me suis fait le serviteur de tous, afin d'en gagner un plus grand nombre. | For though I was free from all [men,] I brought myself under bondage to all, that I might gain the more. | Infatti, pur essendo libero da tutti, mi sono fatto servo di tutti, per guadagnarne il maggior numero. |
| 20 | Avec les Juifs, j'ai été comme Juif, afin de gagner les Juifs; | And to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, not being myself under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; | Mi sono così fatto Giudeo con i Giudei, per guadagnare i Giudei; mi sono fatto come uno che è sotto la legge con coloro che sono sotto la legge, per guadagnare quelli che sono sotto la legge; |

Courez de même, afin de le remporter. | Know ye not that they that run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? Even so run; that ye may attain. | Non sapete voi che quelli che corrono nello stadio, corrono bensì tutti, ma uno solo ne conquista il premio? Correte in modo da conquistarlo. |
| 25 | Quiconque veut lutter, s'abstient de tout : eux pour une couronne périssable; nous, pour une impérissable. | And every man that striveth in the games exerciseth self-control in all things. Now they [do it] to receive a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. | Ora, chiunque compete nelle gare si auto-controlla in ogni cosa; e quei tali fanno ciò per ricevere una corona corruttibile, ma noi dobbiamo farlo per riceverne una incorruttibile. |
