| 1 | Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth. | Ora, riguardo alle cose sacrificate agli idoli, noi sappiamo che tutti abbiamo conoscenza; la conoscenza gonfia, ma l'amore edifica. |
| 2 | And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. | Ora, se uno pensa di sapere qualche cosa, non sa ancora nulla di come egli dovrebbe sapere. |
| 3 | But if any man love God, the same is known of him. | Ma se uno ama Dio, egli è da lui conosciuto. |
| 4 | As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one. | Perciò quanto al mangiare le cose sacrificate agli idoli, noi sappiamo che l'idolo non è nulla nel mondo, e che non vi è alcun altro Dio, se non uno solo, |
| 5 | For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) | E infatti, anche se vi sono i cosiddetti dèi sia in cielo che in terra (come vi sono molti dèi e molti signori), |
| 6 | But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. | per noi c'è un solo Dio, il Padre dal quale sono tutte le cose e noi in lui; e un solo Signore, Gesù Cristo, per mezzo del quale sono tutte le cose, e noi esistiamo per mezzo di lui. |
| 7 | Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled. | Ma la conoscenza non è in tutti; anzi alcuni, avendo finora consapevolezza dell'idolo, mangiano come di una cosa sacrificata all'idolo; e la loro coscienza, essendo debole, ne è contaminata. |
| 8 | But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse. | Ora un cibo non ci rende graditi a Dio; se mangiamo, non abbiamo nulla di più, e se non mangiamo, non abbiamo nulla di meno. |
| 9 | But take heed lest by any means this liberty of your's become a stumblingblock to them that are weak. | Badate però che questa vostra libertà non divenga un intoppo per i deboli. |
| 10 | For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols; | Perché se qualcuno vede te, che hai conoscenza, seduto a tavola in un tempio di idoli, la coscienza di lui, che è debole, non sarà forse incoraggiata a mangiare le cose sacrificate agli idoli? |
| 11 | And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? | E così, a causa della tua conoscenza perirà il fratello debole, per il quale Cristo è morto. |
| 12 | But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ. | Ora, peccando così contro i fratelli e ferendo la loro coscienza debole, voi peccate contro Cristo. |
| 13 | Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend. | Perciò, se un cibo scandalizza il mio fratello, non mangerò mai più carne, per non scandalizzare il mio fratello, |
